  • In a formal speech, the speaker's voice has a variety of effects on the listener. Depending on the voice characteristics, the effectiveness and efficiency of the speech change as well. In the presidential election, the candidate's voice characteristics will affect the cognition of voters. Thus, we need to understand about the a more effective voice of candidate. This study proves whether voters will change their cognition if the candidate changes owe voice. If the cognition of voters can be changed according to the changed voice characteristics of the candidate, we will be able to explain what voices are needed for the candidate. We will also be able to suggest the necessary voice change strategies for effective speech. We describe cognition change of the voters according to the change of the voices of the presidential candidates by the dimension of the sori-engineering and the cognitive dimension. Hence, this study explains the voice characteristics and change strategies needed for candidates for effective speech.

  • Some patients who have undergone adenotonsillectomy (AT) or tonsillectomy(T) complain of voice change. Research was designed to determine the relationship between subjective voice change and change of parameters in boice analysis and to find the degree of voice change according to age and excised tissue volume. In 34 patients who underwent AT and 17 patients who underwent T, we measured the masalance, the fundamental frequency of /a/phonation and the formants and bandwidths of /a/, /i/, /u/ phonations. These parameters were measured preoperatively and also 7 days after the operation. Excised tissue volume was measured on operation. Postoperative changes were statistically analyzed. Any subjective voice change was asked to be reported at the visit 7 days after the operation. There was analysis for the difference of above parameters between some who answered "voice change" (A group) and the others who answered "no voice change" (B group). 24 patients(71%) who underwent AT and 4 voice change. Nasals nasalance change is an important factor in subjective voice change after AT.

  • In this paper, the spectral shape invariant real-time voice change method is proposed to change one's voice to mechanical voice. For this purpose, LPC analysis and synthesis is used to maintain the spectraum of voice and the pitch of synthesis speech can be changed freely. In the proposed method, gain matching method is applied to excitation signal generator to make the changed voice natural to hear. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, voice change experiments were conducted. Experimental results showed that original speech signal is changed to the mechanical voice signal in which context of the speaker's voice is conveyed correctly in spite of drastic change of pitch. The system is implemented using TI TMS320C6711DSK board to verify the system runs in real time.

  • In this paper, real-time voice change method using pitch change technique is proposed to change one's voice to the other voice. For this purpose, sampling rate change method using DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform) method and time scale modification method using SOLA (Synchronized Overlap and Add) method is combined to change pitch. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, voice transformation experiments were conducted. Experimental results showed that original speech signal is changed to the other speech signal in which original speaker's identity is difficult to find. • This paper describes procedures of changing and measuring voice quality in terms of jitter. Jitter synthesis method was applied to the TD-PSOLA analysis system of the Praat software. The jitter component is synthesized based on a Gaussian random noise model. The TD-PSOLA re-synthesize process is used to synthesize the modified voice with artificial jitter. Various vocal jitter parameters are used to measure the change in quality caused by artificial systematic jitter change. Synthetic vowels, natural vowels and short sentences are used to check the change in voice quality through the synthesizer model. The results shows that the suggested method is useful for voice quality control in a limited way and can be used to alter the jitter component of voice.

  • The purpose of this paper is to find prosodic characteristics in voice imitation. Speakers change various phonetic features in voice imitation. Speakers change their pitch ranges in the most cases. Especially, the pitch range is important for word conditions. And, as imitators change the voice, the average value of f0 is close to high frequence than low frequence or middle level.

  • Background and Objectives : Although many studies have examined the effect of drinking on voice change, its cause and degree remain unclear. Since voice change occurs more frequently the day following drinking, rather than immediately afterwards, we examined whether the voice change was correlated with reflux laryngitis due to gastroesophageal motor disturbances. Subjects and Methods : For this study, 10 patients were selected who had neither voice change nor symptoms of reflux laryngitis at baseline (male : female=5 : 5, mean age=28 years old) They were subjected to psychoacoustic, acoustic, and aerodynamic tests and video stroboscopy at 4:00 P.M. the day before drinking (test 1), at 8:00 A.M. (test 2) and 4:00 P.M. (test 3) on the following day. On the day of drinking, the subjects had to drink more than their usual amount of Soju(Korean liquor) and were not allowed to talk much. The stroboscopy findings were quantified using the PC Belafsky score. Results : The laryngeal response to gastric reflux after drinking was compared between tests 1 and 2. In both tests, laryngeal edema and injection were observed on video stroboscopy. The psychoacoustic test detected more severe hoarseness in test 2 than in test 1. In addition, the acoustic test detected a mild increase in both jitter and shimmer. However, the differences between tests 2 and 3, which were performed when there was reduced or no gastric reflux, were not significant. Conclusions : Drinking may cause gastric reflux, which produces reversible voice change by irritating the vocal cords and larynx. Therefore, reflux laryngitis should be suspected in a patient whose voice changes markedly after drinking.

  • The purpose of this paper is to research voice imitation. Voice imitation changes various phonetic feature. Also, in our experimental results, voice imitation has preferential prosody difference. For imitating voice, imitators change their fundamental frequency bandwidths for the most part. Imitative speakers change their high fundamental frequencies effectively while they maintain their low fundamental frequencies. Also, excellent group is distinctly superior to common group for imitating prosodic patterns. That is, the f0 bandwidth's change and the prosodic patterns are significant in imitating voice. But the low f0 is maintain by all speakers.

  • Voice complication without the laryngeal nerve injury can occur after thyroidectomy. The purpose of this study is to investigate voice changes according to extent of thyroidectomy with acoustic analysis. Thirty-five female patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma took voice evaluation at before and 1 month, and 3 months after thyroidectomy. Acoustic analysis parameters were speaking fundamental frequency(SFF), min $F_0$, max $F_0$, dynamic range $F_0$, jitter, shimmer, noise-to-harmonic ratio(NHR), and Cepstral prominence peak(CPP). Repeated-measured analysis of variance was applied. Time-related voice changes showed significant differences in all parameters except NHR. At 1 month after surgery, voice quality was worse and pitch was decreasing, but voice quality and pitch were improving at 3-month follow-up. Voice changes according to the extent of surgery were in SFF, max $F_0$, and dynamic range $F_0$. Time by surgery-related voice change existed only in min $F_0$. The result showed that the severity of voice complication depended on the extend of thyroidectomy which had a negative impact on $F_0$-related parameters. The deterioration of voice quality at 1 month after thyroidectomy may be affected by the loss of thyroid hormone in the blood. The descent of $F_0$-related parameters may be impacted by laryngeal fixation of surgical site adhesion.
