Development of roll - up ventilation system for pipe- constructed plastic film greenhouse (파이프 비닐온실용 권취식 창개폐기의 개발)

  • This study was carried out to get required torque data needed to design and develop a roll-up ventilation system in a pipe-constructed plastic film green-house. The results obtained from this study are as follows : 1. The required torques of a roll-up ventilation system in greenhouse are the functions of its length. The torques should multiplied by the conversion coefficients (2.0 in ceiling vent, 1.8 in side vent) in case of application. 2. In constructing pipe-constructed plastic film greenhouse, a shaft pipe is the largest essential element in roll - up shaft weight constitution which have an effect on the required torques. Therefore, the pipe should be light using nonferrous materials like aluminum alloy. 3. A planetary reduction ventilator of differential ring gear type is suitable for a roll-up ventilation system, because it can make high efficient reduction just using the first step shift.

  • Outlet of gas has been a big problem in deforming rubber or plastic in pressing mold. Air vent has been used to solve the problem, but it has weak points such as the increased cost, the increased number of process, and vent marks on the surface of a produce. In this study, the sintering method is used for making porous metal mold. Porous metal mold has many open pores, which are very small. When Porous metal mold is used for pressing mold, all process would be made short, produce cost would be down, and it would not leave vent marks on the surface of a produce. Porosity varies from sintering and pressing conditions, which are the pressure of compacting powder, the length of sintering time, sintering temperature and sintering atmosphere etc. This study will find optimized sintering temperature condition for the Porous metal mold.

The Effect of Air Vent Holes and Stacking Methods of Fruits and Vegetables Boxes on Static Pressure Drop in Pressure Cooling System (청과물상자의 통기공 및 상자적재방법이 정압강하에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of air vent holes, stacking methods of boxes and clearance between boxes on static pressure drop, were measured to design of pressure cooling system. Static pressure drops in air vent hole of carton box were measured for different hole opening ratio from 1% to 5%. Static pressure drop was expressed as a function of superficial velocity as second-degree polynomial. At given static pressure in plenum chamber, static pressure drop in boxes was shown as second-degree polynomial of the number of carton box in series stacking method, as first-degree polynomial in height and parallel stacking method. In pressure cooling of 24 boxes of Tsugaru apple, air flow rates through clearance between the boxes were shown 1.27 and 1.65 times than those of through the inside of boxes at the plenum pressure of 10mmAq and 20mmAq, respectively.

Effect of Evacuation Variables on Pressure Change in the Die Cavity (다이캐스팅 금형 공간 내의 감압도에 미치는 제 변수의 영향)

  • There are two types of vacuum die casting, one is known as the chill block method, and the other is the valve block method. Efficiency of the valve block method is better than the chill block method. However purchasing and maintaining cost of the former one is very high, the latter method is popular in many small and medium die casting shops. Simple evacuation system using chill vent was prepared to investigate the effect of the air pressure, hose length and chill vent type on the pressure change in die cavity in this study. The rate of evacuation was influenced by the evacuation method, chill vent condition and hose length. Evacuation time became longer and vacuum level lower when evacuating cavity via chill vent. It took a longer time to evacuate the cavity when a longer hose was used. Vacuum level in the cavity also decreased with increase in hose length.

TEM Observations of Chemosynthetic Bacteria in the Deep-sea Hydrothermal Vents and Seep Organisms

  • Symbiosis of chemoautrophic bacteria with the members of hydrothermal vent and cold seep communities in the deep-sea were examined by histology using transmission electron microscopy; Bathymodiolus spp. from Sagami Bay, the Iheya Ridge and the North Fiji Basin; and Ifremeria nautilei from the North Fiji Basin. Two species of Bathymodiolus, each from Sagami Bay and the Iheya Ridge harbored methane-oxidizing symbionts within their gill tissues. Vent gastropod Ifremeria nautilei from the hydrothermal vents of the North Fiji Basin housed two types of symbionts; one sulfur-oxidizing type and the other methane-oxidizing type. The occurrence of chemosynthetic symbionts in these organisms were expected before-hand based on the ecological observations of their habit. The other members of these groups from world oceans and the recent advances in the symbiosis of the vent and seep communities were reviewed.

  • For the robust passenger NCAP 5star and the stable neck injury performance, a new concept of passenger airbag has been required strongly. Especially, the deployment stability and the vent hole control technology of the passenger airbag should be improved. According to these requirements, the deployment stability technique has been studied and the 'Active Vent' technology has been developed. As a result, these technologies have led to achieve the robust NCAP rating and are applied to the production vehicles.

  • We have designed the vent relief valve to set bi-level safety pressure for oxidizer tank. The minimum cavity volume was calculated to reduce the pressure deviation, and the valve operation characteristics was analyzed by using modeling. We have a plan to manufacture the validation model based on the analysis results.

An Experimental Study of Smoke Movement in Tunnel Fires According to Ventilation Method (터널화재시 환기방식에 따른 연기거동에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, reduced-scale experiments were conducted to analyze smoke movement in tunnel fires according to vepntilation method. The 1/20 scale experiments were carried out under the Froude scaling using gasoline pool fires ranging from 6.6 to 10 cm in diameter corresponding to total heat release rate from 0.714 to 2.5 kW. Temperatures near the ceiling were lowered by installing the vent, and much lowered by operating fan compared wiht tile case without vent. In case of forced ventilation, the exhaust fan was more effective than the intake fan. Vertical temperatures at the upper part of the tunnel were also lowered by installing the vent. But, when suction fan was operated, temperatures at the lower part of the tunnel were higher than that without vent.
