  • This work produces a new model of nonlocal thermoelastic nanobeams of temperature-dependent physical properties. A nanobeam is excited by harmonically varying heat and subjected to an exponential decaying time varying load. The analytical solution is obtained by means of Laplace transform method in time domain. Inversions of transformed solutions have been preceded by using calculus of residues. Effects of nonlocal parameter, variability thermal conductivity, varying load and angular frequency of thermal vibration on studied fields of nanobeam are investigated and discussed.

  • This paper proposes suitable gait generation for dynamic walking of biped robot with varying load in real time. Author proposes the relationship between ZMP(Zero Moment Point) and measurement from FSR(Force Sensing Register). Simplifying this relationship, it is possible to reduce the computational time and control the biped robot in real time. If the weight of the biped robot varies in order to move some object, then joint trajectories of the the biped robot must be changed. When some object is loaded on the biped robot in it's home position, FSRs can measure the variation of weight. Evaluating the relations between varying load and stable gait of the biped robot, it can walk adaptively. This relation enables the biped robot to walk properly with varying load. The simulation is also represented in this paper which shows proposed relationships.

  • Elastic buckling load of perforated steel plates is typically predicted using the finite element or conjugate load/displacement methods. In this paper an artificial neural network (ANN)-based formula is presented for the prediction of the elastic buckling load of rectangular plates having a circular cutout. By using this formula, the elastic buckling load of perforated plates can be calculated easily without setting up an ANN platform. In this study, the center of a circular cutout was chosen at different locations along the longitudinal x-axis of plates subjected to linearly varying loading. The results of the finite element method (FEM) produced by the commercial software package ANSYS are used to train and test the network. The accuracy of the proposed formula based on the trained ANN model is evaluated by comparing with the results of different researchers. The results show that the presented ANN-based formula is practical in predicting the elastic buckling load of perforated plates without the need of an ANN platform.

  • For position control of electro-hydraulic servo system, single rod cylinders and double rod cylinders are used. Single rod cylinders have simple structure for manufacturing but different volume ratio of two sides induce to non-linearity in process of then mathematical modeling. So only with conventional PID control method it is difficult to control single rod cylinders precisely. For mole precise position control of single rod cylinders, a controller which is inserted a velocity feedback PID controller and MRAC controller are proposed. With experiment control performances of three control methods are compared. In case of experiment, for external varying load to the system, a hydraulic cylinder and a pressure control valve are used. In conclusion a MRAC is considered a suitable control method for external varying load.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the inelastic behavior of hollow reinforced concrete bridge columns under varying axial load. The role of the variable axial load is very important in the ductility, strength, stiffness, and energy dissipation. A computer program, named RCAHEST (Reinforced Concrete Analysis in Higher Evaluation System Technology), for the analysis of reinforced concrete structures was used. Material nonlinearity is taken into account by comprising tensile, compressive and shear models of cracked concrete and a model of reinforcing steel. The proposed numerical method for the inelastic behavior of hollow reinforced concrete bridge columns under varying axial load is verified by comparison with reliable experimental results.

  • Measurement techniques for the in-duct source characteristics of fluid machines can be classified into direct method and load method, according to whether the technique employs an external acoustic source or not. It has been known that the two methods yield different results and the load method used to come up with a negative source resistance, in spite of the fact that a very accurate prediction of radiated noise can be obtained by using any result. This paper is focused to the effect of time-varying nature of fluid machines on the output result. For this purpose, a simplified fluid machine consisting of a reservoir, a valve and a pipe is considered as representing a typical linear, periodic, time-varying system and the measurement techniques are simulated by utilizing the Hill equation and its steady-state forced response. In the load method, the source impedance turns out being dependent on the valve impedance at the calculation frequency and the valve and load impedances at other frequencies as well.

  • A fuel cell power conditioning system for online diagnosis and load leveling under the condition of varying load is developed in this study. The proposed system comprises a unidirectional boost converter and a bidirectional buck-boost converter with a battery. The system operates in two different modes. In normal mode, the bidirectional converter is utilized for load leveling; in diagnostic mode, it is utilized to control load voltage while the boost converter generates perturbation current to implement the online diagnosis function through in-situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The proposed method can perform EIS for a fuel cell under varying-load conditions with no influence on the load. The validity and feasibility of the proposed system are verified by experiments, and the design procedure of the proposed system is detailed.

  • Previous studies have suggested the maximum experimental story shear force of beam-column joint frame does not reach its theoretical value due to beam-column joint failure when the column-to-beam moment capacity ratio was close to 1.0. It was also pointed out that under a certain amount of axial force, an axial collapse and a sudden decrease of lateral load-carrying capacity may occur at the joint. Although increasing joint transverse reinforcement could improve the lateral load-carrying capacity and axial load-carrying capacity of beam-column joint frame, the conditions considering varying axial force were still not well investigated. For this purpose, 7 full-scale specimens with no-axial force and 14 half-scale specimens with varying axial force are designed and subjected to static loading tests. Comparing the experimental results of the two types of specimens, it has indicated that introducing the varying axial force leads to a reduction of the required joint transverse reinforcement ratio which can avoid the beam-column joint failure. For specimens with varying axial force, to prevent beam-column joint failure and axial collapse, the lower limit of joint transverse reinforcement ratio is acquired when given a column-to-beam moment capacity ratio.
