Relative intensities of photons emitted from tilted carbon foils have been measured in the wavelength region 300800 nm by 0,6-2,4 MeV $H^{+}\;and\;He^{+}$ ion impacts, Ions were directed onto target surfaces at tilt angles with respect to the sllrface normal, Experimental results support the model that the observed continuum radiation is emitted from the exited carbon foil itself. At each incident projectile energy, the photon intensities of continuum spectra for tilted carbon foi Is were compatred to the stoppi ng powers of carbon for $H^{+}\;and\;He^{+}$ ions, It was found that the photon emission intensity for $H^{+}$ ion is linearly proportional to the stopping power, whereas that for $He^{+}$ ions is proportional to a higher power of the stopping power, and that this tendency increases wi th decreasing velocity of the projectiIes[1, 2].[1, 2].

Seismic designs for Korean nuclear power plants (NPPs) under earthquakes' design basis are noticed due to the recent earthquake events in Korea and Japan. Japan has developed the technologies and experiences of the NPPs through theoretical research and experimental verification with extensively accumulated measurement data. This paper describes the main features of the design-time history complying with the Japanese seismic design standard. Proper seed motions in the earthquake catalog are used to generate one set of design time histories. A magnitude and epicentral distance specify the amplitude envelope function configuring the shape of the earthquake. Cumulative velocity response spectral values of the design time histories are compared and checked to the target response spectra. Spectral accelerations of the time histories and the multiple-damping target response spectra are also checked to exceed. The generated design time histories are input to the reactor building seismic analyses with fixed-base boundary conditions to calculate the seismic responses. Another set of design time histories is generated to comply with Korean seismic design procedures for NPPs and used for seismic input motions to the same reactor containment building seismic analyses. The responses at the dome apex of the building are compared and analyzed. The generated design time histories will be also applied to subsequent seismic analyses of other Korean standard NPP structures.

Although the identification of a moving noise source is important in reducing the source power of the transport systems such as airplane or high speed train, the direct measurement of the frequency characteristics is usually difficult due to wind noise when using a microphone running with that noise source. On the other hand the motion of a source causes the frequency characteristics of the pass-by sound measured at a fixed point to be distorted that it is quite difficult to identify the original source characteristics. In this study the relationship between the spectra of the source and the pass-by sound signal is analyzed for a source moving at a constant velocity. The effects of the speed and the frequency characteristics of the source on the pass-by noise spectrum are investigated through numerical simulations.

The analytical realization of uncoupled system was introduced in this study using times series and its spectrum analysis. The ARMAX spectra of time series methods were compared with the conventional FFT spectrum. Also, the response of second order system uncoupled was solved using the Runge-Kutta Gill method. In this numerical analysis, the displacement, velocity and acceleration were calculated. The displacement response among them was used for the power spectrum analysis. The ARMAX algorithm in time series was proved to be appropriate for the mode estimation and spectrum analysis. Using the separate response of first and second mode, each modes were calculated separately and the response of mixed modes was also analyzed for the mode estimation using several time series methods.
Using data from the design earthquake of the Korean standard nuclear power plant, seismic analyses of a fuel assembly are conducted in this study. The modal characteristics are used to develop an input deck for the seismic analysis. With a time history analysis, the responses of the fuel assembly in the event of an earthquake are obtained. In particular, the displacement, velocity, and acceleration responses at the center location of the fuel assembly are obtained in the time domain, with these outcomes then used for a detailed structural analysis of the fuel rods in the ensuing analyses. The response spectra are also generated to determine the response characteristics in the frequency domain. The structural integrity of the fuel assembly can be ensured through this type of time history analysis considering the input excitations of various earthquakes considered in the design.

