Dorsal Hand Vein Identification Based on Binary Particle Swarm Optimization

  • The dorsal hand vein biometric system developed has a main objective and specific targets; to get an electronic signature using a secure signature device. In this paper, we present our signature device with its different aims; respectively: The extraction of the dorsal veins from the images that were acquired through an infrared device. For each identification, we need the representation of the veins in the form of shape descriptors, which are invariant to translation, rotation and scaling; this extracted descriptor vector is the input of the matching step. The optimization decision system settings match the choice of threshold that allows accepting/rejecting a person, and selection of the most relevant descriptors, to minimize both FAR and FRR errors. The final decision for identification based descriptors selected by the PSO hybrid binary give a FAR =0% and FRR=0% as results.

A Multi-Objective TRIBES/OC-SVM Approach for the Extraction of Areas of Interest from Satellite Images

  • In this work, we are interested in the extraction of areas of interest from satellite images by introducing a MO-TRIBES/OC-SVM approach. The One-Class Support Vector Machine (OC-SVM) is based on the estimation of a support that includes training data. It identifies areas of interest without including other classes from the scene. We propose generating optimal training data using the Multi-Objective TRIBES (MO-TRIBES) to improve the performances of the OC-SVM. The MO-TRIBES is a parameter-free optimization technique that manages the search space in tribes composed of agents. It makes different behavioral and structural adaptations to minimize the false positive and false negative rates of the OC-SVM. We have applied our proposed approach for the extraction of earthquakes and urban areas. The experimental results and comparisons with different state-of-the-art classifiers confirm the efficiency and the robustness of the proposed approach.

  • The application of finding occurrences of a pattern that contains gaps includes information retrieval, data mining, and computational biology. As the biological sequences may contain errors, it is important to find not only the exact occurrences of a pattern but also approximate ones. In this paper we present an O(mnk$_{max}$/w) time algorithm for the approximate gapped pattern matching problem, where m is the length of the text, H is the length of the pattern, w is the word size of the target machine, and k$_{max}$ is the greatest error bound for subpatterns.

  • 현재의 IT 산업은 개인 컴퓨터에서 벗어나 이동이 가능한 mobile 분야에서 최근 mobile에 smart를 추가한 ubiquitous로 최근 변화하고 있다. 또한 스마트폰의 보급으로 3D 산업은 monitor display 에서부터 mobile display로 이동하고 있는 추세이다. 하지만 현재까지 3D산업의 mobile display는 device의 공급 부족과 콘텐츠 부족으로 인해 실생활에서 사용되고 있지 못하다. 따라서 안드로이드 폰을 기반으로 한 스마트폰을 이용하여 실시간 입체 영상을 구현하여 원활한 실시간 mobile 3D display 의 가능성과 향후 개선 방향을 제안하고자 한다. 본 논문은 Digital Image Stabilization을 사용하여 motion vector를 계산하여 실시간으로 입체 영상을 구현하는 방법을 제안한다.

  • 자연현상이나 실제 상황을 담고 있는 비디오 시퀀스는 기본적으로 주위의 픽셀들과 높은 상관도를 가지고 있다. 따라서 움직임 벡터 정보도 주위 블록의 정보와 상관도가 높으며, 움직임 예측을 수행할 때의 계산 량을 줄이는데 용이하게 사용되어져 왔다. 본 논문에서도 이를 이용하여 움직임 벡터를 예측하는 방법을 제시한다. 현재 블록의 정확한 움직임 벡터 예측을 위하여, 참조 프레임의 움직임 벡터와 현재 프레임의 움직임 벡터 정보를 참조하여 시작점을 정확하게 재조정하였다. 더 정확해진 시작점 예측으로 인해 움직임 정보의 중앙으로 수렴하는 확률이 더 높아 졌으며, 이를 이용하여 enhanced hexagonal search의 첫 단계를 수정함으로써 search point를 줄였다. 실험결과에서는 제안한 알고리즘의 장점과 단점을 분석하고 각 테스트 시퀀스에 따른 성능을 비교하였다.

An Advanced Successive Elimination Algorithm Using Mean Absolute Difference of Neighboring Search Points (경계점의 절대 오차 평균을 이용한 개선된 연속 제거 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, an advanced successive elimination algorithm was proposed using mean absolute difference of neighboring search points. By using mean absolute difference of neighboring search points, the search point in motion estimation can be eliminated effeciently without matching evaluation that requires very intensive computations. By using adaptive MAD calculation algorithm, the candidate matching block can be eliminated early. So, the number of the proposed algrorithm was verified by experimental results.

  • 본 논문은 비교 마이닝(comparison mining) 의 일환인 비교 요소 자동 추출에 관하여 연구한다. 비교 마이닝은 텍스트 마이닝의 한 분야로서 대용량의 텍스트를 대상으로 비교 관계롤 자동 분석하며, 비교 문장인지 아닌지를 식별하는 단계, 비교 타입을 분류하는 단계, 다양한 비교 요소들을 추출하는 단계, 추출된 요소를 분석 및 요약하는 단계 등을 거치게 된다. 본 연구에서는 특정 타입의 비교 문장이 주어졌을때, 그 문장에서 비교 요소를 자동으로 추출하는 단계의 과제를 수행하며, 우열 비교 타입 및 최상급 타입 문장들을 대상으로 비교 주체, 비교 대상, 비교 술어를 추출한다. 실험 과정으로는, 우선 비교 요소 후보들을 선정하고, 그 후 각 요소별로 확률을 계산하여 가장 높은 수치를 기록한 요소를 정답으로 채택하게 된다. 확률 계산은 지지 벡터 기계 (Support Vector Machine)를 이용한다. 인터넷 상의 다양한 도메인에서 추출된 비교 문장들을 대상으로 비교 요소 추출을 수출한 결과, 정확도 86.81 %의 우수한 성능을 산출 할 수 있었다.

A Fast Block Matching Algorithm Using Hierarchical Search Point Sampling (계층적인 탐색점 추출을 이용한 고속 블록 정합 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we present a fast motion estimation algorithm to reduce the computations of block matching algorithm for motion estimation in video coding. The proposed algorithm is based on Multi-level Successive Elimination Algorithm and Efficient Multi-level Successive Elimination Algorithms. The best estimate of the motion vectors can be obtained by hierarchical search point sampling and thus the proposed algorithm can decrease the number of matching evaluations that require very intensive computations. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm was verified by experimental results.

Posture Symmetry based Motion Capture System for Analysis of Lower -limbs Rehabilitation Training

  • This paper presents a motion capture based rehabilitation training system for a lower-limb paretic patient. The system evaluates the rehabilitation status of the patient by using the bend posture of the knees and the weight balance of the body. The posture of both legs is captured with a single camera using the planar mirror. The weight distribution is obtained by the Wii Balance Board. Self-occlusion problem in the tracking of the legs is resolved by using k-nearest neighbor based clustering with body symmetry and local-linearity of the posture data. To do this, we present data normalization and its symmetric property in the normalized vector space.

A New Fast Motion Estimation Algorithm Based on Block Sum Pyramid Algorithm

  • In this paper, a new fast motion estimation algorithm which is based on the Block Sum Pyramid Algorithm(BSPA) is presented. The Spiral Diamond Mesh Search scheme and Partial Distortion Elimination scheme of Efficient Multi-level Successive Elimination Algorithm were improved and then the improved schemes were applied to the BSPA. The motion estimation accuracy of the proposed algorithm is nearly 100% and the cost of Block Sum Pyramid Algorithm was reduced in the proposed algorithm. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm was verified by experimental results.
