근대기 실내장식요소로서 벽지에 대한 인식과 디자인 전개에 관한 동서양 비교 연구 - 1900년대 전후 영국과 한국의 벽지사례를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Wallpaper Design as the Interior Decorating Elements in Modern Period - Focused on England and Korea Wallpaper in the 1900s -)

  • In the 1900s, the cultural crossing of East and West was realized through the acceptance and reproduction of culture. Cultural change in the Orient was the result of attempts to harmonize the West's images, which they chose in their respective countries, with their own culture. However, research on design history until now has been centered on the West, and East was regarded as a beneficiary of civilization inherited from Western's. From the point of view of Western design history as a main trend, the unique characteristics of Korean design culture are not revealed. Therefore, through this studies, we want to distinguish Korea's modern design, which has been recognized as a minority. For the study, through the wallpaper, which is one of the detailed components of the interior space in modern times, we try to analyze the socio - cultural historical factors and design characteristics influencing the formation of the interior space in modern times. Summarizing a result of research. The early modern wallpaper of England mainly uses plants as motifs. But In Korea, animal patterns and letter patterns were used. The reason why European wallpaper was mainly a plant at the time was that the structure of the motif was useful for the process of creation. However, in the case of the Korean wallpaper pattern, the theme was selected according to the meaning of the motif, and it was abstracted appropriately for the 2D design. As a result, many geometric shapes were formed. In addition, European wallpaper pattern is more complex and organic than Korean wallpaper pattern. Therefore, the boundary of the central pattern as the basic unit is unclear and the patterns are connected. The pattern development method is not a simple repetition but a combination of symmetry and repetition. In Korea, on the other hand, the boundaries of unit patterns are clear and patterns are developed by simple repetition. There are many diamond-type repeating patterns in particular.

초등학교 4학년 수학에서의 '무늬 만들기' 내용의 분석과 비판 (An Analysis and Criticism on 'Designing Patterns' in 4th Grade Mathematics)

  • 이 논문에서는 초등학교 4학년 수학과 교육과정에서 제시하는 '무늬 만들기'의 교수학적 변환과 각색의 실제를 비판적으로 검토한다. 무늬 만들기에서의 그 무늬는 일반적으로 벽지무늬가 아니다 그것을 만드는 방식도 벽지무늬를 만드는 방식과 같지 않다. 벽지무늬 만들기가 아니라는 점에서 보면, 새로운 무늬 만들기의 맥락은 '투명 스티커 붙이기'라고 할 수 있다. 이 논문에서는 이 특정을 전제로 해서 단위조각의 모양, 새로운 무늬 만들기의 방법, 단위조각 이어 붙이기의 규칙에 관해 비판적으로 논의하고 있다 단위조각의 모양은 실질적으로 정사각형이 아니면 안된다. 주어진 단위조각을 사용하여 새로운 무늬를 만들 때, 만드는 방식의 규칙성만 제시할 수 있으면 실제로는 어떤 규칙이라도 무방하다. 주어진 단위조각으로 만드는 새로운 무늬와 벽지무늬 사이의 관계는 분명하지 않지만, 그 둘이 서로 무관하다고 보기 어렵다는 점에서, 무늬 만들기가 '잘못된 초등화(Freudenthal, 1973)'의 한 모습일 수도 있다.

Contemporary Scarf Design influenced by William Morris

  • In human history, scarf has acted not only as a protection for body but also as a symbolization of class. Today, scarf has become a whole field in fashion and an important accessory to express individuality in fashion. Hence, like other fashion item, it is very important to develop exclusive design for scarf by analyzing the current fashion trend. In this research, we have designed a scarf textile, accordance with the contemporary design trend, applying the floral pattern, designed by William Morris who was an artist considered as the founder of the 1800s arts and crafts movement. We selected four trend themes, "Salon de Archives", "Eco Tech", "Profound Nature", and "Neo Aristo" for the design of 2007/2008 Fall/Winter. The flower motifs in Pimpernel Wallpaper, Honeysuckle textile design, Acanthus Wallpaper, Garden tulip wallpaper, Evenlode printed cotton, Trellis Wallpaper, and Chrysanthemum Wallpaper, by William Morris who expressed an image of environment friendly and nature reversion, applied to develop new creative scarf through design after modifying and rearranging these flower patterns. After the pattern was drawn by hand, adjusting of color and repeating of the design was done with DTP (Digital Textile Printing). Through this research, the researchers hopes to be of assistance to the development of national scarf brand design, and to the recapturing of textile industry that once played a important role in Koreans economic development.

