We examined the changes of visual function and visual perception tests for children with mild developmental disabilities through vision therapy. Results. At the time of the initial visit of the child, the ability to control not only distant and near visual function, but also accommodation, was also very limited. Also, the visual perception score was measured at 80 points. Through vision therapy, it was confirmed that the improvement of control ability as well as the visual function and visual perception function test results were also improved to 108 points. Conclusion. It was confirmed that vision therapy results in an improvement of visual function, improved visual perception ability, as well as visual perception ability, It was concluded that visual function affected visual perception, and that vision therapy used in order to prevent visual function deterioration was found to be very helpful.

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of this was to translate Patient-Rated Tennis Elbow Evaluation(PRTEE) into Korean and identify the reliability and validity of a Korean version of PRTEE. METHODS: The subjects of this study were 32 patients diagnosed with lateral epicondylitis. The subjects were surveyed using a Korean version of PRTEE three times: at the first visit, one week after, and two weeks after. This questionnaire consisted of 15 questions including 5 questions about pain and 10 questions about functions. Intraclass correlation coefficients were used to measure reliability and Cronbach's alpha coefficients were used to assess internal consistency. In addition, the validity of the survey results was examined by correlating a visual analogue scale with the outcome of holding without pain. RESULTS: Test-retest reliability of Korea version PRTEE was good total ICC= .962 (CI=.922-,982). Cronbach's alpha value for PRTEE was found to be .955 and it was statistically significant (p<.05). The positive correlation between PRTEE and VAS was moderate to high (r=.753, P=.00) and statistically significant. There was also a low significant negative correlation between PRTEE and PFG (r=-.362, P=.042). CONCLUSION: The Korean version of PRTEE had reliability and validity. Therefore, it is a useful measure to evaluate the conditions of patients with lateral epicondylitis.

  • The purpose of this study provides the conceptual and practical framework on the strategy to enhance services for the visually handicapped in the braille libraries. In order to achieve this purpose, the questionnaires, the interview, and the observation of the data collection techniques are used in the study, and the braille libraries throughout Korea which are in operation are selected as subjects for the research and survey. The results of the study are summarized as follows. 1. Most of the braille libraries, about 70%, are located in Seoul. It thus appears that this geographical unbalance cause the visually handicapped inconvenience in use, who is especially living at the regions where no braille library is located nearby. 2. To enhance the efficiency of the library services for the visually handicapped, first of all, the limited scope of the subject as well as the poor volume of the collections should be resolved as soon as possible. 3. Most of the libraries are neither equipped with necessary facilities to publish in braille nor secured the supporting instruments which facilitate to use library services for the visually handicapped satisfactorily. 4. The collections for the visually handicapped consist of the brailles and the recordings mainly. Because the visually handicapped is difficult to access and visit at the libraries alone, these materials are generally circulating rather outward by postal service than inward. 5. The qualified staff who has the very responsible position for reading and circulation is required to have educational background in library and information science, to have passions for the visually handicapped, and to have abilities to understand and translate the materials in braille.
