  • Estimation of reverberant time is one of important factor for the calculation of absorption ration of absorption material. In general the digital filter bank has been used for the, estimation of decay curve of the sound pressure in a reverberant room. However at low frequency, it is not easy to get a good linear decay curve for the estimation of reverberant time. Now, wavelet transform is applied to this difficult task, a good result has been obtained at low frequency. The decay curve using wavelet filter bank is better than that using digital filter bank at low frequency. At higher frequency, both curves are similar.

  • Glass fiber is widely used in architectural acoustics or building acoustics for sound absorption since it was introduced into China for about 50 years. But recent years, with people pay more attentions to the air cleansing and their health which may be affected by the tiny fiber of the glasswool, a voluntary tendency opposing glass fiber of room using is gradual appeared in China. This paper discusses both the main opinions towards the question whether there are harmful impacts on people health from glassfiber, and the application circumstance of it's applying in china. This paper focuses on another substitute sound absorbing material, melamine foam, to discuss the strong environmental friendly tendency opposing glass fiber of room using in China now.

  • This study aim to find an appropriate window for class rooms to provide proper sound insulation against aircraft noise and to achieve this, measurements were taken of the sound insulation performance of windows with varying thicknesses of inner air space and sound absorption materials in the inner air spaces. As a result of (his study the improvement of the sound insulation performance of windows(single , double and triple window) has been shown through the analysis and the measuring of windows with these characteristics. These results may be applied to the manufacture of window frames and provide data lot the improvement of the sound insulation performance of windows.

  • Acoustic materials are used for the purpose of absorbing noise and reducing transmission of sound into the receiving room. The purpose of this research is to predict the performance of absorbent materials with respect to absorbing behavior and transmission loss as possible as accurately. The performance of the absorbent materials are carried out systematically as follows: The Biot parameter are measured, first. Then using above parameters as input, LMS's SYSNOISE and VIOLINS programs are used to predict absorption coefficient and transmission loss values, which magnitudes are compared with experimental results. As an sample acoustic material, SK SKY VIVA and PET are selected.

  • For the noise reduction measures in a construction field or near the traffic line receiver is often the most economic measure in order to exclude the propagated sound. The dimension of the barrier is decided by the noise and construction design, and the constructive quality of a soundproof panel shall be secured in accordance with KS F4770 to guarantee the safety of sound barriers. In this paper the problems included in the KS F4770-1 that is the regulation for the metallic sound barrier of the absorption type are identified and it is suggested what to be corrected or improved. Through a series of the analyses, conclusions were reached that it is required to improve test methods in KS F4770-1 as well as to break down test loads for building more cost-effective sound barrier.

  • In this study, the validity of the acoustic impedance model and the estimation model by electro-acoustic analogy suggested by Maa for predicting the absorptive performance of multiple layer perforated plate systems is investigated. From the comparison between the experiment and calculation for the absorption performance of double layer perforated plate system, the calculated results of using Rao and Munjal's impedance model and transfer matrix method are closer to the experimental values than those of using Maa's impedance model and electro-acoustic analogy. Therefore, in order to apply the acoustic impedance model and the estimation model by electro-acoustic analogy suggested by Maa to the multiple layer perforated plate systems, it is necessary that the suggested acoustic impedance and estimation models should be re-examined.

  • Green roof systems has widely been used on rooftop of buildings by considering environmental benefits in aspects of bio-diversity, storm-water runoff as well as noise reduction. To predict noise reduction effect by green roof systems, it is necessary to measure in-situ acoustical properties of the components by devices enabling in-situ measurements. In this study, Micro-flown, which is the state of the arts device to measure in-situ normalized impedance and absorption coefficient has been used to measure acoustical properties of green roof materials according to different water saturation condition in the materials.

  • In ISO 10140-5:2010, defines the reverberation time conditions of the receiving room. The sound absorption side of test specimen is installed in the source room generally. In this study, examined at the change in the sound insulation characteristics for the test specimen of asymmetric structure attached sound absorbing material by changing the installed position. A difference of sound insulation performance was maxium Rw 1 dB, it is preferable to place the larger sound absorption area in source room.

  • A sound field in a reverberation room is analyzed by using numerical methods and the SPL distributions are compared to the measurements. In numerical predictions, the BEM is employed in the low frequency range, while sound ray tracing method is used for the high frequency range. In the BEM analysis, the surfaces of the empty reverberation room are assumed as rigid boundaries and the damping coefficients are estimated from the measured absorption coefficient. The comparisons with measurements for 100Hz shows good agreement. In the sound ray tracing analysis, the predicted energy decay are in excellent agreements with theoretical results. It is shown that the energy absorption by air damping plays an important role as frequency becomes higher.

  • The purpose of this study is to find ways of recycling a great amount of gypsum as by-product from the manufacture of phosphate fertilizer. For the purpose, this researcher investigated physical properties of light weight Porous material using waste gypsum and a foaming agent, Sodium n-dodecyl Sulfate to utilize it as a interior material of construction. To determine such properties, the study examined pore size distribution and pore rate in accordance with contents of Sodium n-dodecyl Sulfate added. Then expanded vermiculite as light-weight aggregate was also added, when pore size distribution, pore rate and sound absorption rate were surveyed and measured.