서양의 전통도배에 관한 이론적 고찰 (A theoretic study about western traditional wallpaper hanging)

  • 벽지는 본래 종이가 지닌 성질상 실내장식에 있어서 수명이 가장 짧다는 특징이 있지만, 벽면의 시각적인 효과의 다양함으로 현대 벽장식 마감재중 가장 중요한 요소가 되었다 벽지는 종이의 특성상 역사적 유물 보존이 어렵고 그에 관한 기록이 미흡하며 건축물의 실내공간이 잘 유지되었거나, 광고로 사용되었던 다양한 상업용 샘플과 여러 책자에 의해서만 고증되고 있다. 종이벽지와 도배 자료들을 근거로 18세기의 영국을 중심으로 현대 벽지도배의 발전과 벽지산업의 이론적 체계 확립을 위해 과거의 전통적 벽지도배의 역사적 배경연구와 기술적, 상업적 배경의 근원을 이론적으로 고찰하여 전통적 벽지도배의 상업적 역사성을 재 인식하고자한다. 벽지도배의 이론적 연구를 통해 전통적 도배방법과 초배지의 전승, 반복이음 방식을 이용한 패턴의 양식화, 벽지도배의 분업화와 상업적 비용의 세분화, 과거 전통접착 방법의 전승, 띠벽지의 유래, 전통적 종이벽지의 실용성과 초기 도배기술의 다양한 기능성, 맞대이음 방식에서 중복이음 방식의 변화, 여성의 벽지선택을 통한 DIY제품의 개발 등을 이론적으로 고찰하였다. 벽지는 지금도 장식적, 기능적 벽 마감재 또는 벽 처리를 위한 가장 대중적인 재료로서 다른 재료들보다도 가장 선호하는 제품으로 남아 있다. 이러한 벽지의 도배 기술과 상업성을 역사적으로 고찰하여 전통 벽지도배의 이론적 체계 확립을 위한 중요한 자료이며 미래 벽지산업의 방법론적 접근을 위한 벽지역사의 근원이 될 수 있는 연구라고 사료된다.

컴퓨터 그래픽을 이용한 한옥 유니트형 노인복지시설 모델 제시 (Model Development of Unit-care Welfare Facility for a Traditional Korean House Using Computer Graphics)

  • This paper presents computer graphics applying the traditional Korean house(Hanok) style interior to unit-care space of Welfare Facility and proposes the possibility as interior design and construction materials. In this paper, the proposed computer graphic-based model is a single-story building that provides convenient traffic between rooms. Computer graphic-based model is presented by Auto CAD, 3D program (Sketch-UP v.8), rendering program (Podium v.2) based on the traditional Korean house and related work of unit-care welfare facility. Computer graphic-based model that combined unit-care and the traditional Korean house has the following characteristics. In each room of living space, wallpaper and flooring Korean paper(Hnaji) is considered and windows, door, furniture of traditional pattern were placed. The living room(Daechung) that is representative of the traditional Korean house and the corridor (toenmaru) are the elements to save the image of the traditional Korean house as much as possible. Especially, the corridor (toenmaru) is placed to conveniently use in nursing-care facility and home-care support facility. A public space is placed around the inside court (An-madang), while the living space (unit-care) has a sense of independence by separation. Bathroom and kitchen have a modern design for functionality than aesthetic elements.

인테리어 내장재의 고급감에 관한 시각 및 촉각변수의 수량화 모형 개발 (Development of Quantification Models on Visual and Tactile Design Characteristics for the Luxuriousness of Interior Covering Materials)

  • Affective aspects of design attributes such as color, Pattern, and texture are important to the overall impression and the success of interior products. Among all the interior materials, wallpapers and flooring materials take up largest construction area and they are main components in creating affective impression for customers. This study aims to investigate the relationship between luxuriousness and related affective variables and design elements of wallpapers and flooring materials. The approach consists of 3 steps: (1) selecting related affective features and product design attributes through a literature survey, opinion of expert panel, and focus group interview, (2) conducting evaluation experiments, and (3) developing Kansei models using multivariate statistical analysis and analyzing critical attributes. Evaluation experiment was conducted using a questionnaire made up of 7-point scale and 100-point scale and 30 housewives and 20 interior designers participated in the evaluation experiment. The result of evaluation was analyzed through principal component regression and quantification I analysis. As a result of analyzing the survey data, the relationship between luxuriousness and related affective features and product design attributes was identified, moreover a optimal combination of the design component was identified. Consequently, it is expected that the results of the study would be a basis of the concept of emotion-based design by giving insights about how customers perceive the luxuriousness and suggesting the optimal combination, and providing specific quantitative design guidelines.