The identification of a moving noise source is important in reducing the source power of the transport systems such as airplanes or high speed trains. However, the direct measurement using a microphone running with noise source is usually difficult due to wind noise, white the source motion distorts the frequency characteristics of the pass-by sound measured at a fixed point. In this study the relationship between the spectra of the source and the pass-by sound signal is analyzed for an acoustic source moving at a constant velocity. Spectrum of the sound signal measured at a fixed point has an integral relationship with the source spectrum. Nevertheless direct conversion of the measured spectrum to the source spectrum is ill-posed due to the singularity of the integral kernel. Alternatively a differential equation approach is proposed, where the source characteristics can be recovered by solving a differential equation relating the source signal to the distorted measurement in time domain. The parameters such as the source speed and the time origin, required beforehand, are also determined only from the frequency-phase relationship using an auxiliary measurement. With the help of the regularization method, the source signal is successfully recovered. The effects of the parameter errors to the estimated frequency characteristics of the source are investigated through numerical simulations.
We develop a parallel cosmological hydrodynamic simulation code designed for the study of formation and evolution of cosmological structures. The gravitational force is calculated using the TreePM method and the hydrodynamics is implemented based on the smoothed particle hydrodynamics. The initial displacement and velocity of simulation particles are calculated according to second-order Lagrangian perturbation theory using the power spectra of dark matter and baryonic matter. The initial background temperature is given by Recfast and the temperature uctuations at the initial particle position are assigned according to the adiabatic model. We use a time-limiter scheme over the individual time steps to capture shock-fronts and to ease the time-step tension between the shock and preshock particles. We also include the astrophysical gas processes of radiative heating/cooling, star formation, metal enrichment, and supernova feedback. We test the code in several standard cases such as one-dimensional Riemann problems, Kelvin-Helmholtz, and Sedov blast wave instability. Star formation on the galactic disk is investigated to check whether the Schmidt-Kennicutt relation is properly recovered. We also study global star formation history at different simulation resolutions and compare them with observations.

Combustion noise involved with chemical heat release and turbulent process in turbopropulsion systems, gasturbine, industrial furnaces and internal engines is indeed noisy. The experimental study reported in this paper is made to identify a dominant combustion noise in jet flames. Gaseous propane and kerosene fuel have been used with air as the oxidizer in a different jet combustion systems. Combustion and aerodynamic noise are studied through far field sound pressure measurements in an anechoic chamber. And also mean temperature and velocities and turbulent intensities of both isothermal and reacting flow fields were measured. It is shown that axial mean velocity of reacting flow fields is higher about 1 to 3m/sec than that of cold flow in a gaseous combustor. As the gaseous fuel flow rate increases, the acoustic power increases. But the sound pressure level for the spray flame decreases with increasing equivalence ratio. The influence of temperature in the combustion fields due to chemical heat release has been observed to be a dominant noise source in the spray flame. The spectra of combustion noise in gaseous propane and kerosene jet flame show a predominantly low frequency and a broadband nature as compared with the noise characteristics in an isothermal air jet.
Articulated tower platforms due to its compliant nature are more susceptible to the dynamic effects of wind than conventional fixed platforms. Dynamic response analysis of a double hinged articulated tower excited by low frequency wind forces with random waves is presented in this paper. The exposed super structure of the platform, housing the drilling and production facilities is subjected to mean and fluctuating wind loads, while the submerged portion is acted upon by wind driven waves. The fluctuating component of the wind velocity is modeled by Emil Simiu's spectrum, while the sea state is characterized by Pierson-Moskowitz spectrum. Nonlinearities in the system due to drag force, added mass, variable submergence and instantaneous tower orientation are considered in the analysis. To account for these nonlinearities, an implicit time integration scheme (Newmark's-${\beta}$) has been employed which solves the equation of motion in an iterative fashion and response time histories are obtained. The power spectra obtained from random response time histories show the significance of low frequency responses.
High-resolution wind data were acquired from a 100-m high offshore tower during the passage of Typhoon Hagupit in September, 2008. The meteorological tower was equipped with an ultrasonic anemometer and a number of cup anemometers at heights between 10 and 100 m. Wind characteristics of the strong typhoon, such as mean wind speed and wind direction, turbulence intensity, turbulence integral length scale, gust factor and power spectra of wind velocity, vertical profiles of mean wind speed were investigated in detail based on the wind data recorded during the strong typhoon. The measured results revealed that the wind characteristics in different stages during the typhoon varied remarkably. Through comparison with non-typhoon wind measurements, the phenomena of enhanced levels of turbulence intensity, gust factors, turbulence integral length scale and spectral magnitudes in typhoon boundary layer were observed. The monitored data and analysis results are expected to be useful for the wind-resistant design of offshore structures and buildings on seashores in typhoon-prone regions.
