  • Blind Source Separation (BSS) is a technique used to separate supposed independent sources of signals from a given set of observations. In this paper, the High Exploration Particle Swarm Optimization (HEPSO) algorithm, which is an enhancement of the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm, has been used to separate a set of source signals. Compared to PSO algorithm, HEPSO algorithm depends on two additional operators. The first operator is based on the multi-crossover mechanism of the genetic algorithm while the second one relies on the bee colony mechanism. Both operators have been employed to update the velocity and the position of the particles respectively. Thus, they are used to find the optimal separating matrix. The proposed method enhances the overall efficiency of the standard PSO in terms of good exploration and performance. Based on many tests realized on speech and music signals supplied by the BSS demo, experimental results confirm the robustness and the accuracy of the introduced BSS technique.

  • This paper provides a mathematical approach for estimating flood risks due to the effects of climate change by developing a one dimensional (1D) hydraulic model for the mountainous river reaches located close to the Yeongwol thermal power plant. Input data for the model, including topographical data and river discharges measured every 10 minutes from July $1^{st}$ to September $30^{th}$, 2013, were imported to a 1D hydraulic model. Climate change scenarios were estimated by referencing the climate change adaptation strategies of the government and historical information about the extreme flood event in 2006. The down stream boundary was determined as the friction slope, which is 0.001. The roughness coefficient of the main channels was determined to be 0.036. The results show the effectiveness of the riverbed widening strategy through the six flooding scenarios to reduce flood depth and flow velocity that impact on the power plant. In addition, the impact of upper Namhan River flow is more significant than Dong River.

  • Autonomous vehicles require precise knowledge of their position, velocity and orientation in all weather and traffic conditions in any time. And, these information is effectively used for path planning, perception, and control that are key factors for safety of vehicle driving. For this purpose, a high precision GNSS technology is widely adopted in autonomous vehicles as a core localization and navigation method. However, due to the lack of infrastructure as well as cost issue regarding GNSS correction data communication, only a few high precision GNSS technology will be available for future commercial autonomous vehicles. Recently, a high precision GNSS sensor that is based on a Broadcast-RTK system to dramatically reduce network maintenance cost by utilizing the existing broadcasting network is released. In this paper, we present the performance test result of the broadcast-RTK-based commercial high precision GNSS receiver to test the feasibility of the system for autonomous driving in Korea. Massive measurement campaigns covering of Korea region were performed, and the obtained measurements were analyzed in terms of ambiguity fixing rate, integer ambiguity loss recovery, time to retry ambiguity fixing, average correction information update rate as well as accuracy in comparison to other high precision systems.

  • A commercial flow measurement radar sensor estimates a quantity of flowed water using surface flow rate. In this way, the amount of water flowing per unit time cannot be measured accurately because of using an estimation result and it can't response environmental changes. For more accurate flow measurements we need width of waterway, water level and distance that water moved per unit time. Commonly two sensors are used to measure water level and flow rate. In this paper, we propose a method to simultaneously measure the water level and surface flow velocity using a single FMCW radar sensor and design the transmission waveform. In order to verify the waveform design, received signal is modelled based on transmission waveform. In addition, we consider phenomenons and problems that may occur in signal processing.

  • Background and Objectives: The integration of auditory-visual speech information improves speech perception; however, if the auditory system input is disrupted due to hearing loss, auditory and visual inputs cannot be fully integrated. Additionally, temporal coincidence of auditory and visual input is a significantly important factor in integrating the input of these two senses. Time delayed acoustic pathway caused by the signal passing through digital signal processing. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of hearing loss and hearing aid digital delay circuit on sound-induced flash illusion. Subjects and Methods: A total of 13 adults with normal hearing, 13 with mild to moderate hearing loss, and 13 with moderate to severe hearing loss were enrolled in this study. Subsequently, the sound-induced flash illusion test was conducted, and the results were analyzed. Results: The results showed that hearing aid digital delay and hearing loss had no detrimental effect on sound-induced flash illusion. Conclusions: Transmission velocity and neural transduction rate of the auditory inputs decreased in patients with hearing loss. Hence, the integrating auditory and visual sensory cannot be combined completely. Although the transmission rate of the auditory sense input was approximately normal when the hearing aid was prescribed. Thus, it can be concluded that the processing delay in the hearing aid circuit is insufficient to disrupt the integration of auditory and visual information.

  • This paper presents an vulnerable road user (VRU) classification and tracking algorithm using vision and LiDAR sensor fusion method for urban autonomous driving. The classification and tracking for vulnerable road users such as pedestrian, bicycle, and motorcycle are essential for autonomous driving in complex urban environments. In this paper, a real-time object image detection algorithm called Yolo and object tracking algorithm from LiDAR point cloud are fused in the high level. The proposed algorithm consists of four parts. First, the object bounding boxes on the pixel coordinate, which is obtained from YOLO, are transformed into the local coordinate of subject vehicle using the homography matrix. Second, a LiDAR point cloud is clustered based on Euclidean distance and the clusters are associated using GNN. In addition, the states of clusters including position, heading angle, velocity and acceleration information are estimated using geometric model free approach (GMFA) in real-time. Finally, the each LiDAR track is matched with a vision track using angle information of transformed vision track and assigned a classification id. The proposed fusion algorithm is evaluated via real vehicle test in the urban environment.

  • The goal of pattern mining is to identify novel patterns in a database. High utility itemset mining (HUIM) is a research direction for pattern mining. This is different from frequent itemset mining (FIM), which additionally considers the quantity and profit of the commodity. Several algorithms have been used to mine high utility itemsets (HUIs). The original BPSO algorithm lacks local search capabilities in the subsequent stage, resulting in insufficient HUIs to be mined. Compared to the transfer function used in the original PSO algorithm, the V-shaped transfer function more sufficiently reflects the probability between the velocity and position change of the particles. Considering the influence of the acceleration factor on the particle motion mode and trajectory, a nonlinear acceleration strategy was used to enhance the search ability of the particles. Experiments show that the number of mined HUIs is 73% higher than that of the original BPSO algorithm, which indicates better performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • INS(Inertial Navigation System) calculates navigation information using a vehicle's acceleration and angular velocity without the outside information. However, when navigation is performed for a long time, navigation error gradually diverges and the performance decreases. To enhance INS's performance, the rotation of inertial measurement unit is developed to compensate error sources of inertial sensors, which is called RINS(Rotational Inertial Navigation System). This paper analyzes the influence of several errors for dual-axis RINS and the shows the results using simulation.

  • This study aimed to analyze the performance of hydraulic systems for dental chair when long working hours makes the temperature of hydraulic fluid rise. The study was carried out in the following manner. First, 'cylinder's clearance' was reflected in the three kinds of hydraulic circuits, which were developed through the preceding study, in order to analyze oil leak. Second, 12 cases of simulations comprised of the up and down of cylinders were carried out. Third, it was determined whether the cylinder velocity of dental chair surpasses 1cm/s required in the development even in the hydraulic fluid temperature of 60℃. In conclusion, this study used SimulationX to verify the performance stability at high temperatures using three types of hydraulic circuits designed to develop a Korean unit chair.
