  • Cavitation erosion-corrosion implies damage to materials due to the shock pressure or shock wave that results when bubbles form and collapse at a metal surface within a liquid. If the liquids corrosive to the material, a condition typically encountered in industry, the component materials may suffer serious damage by a combination of mechanical and electrochemical attack. To suppress cavitation erosion as well as cavitation erosion-corrosion to hydraulic equipments, innovations such as the improvement in the geometric design of the equipment or the selection of suitably resistant construction materials are necessary. This study was tested by using the piezoelectric vibrator with 20kHz, 24${\mu}$m for cavitation generation. And also, the vibratory cavitation erosion-corrosion tests on commercial mild steel SS41were carried out. We carefully observed the erosion pattern and surface photography. • This paper describes with the stator analysis and design of a ring type ultrasonic motor. The design for piezoelectric ceramic and elastic body of stator were calculated by using the finite element method (FEM) that consider the resonance frequency, vibration mode and coupling efficiency. Namely, such results were acquired the calculation result of the piezoelectric ceramic thickness 0.5[mm], elastic body thickness 2.0[mm], resonance frequency 51.8[kHz], vibration mode 7 order and coupling efficient 12.5[%], the outer and inner diameter of vibrator 50[mm], 38[m]. On the basis of such result, the ring type ultrasonic motor was manufactured. Also for driving characteristics of ring type ultrasonic motor, 2-phase inverter was constructed. Then the propriety of this paper was established from comparision of the simulation and an experiment results of the ring type ultrasonic motor.

  • Bolt-tightened Langevin type vibrators using longitudinal mode of bar were designed and fabricated. In order to amplify the displacement of the tip of the vibrators, stacked ceramics were used and five different shapes of the horns were designed and jointed. Resonant frequencies and vibration characteristics of vibrators and horns were analyzed by ANSYS(finite element analysis computer program), and the displacements of tips of the horns were measured. As results, when the numbers of the stacked ceramics were increased, the displacements of the tips were increased and the driving voltages were decreased. Step l horn (BLT-St1) showed maximum displacement of 36.92 $\mu\textrm{m}$ at 36.7 ㎑ with 45 V$\sub$rms/ and 0.11 A. The displacement amplification ratio was about 5.2. But, the stress of step l horn was concentrated on intersection, where two diameters meet. To lessen the stress, step3 shaped hem is recommended.

  • Transducer for linear ultrasonic motor with symmetric and anti-symmetric modes was studied. The transducer was composed of two Langevin-type vibrators that cross at right angles with each other at tip. In order to excite two vibration modes, two Langevin-type vibrators must have 90-degree phase difference with each other. As a result, tip of transducers moves in elliptical motion. In this paper, elliptical trajectory of transducer was analyzed by employing the finite element method.

  • On this paper, piezoelectric transducer was studied through direct piezoelectric effect. Circular unimorph type piezoelectric transducer is fabricated by attaching circular type PZT ceramic to circular plate of brass. The fabricated transducer was simulated and analyzed by using FEM program, ANSYS. Output characteristics were measured by applying diverse frequencies, including resonance frequency, of vibrator to transducer, and then the results were compared with ANSYS results. In addition, each characteristic was measured at two constraint conditions to obtain higher efficiency.

  • The Spin Tester(High Speed Balancing and Overspeed Test Facility), which is designed for the quality control of turbine, generator, and rotors was supposed to be constructed with the use of Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete(SERC) for reducing the risk of accident while operation. However, it was very existence of fiber concrete due to there are two major concern in the SFRC work: one is existence of fiber ball due to inhomogeneous mixing, the other is the segregation of the concrete materials. To avoid these possible problems, the S/a was controlled about 55% to reduce the segregation and the high range AE water reducing agent was used to maintain the slump over the value of 18cm. With these careful consideratons, the SFRC work was done successfully by only using regular equipments like pump car and vibrator.

  • Transducer for ultrasonic linear motor with the symmetric and anti-symmetric modes was studied. The ultrasonic linear motor consists of two Langevin type piezoelectric vibrators that cross at right angles with each other in tip. In order to excite symmetric and anti-symmetric resonance modes, the transducer must have a phase shift of 90 degree in space and time. Therefore, the tip of transducer moves on an elliptical motion. In this paper, the finite element analysis was used to optimize dimension and displacement of the transducer. The ultrasonic motor was fabricated using the simulated result and the driving characteristics were measured. No-load velocity was 0.28[m/s] and the maximum efficiency was 30[%] in resonance frequency.

  • This paper is a study on a linear ultrasonic motor with a first longitudinal$(L_1)$ and fourth bending $(B_4)$ double-mode rectangular plate. The stator vibrator is composed of an elastic material plate and of a piezo-ceramic element having a motion by electrical excitation. Each strain vector differs by $90^{\circ}$ generate travelling wave with the elliptical displacement motion of a point on the surface. To magnify displacement of longitudinal direction in elliptical displacement motion, the motor has a mechanism of the.displacement enlargement. In this paper, the vibration shape of the stator is simulated using the finite element method. A detailed model considered of the piezoelectric effect and of the exact geometry of the stator is used to calculate the displacement. The position of displacement mechanism is decided by the maximum displacement.

  • In this paper, we studied the properties of small-size disk-type ultrasonic motor using travelling wave for the application to the precise control robotic joint motor and fabricated it. The diameter of the ultrasonic motor fabricated was 13mm. Also, the piezoelectric vibrator was constructed by piezoelectric ceramic and elastic material. The piezoelectric ceramic was composed to PZ-PT-PMN which was shown the high electromechanical stability under high vibration level and stainless steel was used as the elastic material in which configuration was disk-type. To conform the capability of application to robotic motor, we measured the change of rotational speed according to applied voltage and applied frequency. As the results, the small-size disk-type ultrasonic motor was able to fabricate, and the revolution speed was 350 (rpm) when input voltage was 55 (Vrms) and applied frequency 160.4 IkHz] under pre-load.
