An Efficient Video Indexing Scheme Exploiting Visual Rhythm (비쥬얼 리듬을 이용한 효율적 비데오 인덱싱 기법)

  • With the growing popularity of digital video applications, those areas of the efficient transmit, storage management, and search technology for video data are emerging as an important core technology. To be an effective video indexing system, users need to be able to find the video segments that they want. Unfortunately, video data is difficult to manage because of its unstructured data type and large volume with linear forms. This paper proposes a shot verification using visual rhythm and video retrieval system. The shot verification is designed to detect a segment from video easily and quickly, known as shot boundaries, just by changing the visual rhythm without playing the image. Therefore, this can decrease the false detected shots and generate the unidentified shots and key frames. The retrieval system is constructed in terms of visual descriptor from the list of MPEG-7. The effectiveness of the proposed shot verification process and video retrieval system is demonstrated.

  • In this paper, we propose image retrieval method more accurate and efficient than the conventional one. First of ail, we perform a shot detection and key frame extraction from the DC image constructed by DCT DC coefficients in the compressed video stream that is video compression standard such as MPEG[I][2]. We get principal axis applying PCA(Principal Component Analysis) to key frames for obtaining indexing information, and divide a domain. Video retrieval uses indexing information of high dimension. We apply KD-Trees(K Dimensional-Trees)[3] which shows efficient retrieval in data set of high dimension to video retrieval method. The proposed method can represent property of images more efficiently and property of domains more accurately using KD-Trees.

  • The content-based retrieval using low-level features can hardly provide the retrieval result that corresponds with conceptual demand of user for intelligent retrieval. Video includes not only moving picture data, but also audio or closed-caption data. Knowledge-based video retrieval is able to provide the retrieval result that corresponds with conceptual demand of user because of performing automatic indexing with such a variety data. In this paper, we present the knowledge-based video retrieval system using Korean closed-caption. The closed-caption is indexed by Korean keyword extraction system including the morphological analysis process. As a result, we are able to retrieve the video by using keyword from the indexing database. In the experiment, we have applied the proposed method to news video with closed-caption generated by Korean stenographic system, and have empirically confirmed that the proposed method provides the retrieval result that corresponds with more meaningful conceptual demand of user.

  • According to the rapid increase of multimedia data quantity recently, various means of video data search has been desired. In order to process video data effectively, it is required that the content information of video data is loaded in database and semantic-based retrieval method can be available for various query of users. Currently existent contents-based video retrieval systems search by single method such as annotation-based or feature-based retrieval, and show low search efficiency and requires many efforts of system administrator or annotator form less perfect automatic processing. In this paper, we propose semantic-based video retrieval system which support semantic retrieval of various users by feature-based retrieval and annotation-based retrieval of massive video data. By user's fundamental query and selection of image for key frame that extracted from query, the agent gives the detail shape for annotation of extracted key frame. Also, key frame selected by user become query image and searches the most similar key frame through feature based retrieval method that propose. Therefore, we design the system that can heighten retrieval efficiency of video data through semantic-based retrieval.

Efficient Storage and Retrieval for Automatic Indexing of Persons in Videos (동영상 등장인물의 자동색인을 위한 효율적인 저장과 검색 방법)

  • With increasing need for indexing of persons in a large video database, automatic indexing has been attracting great interest which takes advantage of automatic tagging instead of the time-consuming and costly manual tagging. However, automatic indexing approach should provide a degree of recognition proximity because it cannot identify the persons with accuracy of 100%. In this paper, we propose an efficient storage method for storing posting lists efficiently and a novel ranking technique of ordering relevant videos for efficient retrieval. Through experiment evaluations we have shown that our storage method exhibits good performance in compressing the posting list. We have also shown that the proposed ranking method is effective for finding relevant videos.

Semantic Video Retrieval Based On User Preference (사용자 선호도를 고려한 의미기반 비디오 검색)

  • To ensure access to rapidly growing video collection, video indexing is becoming more and more essential. A database for video should be build for fast searching and extracting the accurate features of video information with more complex characteristics. Moreover, video indexing structure supports efficient retrieval of interesting contents to reflect user preferences. In this paper, we propose semantic video retrieval method based on user preference. Unlikely the previous methods do not consider user preferences. Futhermore, the conventional methods show the result as simple text matching for the user's query that does not supports the semantic search. To overcome these limitations, we develop a method for user preference analysis and present a method of video ontology construction for semantic retrieval. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm performs better than previous methods in terms of semantic video retrieval based on user preferences.

  • During recent years, a new framework, which aims to bring a unified and global approach in indexing, browsing and querying various digital multimedia data such as audio, video and image has been developed. This new system partitions each media stream into smaller units based on actual physical events. These physical events within oath media stream can then be effectively indexed for retrieval. In this paper, we present a new approach that exploits audio, image and video features to segment and analyze the audio-visual data. Integration of audio and visual analysis can overcome the weakness of previous approach that was based on the image or video analysis only. We Implement a web-based multi media data retrieval system called XCRAB and report on its experiment result.

Efficient Video Retrieval Scheme with Luminance Projection Model (휘도투시모델을 적용한 효율적인 비디오 검색기법)

  • A number of video indexing and retrieval algorithms have been proposed to manage large video databases efficiently. The video similarity measure is one of most important technical factor for video content management system. In this paper, we propose the luminance characteristics model to measure the video similarity efficiently. Most algorithms for video indexing have been commonly used histograms, edges, or motion features, whereas in this paper, the proposed algorithm is employed an efficient similarity measure using the luminance projection. To index the video sequences effectively and to reduce the computational complexity, we calculate video similarity using the key frames extracted by the cumulative measure, and compare the set of key frames using the modified Hausdorff distance. Experimental results show that the proposed luminance projection model yields the remarkable improved accuracy and performance than the conventional algorithm such as the histogram comparison method, with the low computational complexity.

  • Recently, many researches into distributed processing on Internet, and multimedia data processing have been performed. Rapid and convenient multimedia services supplied with high quality and high speed are to be needed. In this paper, we design and implement clip-based video retrieval system on the Web enviroment in real-time. Our system consists of the content-based indexing system supporting convenient services for video content providers, and the Web-based retrieval system in order to make it easy and various information retrieval for users in the Web. Three important methods are used in the content-based indexing system, key frame extracting method by dividing video data, clip file creation method by clustering related information, and video database construction method by using clip unit. In Web-based retrieval system, retrieval method ny using a key word, two dimension browsing method of key frame, and real-time display method of the clip are used. In this paper, we design and implement the system that supports real-time display method of the clip are used. In this paper, we design and implement the system that supports real-time retrieval for video clips on Web environment and provides the multimedia service in stability. The proposed methods show a usefulness of video content providing, and provide an easy method for serching intented video content.

  • Existing contents-based video retrieval systems search by using a single method such as annotation-based or feature-based retrieval. Hence, it not only shows low search efficiency, but also requires many efforts to provide system administrator or annotator with a perfect automatic processing. Tn this paper, we propose an agent-based, and automatic and unified semantics-based video retrieval system, which support various semantics-retrieval of the massive video data by integrating the feature-based retrieval and the annotation-based retrieval. The indexing agent embodies the semantics about annotation of extracted key frames by analyzing a fundamental query of a user and by selecting a key-frame image that is ed by a query. Also, a key frame selected by user takes a query image of the feature-based retrieval and the indexing agent searches and displays the most similar key-frame images after comparing query images with key frames in the database by using the color-multiple-partition histogram techniques. Furthermore, it is shown that the performance of the proposed system can be significantly improved.
