  • Upper stage of launch vehicle mainly injects a lunar explorer from low earth orbit to the moon at a distance of 380,000 km. In foreign lunar explorer, the upper stage is separated from the explorer after the explorer is injected into the earth-moon transfer trajectory, and the lunar explorer then uses on-board propellant to carry out mid-course correction maneuvers and lunar orbit insertion maneuvers. This study describes a newly presented small liquid upper stage. Using a small liquid upper stage with a wet mass of 2.9 tonnes, the lunar explorer not only can be injected earth-moon transfer trajectory but also can be performed lunar orbit insertion. This study provides acceptable mass range of the lunar explorer and the scope of acceptable mission range also describes based on the launch from Naro Space Center.

  • Lane extraction and lane departure warning algorithms using the image sensor attached in the vehicle are addressed. With the research about intelligent automobile, there have been many algorithms about lane recognition and lane departure warning system. However, since these algorithms require to detect 2 lanes, the high time complexity and the low recognition rate under various driving circumstances are critical problems. In this paper, we present a lane departure warning algorithm using single lane extraction and center point analysis that achieves the fast processing time and high detection rate. From the geometry between camera and objects, the region of interest (ROI) is determined and splitted into two parts. Hough transform detects the part of the lane. After the detected lane is restored to have a pre-determined size, lane departure is estimated by calculating the distance from the center point. On real driving environments, the presented algorithm is compared with previous algorithms. Experiment results support that the presented algorithm is fast and accurate.

  • Electrical door system is one of the most essential items for the successful commercial operation of the railway vehicles. Nowadays, reliability values of electrical door system have a tendency to be included in technical requirements for design and manufacturing of rolling stocks. Manufacturer shall meet the reliability target values of electrical door system which is proposed by railway operator in procurement contract book. Railway operator shall approve the supplier's the reliability target values based on maintenance operation data. Railway operators are in the transition stage from the framework of maintenance interval based on time to the framework of maintenance interval based on distance. In this study, failure rates of the electrical door system currently used in railway vehicles are collected from maintenance field data. Failure rates are analyzed by using Minitab. Several kinds of plan for improving reliability are also suggested. It is necessary to keep studying on reliability prediction methodology, applying it in the field and implementing on improvement of reliability through feedback as well. Further, it will be useful for determining new maintenance policies or changing maintenance intervals for existing railway vehicles.

  • The most important thing for driver's safety on the road is equipment of crash cushion as a vehicle protection safety facility. But development of crash cushion is defective because there's no rational and reality way of design. And also without an alternative plan, it rely on crash test hereby it suffers a great economic loss and wastes time. This study that uses data of cash test proves the suitability of single degree of freedom which considers the safety of passengers about three-dimensional complicated Crash Analysis. As the study analyzes the conduct of crash cushion, it want to develop the effective method of design on Single Degree of Freedom Crash Cushion. And it presents the way of crash cushion design through making a crash analysis model with single degree of freedom. To verify the validness of the crash cushion plan, with single degree of freedom plan, we make the level CC2 crash cushion and execute the crash test. A performance test brings satisfied result and a plan of single degree of freedom crash cushion is proven as an one of the way to be a good system which can design crash cushion.

  • With the ever-growing amount of traffic, there is an increasing need for good quality travel time information. Various existing outlier filtering and missing data imputation algorithms using AVI data for interrupted and uninterrupted traffic flow have been proposed. This paper is devoted to development of an outlier filtering and missing data imputation algorithm by using Toll Collection System (TCS) data. TCS travel time data collected from August to September 2007 were employed. Travel time data from TCS are made out of records of every passing vehicle; these data have potential for providing real-time travel time information. However, the authors found that as the distance between entry tollgates and exit tollgates increases, the variance of travel time also increases. Also, time gaps appeared in the case of long distances between tollgates. Finally, the authors propose a new method for making representative values after removal of abnormal and "noise" data and after analyzing existing methods. The proposed algorithm is effective.

  • Current highway design standards is based on the safety under the free flow condition. The length of deceleration lane is also determined in terms of the deceleration distance which is necessary for the driers to adjust the vehicle speed from the speed limit on the main road to that on the exit ramp of the interchange. However, the queues are frequently developed on the deceleration, and the following vehicles to exit must decelerate on the main road. It may cause delay on the main road and traffic accidents. This study is to suggest a methodology to minimize such problems with the shock-wave theory. The queue length of exiting vehicles can be estimated by the design speeds, traffic volumes of main road and the exiting ramp, and the countermeasures to the operational problems. According to the results, the queue length can be shortened to 80% by upgrading the design speed of exit ramp as the amount of 10km/h. Fifty percent of queue length can be shortened by adding an additional lane on the ramp to two lanes.

  • The development of applications for vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) has very specific and clear goals such as providing intellectual safe transport systems. An emergency warning technic for public safety is one of the applications which requires an intelligent broadcast mechanism to transmit warning messages quickly and efficiently against the time restriction. The broadcast storm problem causing several packet collisions and extra delay has to be considered to design a broadcast protocol for VANETs, when multiple nodes attempt transmission simultaneously at the access control layer. In this paper, we propose an early intelligent alert broadcasting (EI-CAST) algorithm to resolve effectively the broadcast storm problem and meet time-critical requirement. The proposed algorithm uses not only the early alert technic on the basis of time to collision (TTC) but also the intelligent broadcasting technic on the basis of fuzzy logic, and the performance of the proposed algorithm was compared and evaluated through simulation with the existing broadcasting algorithms. It was demonstrated that the proposed algorithm shows a vehicle can receive the alert message before a collision and have no packet collision when the distance of alert region is less than 4 km.

  • This paper is represented to research of driving control for the forklift AGV. The related works that were studied about AGV as heavy equipment used two methods which are magnet-gyro and wire guidance for localization. However, they have weaknesses that are high cost, difficult maintenance according to change of environment. In this paper, we develop localization system through sensor fusion with laser navigation system and encoder, gyro for robustness. Also we design driving controller using fuzzy and proportional control. It considers distance and angle difference between forklift AGV and pallet for engaging work. To analyze performance of the proposed control system, we experiment in same working condition over 10 times. In the results, the average error was presented with 54.16mm between simulation of control navigation and real control navigation. Consequently, experimental result shows that the performance of proposed control system is effective.
