  • This paepr is concerned with the design of linear parameter varying filter that ensures H$^{2}$/$H^{\infty}$ performance for a class of linear parameter varying(LPV) plants. The state space matrices of plant are assumed to be dependent affinely on a vector of time varying parameter, and each parameter is assumed to be measured in real time. Using the linear matrix inequalities(LMIs), we can solve the synthesis problem and the solution of LMIs is carried out off-line. The designed filter is parameter varying and automatically scheduled along parameter trajectories. Because the solution of LMIs is carried out off-line, computation time of filter gain is reduced. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verifed through computer simulation..

  • This study attempted to develop a speech recognition module applied to a wheelchair for the physically handicapped. In the proposed speech recognition module, TMS320C32 was used as a main processor and Mel-Cepstrum 12 Order was applied to the pro-processor step to increase the recognition rate in a noisy environment. DTW (Dynamic Time Warping) was used and proven to be excellent output for the speaker-dependent recognition part. In order to utilize this algorithm more effectively, the reference data was compressed to 1/12 using vector quantization so as to decrease memory. In this paper, the necessary diverse technology (End-point detection, DMA processing, etc.) was managed so as to utilize the speech recognition system in real time

  • This paper presents the design and implementation of voltage source inverter type SVPWM based speed control of an induction motor using a fuzzy PI controller. This scheme enables us to adjust the speed of the motor by controlling the frequency and amplitude of the stator voltage; the ratio of the stator voltage to the frequency should be kept constant. A model of the fuzzy control system is implemented in real time with a Xilinx FPGA XC3S 400E. It is introduced to maintain a constant speed to when the load varies.

  • The voltage variation problem at the point of common coupling (PCC) in a grid-connected wind turbine is investigated. The voltage variation problem is one of the most frequent power quality issues for the grid connection of large amounts of input power in a weak grid. Through the simplified modeling of the wind turbine and power network, the magnitude of PCC voltage variation is calculated by using the equivalent circuit parameters and output power of the wind turbine. The required amount of reactive power that can compensate the voltage variation is also presented analytically by using the vector diagram method. The proposed calculation and compensation method of the PCC voltage variation is verified by computer simulations and experiments.

  • In this paper, we analyze algorithms for diagnosing of VEP(visual evoked potential) signal. We used wavelet transform for the preprocessing of VEP signal data and back propagation neural network for the pattern recognition. We used several wavelets to study their effects and efficiency in the preprocessing of VEP. The diagnosis system led to good results. We obtained the noise reduced and compressed signal with the wavelet transform of the training VEP signal. So it is possible to train the neural network faster and exact diagnosis processing is possible in the neural network. From the experimental results, we know that the discrimination ability of the neural network is changed by the type of basis vector and the proposed system is good to the diagnosis of VEP.

  • This paper proposes an Intelligent Speed Estimator in order to realize the speed-sensorless vector control of an induction motor. Intelligent Speed Estimator used Model Reference Adaptive System which has Fuzzy-Neural adaptive mechanism as Speed Estimation method. The Intelligent Speed Estimator estimates the speed of an induction motor with a rotor flux of a reference model and adjustable model in MRAS. The Intelligent Speed Estimator reduces the error of the rotor flux between the voltage flux model and the current flux model using the error and the change of error as input of the Estimator. The computer simulation is executed to verify the propriety and the effectiveness of the proposed speed estimator.

  • We developed a XMAS (X Multimedia Analysis System) for analyzing the illegal and objectionable multimedia in Internet environment based on Web2.0. XMAS uses the MPEG-7 visual descriptor and multi-class SVM (support vector machine) and its performance (accuracy on precision) is about 91.6% for objectionable multimedia analysis and 99.9% for illegal movie retrieval.

  • In this paper, we propose a fault diagnosis method using artificial neural network and SVM (Support Vector Machine) to detect and isolate faults in the nonlinear systems. The proposed algorithm consists of two main parts: fault detection through threshold testing using a artificial neural network and fault isolation by SVM fault classifier. In the proposed method a fault is detected when the errors between the actual system output and the artificial neural network nominal system output cross a predetermined threshold. Once a fault in the nonlinear system is detected the SVM fault classifier isolates the fault. The computer simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed SVM and artificial neural network based fault diagnosis method.

  • In this paper, face recognition algorithm, by using skin color information of HSI color coordinate collected from face images, elliptical mask, fratures of face including eyes, nose and mouth, and geometrical feature vectors of face and facial angles, is proposed. The proposed algorithm improved face region extraction efficacy by using HSI information relatively similar to human's visual system along with color tone information about skin colors of face, elliptical mask and intensity information. Moreover, it improved face recognition efficacy with using feature information of eyes, nose and mouth, and Θ1(ACRED), Θ2(AMRED) and Θ 3(ANRED), which are geometrical face angles of face. In the proposed algorithm, it enables exact face reading by using color tone information, elliptical mask, brightness information and structural characteristic angle together, not like using only brightness information in existing algorithm. Moreover, it uses structural related value of characteristics and certain vectors together for the recognition method.

  • Feature detection and description are key ingredients of common image processing and computer vision applications. Most existing algorithms focus on robust feature matching under challenging conditions, such as inplane rotations and scale changes. Consequently, they usually fail when the scene is blurred by camera shake or an object's motion. To solve this problem, we propose a new feature description algorithm that is robust to image blur and significantly improves the feature matching performance. The proposed algorithm builds a feature descriptor by considering the integral projection along four angular directions ($0^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, and $135^{\circ}$) and by combining four projection vectors into a single highdimensional vector. Intensive experiment shows that the proposed descriptor outperforms existing descriptors for different types of blur caused by linear motion, nonlinear motion, and defocus. Furthermore, the proposed descriptor is robust to intensity changes and image rotation.
