중심합성계획모델을 이용한 폐식용유 원료 바이오디젤 제조공정의 최적화 (Optimization of Waste Cooking Oil-based Biodiesel Production Process Using Central Composite Design Model)

  • 본 연구에서는 폐식용유를 이용한 바이오디젤 제조공정에 반응표면분석법 중 중심합성계획모델을 이용하여 최적화 과정을 수행하였다. 공정변수로는 폐식용유의 산가, 반응시간, 반응온도, 메탄올/유지 몰비, 촉매량 등을 선택하였고, 반응치로는 FAME 함량(96.5% 이상) 및 동점도(1.9~5.5 cSt)를 설정하였다. 기초실험을 통해 계량인자범위를 반응시간 (45~60 min), 반응온도($50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$), 메탄올/유지 몰비(8~12)로 정하고, 중심합성계획모델을 이용한 최적화 결과 바이오디젤의 제조공정의 최적조건은 반응시간 55.2 min, 반응온도 $57.5^{\circ}C$, 메탄올/유지 몰비 10으로 나타났다. 이 조건에서 바이오디젤의 예측 FAME 함량은 97.5%, 동점도는 2.40 cSt이었으며, 실제 실험을 통해 확인한 결과 FAME 함량(97.7%), 동점도(2.41 cSt)로 측정되어 오차율은 각각 0.23, 0.29%로 나타났다. 따라서 폐식용유 원료 바이오디젤 제조공정 최적화 과정에 반응표면분석법 중 중심합성계획모델을 적용할 경우 매우 낮은 오차율을 얻을 수 있었다.

산 / 알칼리 촉매를 사용한 자트로파유의 바이오디젤화 (The Conversion of Jatropha Oil into Biodiesel Using Acid / Alkali Catalysts)

  • The esterification of free fatty acid in Jatropha oil added by propylene glycol using p-TSA catalyst was done, and then the transesterification of Jatropha oil added by 1.0vol% GMS as an emulsifier using TMAH, and mixed catalyst(60wt%-TMAH+ 40wt%-KOH) respectively was followed at $60^{\circ}C$. The esterification conversion at the 1:8 molar ratio of free fatty acid to methanol using 8.0wt% p-TSA was 94.7% within 60min. The overall conversion at the 1:8 molar ratio of Jatropha oil to methanol and $60^{\circ}C$ using mixed catalyst was 95.4%. The kinematic viscosity of Biodiesel using TMAH and mixed catalyst in 24h met the ASTM D-6751 above $30^{\circ}C$, and showed a little more than its criterion.

  • Biodiesel was well known for eco-friendly alternative fuel for petrodiesel. But biodiesel have disadvantage such like it was derived from food resource which was high price. In this study, We synthesized the biodiesel from duck's oil which was food trash via transesterification under base catalyst. After analytic result of density, kinematic viscosity, cold temperature characteristics, lubricity and cetane number which were main fuel characteristics, this duck's biodiesel have enough to fuel specification for except of domestic winter season.

폐식용유 바이오디젤 연료의 분무특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Spray Characteristics of Biodiesel Derived from Waste Cooking Oil)

  • This study was performed to investigate the effect of biodiesel derived from waste cooking oil on the spray behavior and macroscopic spray characteristics. To analyze quantitative characteristics of test fuels, injection quantity was measured at various injection pressures and the spray images of injected fuels in the pressurized chamber were obtained by using a high speed camera and image analysis system. Based on the measured spray images, the spray tip penetration and spray cone angle were investigated at various energizing timings and injection pressures. In this work, the experimental results showed that the injection quantity of waste cooking biodiesel indicated the higher quantities than diesel at high injection pressure. As the injection pressure was increased, the spray tip penetrations of biodiesel were higher value than diesel. The difference of penetration between biodiesel and conventional diesel fuel was reduced in accordance with the increase of injection pressure. Also, the spray angles of diesel were larger than that of biodiesel because diesel fuel has lower viscosity than biodiesel. In addition, the spray evolution processes of biodiesel fuel at various injection pressures and the elapsed time after the injection were compared to the conventional diesel fuel.

  • In this study, the spray characteristics of blended fuels with biodiesel were investigated. The experiments were performed for the effect of mixing ratio and injection pressures on the spray behavior. Conventional diesel fuel and biodiesel fuel and blended fuels were used as test fuels. Through the spray visualization system, composed of a Halogen lamp and High speed camera. The process of spray injection was visualized. Fuel containing biodiesel has different spray pattern on account of the high viscosity and large surface tension. Through this experimental result, we found that, after solenoid driving pulse generates, the increase of injection pressure enables delay time to get shorter, but the increase of mixing ratio makes delay time lengthen.

Spray Characteristics in CI Engines Fuelled with Vegetable Oils and Its Derivatives

  • In this article, spray characteristics in CI engines fuelled with vegetable oils and its derivatives will be reviewed. Of edible vegetable oils, soybean oil and rapeseed oil were mainly investigated. Of inedible vegetable oils, jatropha oil and used frying oil were main concern on the research on the spray characteristics in CI engine. Spray angle and spray penetration were mainly examined among the macroscopic spray characteristics and Sauter mean diameter was only investigated among the microscopic spray characteristics. There exist six different definitions of spray angle which should be examined. Neat vegetable oil and biodiesel fuels show smaller spray angle than diesel fuel. Biodiesel fuel and vegetable oils and its blend have a longer spray penetration than diesel fuel. However, biodiesel blends with diesel shows the similar spray penetration with diesel fuel. SMDs in the biodiesel spray, vegetable oils and its blends spray are higher than that in the diesel spray.

