In this paper, we propose multicast technique in order to reduce the required network bandwidth by n times, by merging the adjacent multicasts depending on the number of HENs (Head-End-Nodes) n that request the same video. Allowing new clients to immediately join an existing multicast through patching improves the efficiency of the multicast and offers services without any initial latency. A client might have to download data through two channels simultaneously, one for multicast and the other for patching. The more the frequency of requesting the video is, the higher the probability of caching it among HENs increases. Therefore, the requests for the cached video data can be served by HENs. Multicast from server is generated when the playback time exceeds the amount of cached video data. Since the interval of multicast can be dynamically expanded according to the popularity of videos, it can be reduced the server's workload and the network bandwidth. We perform simulations to compare its performance with that of conventional multicast. From simulation results, we confirm that the Proposed multicast technique offers substantially better performance.

In accordance with a demand for high quality video streaming, it needs high data rate in limited bandwidth and more traffic congestion occurs. In particular, when providing real time video service, packet loss rate and bit error probability increase significantly. To solve these problems, a raptor code, which is one of FEC(Forward Error Correction) techniques, is pervasively used in the application layers as a method for improving real-time service quality. In this paper, we propose a method of determining image transmission parameters based on various deep neural networks to increase transmission efficiency at a similar level of image quality by using raptor codes. The proposed neural network uses the packet loss rate, video encoding rate and data rate as inputs, and outputs raptor FEC parameters and packet sizes. The results of the proposed method present that the throughput is 1.2% higher than that of the existing multimedia transmission technique by optimizing the transmission efficiency at a PSNR(Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) level similar to that of the existing technique.
With the rapid development of multimedia applications and wireless communication networks, consumer demand for video-over-wireless capability on mobile computing systems is growing rapidly. In this regard, this paper introduces YUV-aware instructions that enhance the performance and efficiency in the processing of color image and video. Traditional multimedia extensions (e.g., MMX, SSE, VIS, and AltiVec) depend solely on generic subword parallelism whereas the proposed YUV-aware instructions support parallel operations on two-packed 16-bit YUV (6-bit Y, 5-bits U, V) values in a 32-bit datapath architecture, providing greater concurrency and efficiency for color image and video processing. Moreover, the ability to reduce data format size reduces system cost. Experiment results on a representative dynamically scheduled embedded superscalar processor show that YUV-aware instructions achieve an average speedup of 3.9x over the baseline superscalar performance. This is in contrast to MMX (a representative Intel#s multimedia extension), which achieves a speedup of only 2.1x over the same baseline superscalar processor. In addition, YUV-aware instructions outperform MMX instructions in energy reduction (75.8% reduction with YUV-aware instructions, but only 54.8% reduction with MMX instructions over the baseline).

Peer-to-Peer content delivery technology recently begins to be used not only for file sharing applications such as eDonkey but also for every kind of content services. KBS, a broadcasting company in Korea, is aggressively driving to apply Peer-to-Peer technology to KBS's commercial internet video service but we found that there are two big huddles. First, end users may refuse to share their own resources for KBS's cost reduction using Peer-to-Peer content delivery technology. Second, it may cause that the number of free-riders increases and the efficiency of the overall system would fall. From commercial service provider's perspective, we have to avoid that end users have unfavorable impressions on the service and the usefulness of Peer-to-Peer technology decreases. In order to overcome these problems, we studied how to offer incentive to end users and how much incentive would be reasonable, and then applied the result to real service for verification.

The proposed mechanism has an group management server, which manages the information about both the receivers and the senders. Any receiver can dynamically join/leave the multicast VC. The signaling overload due to group membership changes is not concentrated on the sender, but it is distributed to many receivers for the scalability improvement. The associated signaling messages propagates from the receivers to the ATM switch dedicated to the multicast VC, and hence no signaling overload exists in the shared links there is no latency for the receiver to wait. Our proposed scheme is superior in the view of scalability, the efficiency and the latency to other schemes.

The advancement of Internet network technology has triggered the emergence of new OTT video content platforms, increasing demand for content and altering consumption patterns. This trend is bringing positive changes to the South Korean animation industry, where diverse and high-quality animation content is becoming increasingly important. As investment in technology grows, video production technology continues to advance. Specifically, 3D animation and VFX production technologies are enabling effects that were previously unthinkable, offering detailed and realistic graphics. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is providing new opportunities for this technological growth. The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is automating repetitive tasks, thereby enhancing production efficiency and enabling innovations that go beyond traditional production methods. Cutting-edge technologies like 3D animation and VFX are being continually researched and are expected to be more actively integrated into the production process. Digital technology is also expanding the creative horizons for artists. The future of AI and advanced technologies holds boundless potential, and there is growing anticipation for how these will elevate the video content industry to new heights.

Recently, we need to dramatically speed up real-time video encoding and decoding on mobile devices because complexity of video CODEC is significantly increasing along with the demand for multimedia service of high-quality and high-definition videos by users. A variety of research is conducted for parallelism of video processing using newly developed multi-core platforms. In this paper, we propose a method of parallelism based on slice partition of video compression CODEC. We propose a novel concept of a parallel slice for parallelism and propose a new coding order to be adequate to the parallel slice which keeps high coding efficiency. To minimize synchronization time of multiple parallel slices, we also propose a synchronization method to determinate whether the parallel slice could be independently decoded or not. Experimental results shows that we achieved 27.5% (40.7%) speed-up by parallelism with bit-rate increase of 3.4% (2.7%) for CIF sequences (720p sequences) by implementing the proposed algorithm on the H.264/AVC.

With the advent of IP-based multimedia service based on IP network, there is a rapidly increasing demand for IPTV. Unlike the previous coaxial cable based TV, IPTV provides a variety of convergence services based on IP newark. However, since the IPTV service quality is a lot affected by the network degradation such as packet loss and jitter, it may not be guaranteed. In this paper, we propose an objective measure for various degradations of IPTV-based videos considering subjective assessment. To this end, we first determine QoE(Quality of Experience) indicators, which can affect human visual perception. Then we develop the video quality metric for each QoE indicator. Subjective assessment based on MOS is conducted and used to construct mapping relationship between each measure and perceived visual quality. Experiments are performed on various videos to confirm the efficiency and robustness of the proposed method and show high correlation with subjective assessment.
PURPOSES : Most of the traffic surveys are carried out by an inspection method by the manpower. In some cases, the video equipment is used only in some regions when the traffic volume is surveyed. In this case, there is environmental restriction that the road equipment to fix the video equipment should exist. Also, in areas where information such as digital maps and satellite photographs is old or not provided, they are forced to rely on manpower research, but it is difficult to put huge amounts of time and money into the research in places where labor supply and demand is difficult. This difficulty is particularly pronounced in overseas business. METHODS : The purpose of this study is to improve the efficiency of business by using the drones in the traffic investigation through analysis of the cost reduction effect between the existing method and the proposed method in the overseas business traffic survey. The scope of the research is limited to the scope of research, and based on the case of overseas projects, the method of using drone for each research sector is suggested. RESULTS : In the traffic condition survey section, we propose the use of drone for traffic survey and queue length survey, and it is confirmed that there is a cost saving effect of 16% ~ 27% compared with the existing method. In the road condition survey, we propose the use of drones for road surface linear survey, geometry survey, and obstacle survey, and it was confirmed that the cost reduction effect is 39% ~ 93% compared to the existing method. CONCLUSIONS : In addition to overseas business, it is expected that it will have a positive effect on research time and cost reduction by using drone in traffic survey in domestic area where labor supply is not easy or basic data is insufficient.
