The Avata Construction System for Image Lossless Scaling (이미지 손실없는 확대/축소가 가능한 아바타 생성 시스템)

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented Avata construction system using XML(extensible Markup Language) and SVG(Scalable Vector Graphic). The Web character created with Avata(or Web character) construction system are displayed in same (on without damage of image, regardless terminal type and user can modify and change image easily in form that want. Compare with existing Web character system, the Reusability of web character part element Is increased greatly with Avata construction system of this paper. Because SVG is described by text, graphic retrieval is convenient, and applications can use easily SVG document. Also, SVG can create web graphic document dynamically with database because can access easily in all graphic primitives of line, Polygon, text, image etc. As well as web character using study finding, we may develop usable technology to some contents on World Wide Web.

  • This paper presents a method that generates various facial expressions of vector graphic character by using the simplified principle component vector. First, we analyze principle components to the nine facial expression(astonished, delighted, etc.) redefined based on Russell's internal emotion state. From this, we find principle component vector having the biggest effect on the character's facial feature and expression and generate the facial expression by using that. Also we create natural intermediate characters and expressions by interpolating weighting values to character's feature and expression. We can save memory space considerably, and create intermediate expressions with a small computation. Hence the performance of character generation system can be considerably improved in web, mobile service and game that real time control is required.

  • This paper proposes an automatic facial expression generation system of vector graphic character using gaussian process model. Proposed method extracts the main feature vectors from twenty-six facial data of character redefined based on Russell's internal emotion state. Also by using new gaussian process model, SGPLVM, we find low-dimensional feature data from extracted high-dimensional feature vectors, and learn probability distribution function (PDF). All parameters of PDF are estimated by maximization the likelihood of learned expression data, and these are used to select wanted facial expressions on two-dimensional space in real time. As a result of simulation, we confirm that proposed facial expression generation tool is working in the small facial expression datasets and can generate various facial expressions without prior knowledge about relation between facial expression and emotion.

  • In this study, we propose a new procedure for improving the character recognition of text area extracted from video images. The recognition of strings extracted from video, which are mixed with Hangul, English, numbers and special characters, etc., is more difficult than general character recognition because of various fonts and size, graphic forms of letters tilted image, disconnection, miscellaneous videos, tangency, characters of low definition, etc. We improved the recognition rate by taking commonly used letters and leaving out the barely used ones instead of recognizing all of the letters, and then using SVM and RDA character recognition methods. Our numerical results indicate that combining SVM and RDA performs better than other methods.

  • To propose the construction of architectural interior design and communication using graphic, web3D, it was studied the kind and character of various representation methods that can be embodied in an architectural interior design on the web, and looks into whether these ways can be adapted to an architectural interior design process. Especially, the use of the current techniques on graphic and CAD data give the most suitable effect by using the integrated data such as vector animation, an interaction of object VR(Virtual Reality), a high quality of panorama VR, and data treatment and its interaction of drawing of cad data. As a result, the single data format shows not only one image representation but also a stream of continuous operation through a change into another format. But this desired study expects that another next studies will go on interaction and integration of digital format with increase of transmission speed expected in the future, and a digital model and its practical methods.

  • PC, Notebook, PDA, Cellular telephone, Smart phone 등 많은 형식의 인터넷 단말기가 사용되고 있지만, 인터넷 상에 존재하는 많은 그래픽 요소들은 이러한 단말기의 형식에 많은 제약을 받고 있다. 또한 사용자가 원하는 형태로 직접 변형하는 것이 어렵고, 그래픽 부분 요소의 재사용이 불가능하다. 본 논문에서는 차세대 마크업 언어로 각광받고 있는 XML(Extensible Markup Language)의 그래픽 표준인 SVG(Scalable Vector Graphic)를 이용하여 어떤 단말기에서도 같은 형식으로 디스플레이 되고 사용자가 원하는 형태로 이미지의 수정 및 부분 요소의 재사용성을 놀인 웹 캐릭터 빌더(Builder)를 설계 및 구현하였다. 연구 결과를 이용하면 에이전트 상의 웹 캐릭터 혹은 웹 상에서 일어날 수 있는 어떠한 컨텐츠에도 사용할 수 있는 기술을 구현한 수 있을 것이다.

A Vehicle License Plate Recognition Using Intensity Variation and Geometric Pattern Vector (명암도 변화값과 기하학적 패턴벡터를 이용한 차량번호판 인식)

  • In this paper, we propose the react-time car license plate recognition algorithm using intensity variation and geometric pattern vector. Generally, difference of car license plate region between character and background is more noticeable than other regions. And also, car license plate region usually shows high density values as well as constant intensity variations. Based on these characteristics, we first extract car license plate region using intensity variations. Secondly, lightness compensation process is performed on the considerably dark and brightness input images to acquire constant extraction efficiency. In the proposed recognition step, we first pre-process noise reduction and thinning steps. And also, we use geometric pattern vector to extract features which independent on the size, translation, and rotation of input values. In the experimental results, the proposed method shows better computation times than conventional circular pattern vector and better extraction results regardless of irregular environment lighting conditions as well as noise, size, and location of plate.