바이오디젤의 난방유로서의 연료특성 (Fuel Qualities of Different Biodiesels in the Gun Type Burner)

  • In this study, fuel qualities including kinematic viscosity and pour point in the various temperature, calorific value and combustion characteristics of two biodiesels based on the soybean and waste oil blended with light oil were investigated and discussed in order to figure out to confirm fuel compatibility taking the place of light oil in the hot air heater or boiler. As biodiesel content ratio increased calorific value of biodiesel decreased, and the difference was 13% between 100%-biodiesel and light oil. In general, pour points of the biodiesels were higher than light oil, and as biodiesel content ratio increased pour point increased. About 15 cSt was the pour point of biodiesels and light oil, which occurred at 3 to $4^{\circ}C$ in the biodiesels and $-25^{\circ}C$ in the light oil. Flame dimensions of biodiesels and light oil were almost same at the same combustion condition in the burner of the hot air heater. CO concentrations in the exhaustion gas were far lower than those of the light oil. Though pour point of biodiesel is a little inferior to light oil, still biodiesel can be an alternative fuel substituting for light oil in combustion system without much modifying the current oil combustion mechanism.

바이오디젤의 선박 연료 활용을 위한 품질 분석 (A Study on the Quality Analysis of Biodiesel for Ship's Fuel Utilization)

  • 바이오디젤은 중립연료로써 친환경 연료로 알려져 있으며, 육상에서는 일정 비율을 의무 혼합하는 정책을 시행하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 바이오디젤의 선박 연료로써의 사용 가능성을 검증하기 위해 선박용 경유와 바이오디젤의 혼합비율 0 %, 5 %, 10 %, 20 %에 대해 성분 분석, 금속 부식성 실험, 저장 안정성 실험을 수행하였다. 성분 분석은 ISO 8217:2017 기준에 따라 밀도, 동점도, 인화점 등 총 8가지를 평가하였으며, 180일 동안 상온과 가혹 조건(60 ℃)에서 금속 부식성 실험과 저장 안정성 실험을 통해 바이오디젤 신뢰성을 검증하였다. 연구 결과, 성분 분석은 바이오디젤 모든 혼합비율에서 ISO 8217:2017 기준을 만족하였으며, 바이오디젤 비율에 따라 동점도, 밀도, 산값은 혼합비율이 높아질수록 높게 나타났으며, 황분은 혼합비율이 높아질수록 낮게 나타났다. 금속 부식성은 탄소강, 철, 알루미늄, 니켈의 경우 부식이 거의 발생하지 않았으나, 구리의 경우 60 ℃ 환경 바이오디젤 20 % 혼합에서 산소가 풍부한 바이오디젤의 영향으로 부식이 발생하였다. 저장 안정성은 모든 바이오디젤 혼합비율을 180일 동안 상온과 가혹 조건에서 저장한 결과, 변색, 슬러지 발생, 연료 분리가 육안으로 확인되지 않았다.

우지-해바라기유 오일혼합 바이오디젤의 전환 특성과 동점도 처리에 따른 오일혼합 바이오디젤의 동점도 변화 특성 (Conversion Characteristics on Beef-Tallow and Sunflower Oil Blend Biodiesel and its Treatment Method to Reduce Kinematic Viscosity)

  • 포화지방산 함량이 높은 우지와 불포화지방산 함량이 높은 식물성 유지인 해바라기유를 혼합한 혼합오일의 바이오디젤 전환특성을 규명하고 연료특성을 분석하였다. 다변량분산분석을 이용하여 도출한 기여율로 각 실험변수 (메탄올/유지 몰비, 오일혼합비) 가 바이오디젤 전환에 미치는 영향을 규명하였다. 또한, 바이오디젤의 고점도 문제를 해결하기 위해 가열과 초음파 조사의 방법을 적용하여 동점도 감소효과를 검증하였다. 연료별 온도 도와 동점도간의 상관관계식을 통해 동점도 감소를 위한 연료별 최적 온도를 도출하였다. 그 결과, 바이오디젤 전환율은 오일 혼합비 TASU7, 메탄올/유지 몰비 10에서 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났고 지방산 조성에 따라 연료특성에 차이가 있었다. 또한, 우지, 해바라기유 오일 혼합 바이오디젤의 연료특성 분석 결과 바이오디젤의 품질기준을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. 바이오디젤의 고점도를 해결하기 위한 동점도 실험 결과 가열 방법의 동점도 감소 효과가 초음파 조사 방법에 비해 우수한 것으로 나타나 간단한 가열장치로 바이오디젤의 고점도를 해결할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • The characteristics of combustion and emission of biodiesel fuel were investigated in a single cylinder DI diesel engine equipped with a common rail injection system. For investigating the effect of bio diesels, the experiments were conducted at various mixing ratio and engine operation conditions. Experimental results show that combustion pressure increased with the increase of mixing ratio and injection pressure. The HC and CO emissions are decreased and NOx emission is increased as the mixing ratio of biodiesels increases at 100MPa injection pressure. However the results of the emissions are shown the contrary to the results at 50MPa of injection pressure due to larger droplets of biodiesel sprays.
