The conventional BMA is performed with the fixed block size. For better performance at low bitrate, the block size is required to be large in relatively stationary area, while small in moving area. Thus, in this paper, a video coding technique using variable block size model is proposed. It decides the block size based on the degree of local motion defined by the local mean and variance of blocks. Computer simulation shows that the proposed method gives comparable performance to the conventional one with less bits required for motion vector coding.

In the conventional floating display system some image distortions might be occurred in the floating image plane, in which a flat screen has been mostly used for providing an adequate input image plane. In this paper, as a new approach to alleviate image distortion problem in a floating display system, a curved screen is suggested by through some computer simulation using an optics design program of Light Tools.

In this paper, the method for dielectric constant and less tangent measurements of microwave substrates using a microstrip line is presented. The two samples of an open-ended line and a short-ended tine are made and complex propagation constant is evaluated from the one-port scattering parameter measurements. This method has been automated fully using a personal computer and a vector network analyzer.

The influence of observations the on the goodness-of-fit test in maximum likelihood factor analysis is investigated by using the local influence method. under an appropriate perturbation the test statistic forms a surface. One of main diagnostics is the maximum slope of the perturbed surface the other is the direction vector cor-responding to the curvature. These influence measures provide the information about jointly influence measures provide the information about jointly influential observations as well as individ-ually influential observations.

A new block matching algorithm that improved the existing block matching algorithm in terms of image quality is proposed in this paper. The subblock of image including the vertical edge of object is subdivided into new two subblocks, and the moving vector found. The result of computer simulation shows on real image that the image quality by the algorithm becomes higher than that of the three step search algorithm by 1.1dB.

A computer program for free vibration analysis of plane framed structures has been developed by object oriented programming technique using C" language. In this paper various drive characteristics of a AC Servo Motor for EV(electric vehicle) and hybrid system proposed a countermeasure against air polution are presented. Since the transfer function of the plant is nonlinear and very complicated, there are difficultly in driving the system with real time. The performance of these experiments is confirmed by computer simulation results. The high performance and high accuracy of the driving system, Field oriented vector control system is proposed.

Land suitability method has become a standard part of planning analysis at many scales. GIS computer packages have been developed for this purpose. But those are still expensive and hard to learn, and also have limits to extend the results to a landscape design. For the relatively simple tasks and CAD-related works, an application of CAD software for the suitability analysis is very useful and easy to handle. For the purpose, this study develops a technique for suitability analysis, using vector based microcomputer CAD softwares.

We propose a novel method to simplify the computational load of ILSP algorithm for CDMA environment. Since this method processes the block matrix by a vector sequentially, the complex matrix computation ran be avoided. The performance of the algorithm is verified by computer simulations.

Ensemble learning is a method for improving the performance of classification and prediction algorithms. However, its performance can be degraded due to multicollinearity problem where multiple classifiers of an ensemble are highly correlated with. This paper proposes genetic algorithm-based optimization techniques of SVM ensemble to solve multicollinearity problem. Empirical results with bankruptcy prediction on Korea firms indicate that the proposed optimization techniques can improve the performance of SVM ensemble.
