The effect of dynamic property of absorbing sheet on the amplification of heavy weight floor impact noise (완충재의 동특성에 따른 중량충격음 증폭에 관한 해석적 연구)

  • Previous experimental results performed by many researchers for a couple of decades in South Korea have shown that an absorbing sheet inserted in a conventional floating slab system for thermal insulation or vibration absorption may amplify the vibration of the slab system at specific frequency ranges depending on the material properties of the sheet. The amplified vibration, consequently, results in the heavy weight floor impact noise exceeding the sound level limit for an apartment house, 50dB. In this study, the amplification mechanism is examined through numerical analysis and a new slab system is proposed to reduce the amplification and control the noise. The new slab system consists of studs connecting the base slab and upper concrete finishing yielding the dramatically increased stiffness of the slab. The numerical simulation is performed to investigate the effect of the slab system with studs on the vibration and noise control. The results show that the performance of the slab is sensitive to the number and location of studs, and the heavy weight floor impact noise can be reduced up to 6-7dB compared to the conventional slab system at the optimal stud location.

  • In this paper, the sound radiation level of parts of a O.B. Motor was measured and analyzed by the measurement method using wave-guide reverberation environment. Based on the above measurement results, a noise control was established for engine cover and exhaust silencer and its effects were compared and analyzed. The noise control method increased transmission loss by painting GELNAC on the engine cover and extend exhaust pipe to reach under water.

  • ER mount is often used instead of rubber mount in cylindrical shell to improve the vibration and noise performanec. The noise radiated by cylindrical shell will be reduced by reducing the force transmitted to the cylindrical shell through ER mount. In this paper, LQ control theory is used to reduce the transmitted force to the cylindrical shell. The finite element method of cylindrical shell is formulated by NASTRAN and its vibrating shape is calculated in frequency domain. (omitted)

  • Nonlinear aeroelastic characteristics of a missile control surface are investigated in this study. The wing model has freeplay structural nonlinearity at its pitch axis. Nonlinear aerodynamic flows with unsteady shock waves are also considered in high-speed flow region.   • The method of the reducing duct noise can be classified by passive and active control techniques. However, passive control has a limited effect of noise reduction at low frequencies (below 500Hz) and is limited by the space. On the other hand, active control can overcome these passive control limitations. The active control technique mostly uses the Least-Mean-Square (LMS) algorithm, because the LMS algorithm can easily obtain the complex transfer function in real-time particularly when the Filtered-X LMS (FXLMS) algorithm is applied to an active noise control (ANC) system. However, the convergence performance of the LMS algorithm decreases slightly so it may delay the convergence time when the FXLMS algorithm is applied to the active control of duct noise. Thus the Co-FXLMS algorithm was developed to improve the control performance in order to solve this problem. The Co-FXLMS algorithm is realized by using an estimate of the cross correlation between the adaptation error and the filtered input signal to control the step size. In this paper, the performance of the Co-FXLMS algorithm is presented in comparison with the FXLMS algorithm. Simulation results show that active noise control using Co-FXLMS is effective in reducing duct noise.

  • It is very important to control the vibration transmitted from external utilities and the transient response due to the internal sources for the precision equipment, which is very sensitive to the vibration environment. The anti-vibration tables that use air springs have been widely used due to their excellent isolation performance, but the systems with high flexibility have the critical problem of large transient response by the impulsive force of the moving mass in operation of the equipment. In this paper, the hybrid vibration control system is proposed, which is combined the air springs with the semi-active MR dampers in order to satisfy the performances of isolation and vibration reduction simutaneously.

  • In this study, we investigate active control of noise transmitted through a window of enclosures minimizing the acoustic power. To reduce noise of the enclosures, passive methods with absorbing material are generally used. The passive methods, however, are limited use due to the vantilation windows. In this case, these windows are path of noise leakage. Feedforward active noise control technology is applied to minimize the sound power from the enclosure. The feedforward controller is implemented with FIR filter based on the transfer functions calculated numerically. The controller reflects the delay due to FIR filter. The noise transmitted through the window is actively controlled, and the reduction of the power is obtained by 15dB.

Noise Control of an Air Intake system for a Four-Cylinder Engine (4기통 엔진의 흡기계 소음제어)

  • Noise control process of an air intake system for a four-cylinder automotive engine is described. The objective of the process is reduction of induction noise without losing engine performance and changing package layout. The theory and feasibility for noise control elements are also discussed. In general, four-cylinder engines generate a lower frequency induction noise around 80-150 Hz (2400-4500 rpm) and firing frequency, valve impact noise are the main sources. In this paper, the most problematic noise source is identified first and better position of air inlet is selected between inside-fender and out-of-fender layouts. Secondly, the possible noise control approach and CAE analysis results are compared to those from speaker excitation tests. Finally, the effect of the controlled intake system after the installation to an automobile is presented.
