The Meaning and Use of Modified Songs by Teachers in Early Childhood Classrooms (유치원 교실에서 교사가 부르는 변형된 노래의 양상과 의미 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore the role of the variation of songs by teachers in early childhood classrooms where songs play an important role in managing the daily activities for young children. Early childhood teachers have demonstrated a high degree of competency to transform and modify a variety of songs that fit into children's developmental levels. The use of such songs enable both teachers and young learners to fully enjoy such classroom activities and are an important means for establishing rapport. The data were collected from direct observation and video recording in three early childhood classrooms, as well as through interviews with the teachers, and through the researcher's journals. The results of the study revealed that the teachers exhibit a high degree of professionalism in creating variations of the kind of songs that children seem to enjoy, and thereby creating high levels of classroom enjoyment generally. This study also showed that using a good variety of songs in early childhood classroom can facilitate understanding of the content in the curriculum Finally, this study also suggests that the teachers' skills in designing variations of songs can make early childhood education classrooms culturally attractive and aesthetically more creative.

Song Variations of Great Tits inhabiting Kwangnung and Chejudo (광릉과 제주도에 서식하는 박새 Song의 변이)

  • Sonograms of songs recorded in Kwangnung and Chejudo were analyzed to investigate the features and variances in the songs of Great tit, Parus major variety. Songs of Great tits were identified, most of which were repetitions of phrases compoed of high-frequency note and low-frequency note. Variances between the songs of the two areas in the minimum and maximum of low-frequency were significat. The CV range of the Great tit group in Chejudo was wider than that in Kwangnung. Interregional variance level was significant in the minimum (P<0.04) and maximum (P<0.0001) of low-frequency.

  • Songs recorded in Chirisam(1990~1993) and $Ull\v{u}ngdo$(1992~1993) areas were analyzed to investigate the features and variances in songs of Great tit, Parus major. Songs of Great tits were identified, most of which were repetitions of phrases composed of high-frequency note and low-frequency note. The CV range of the Chirisan Great tit group was wider than that of the $Ull\v{u}ngdo$ area. ANOVA analysis level was highly significant (p<0.0001) for Chirisan area and $Ull\v{u}ngdo$ area. Inter-regional variance level was significant (p<0.05) in the maximum of low-frequency.

Intraindividual and Interindividual Variations of Stereotyped Songs in Gray-headed Bunting (Emberiza fucata) (붉은뺨멧새 Stereotyped song 내 Syllable의 개체내, 개체간 변이 비교)

  • From a population in Kang-Nae, Cheong-won, Chung-Buk, acoustic behaviours of Gray-headed Bunting (Emberizo fucata) were obsenred. The singing of males was classified into two major types, stereotyped song and squeaky song. The stereotyped songs of eight territorial males were recorded Intraindividual and individually distinctive features were studied. Individuals produced their song in distinctive ways in terms of song duration and the number of syllables. Gray-headed Buntings sang various syllable types. We found that a male produced more constant syllables in anterior group than those in posterior group. Males sang distinctive syllables among them. Some syllable types which were frequently appeared in an anterior group. In these analyses, we suggest that the anterior groups in songs of a Gray-headed Bunting express the constant information and the posterior groups contribute to situational communication.

Analysis on Modal Changes and Its Performance Effect in Kim, So-hui's 「Chunhyangga」 (김소희 『춘향가』의 전조에 따른 연행효과 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the technique of modal changes and its performance effect in Manjeong Kim, So-hui's pansori "Chunghyangga" at the portion of jungmori. It is because Manjeong-style "Chunghyangga" effectively presents dramatic scenes, role changes and emotional variations through modal changes of pansori. In this study, such two songs as and in jungmori were examined and study findings are as follows: Modal changes always reflected dramatic scenes, role changes, situational alterations and emotional variations. In addition, all the transpositions of the two songs were related to geunchin-jo and euddeumeum-jo. In , the technique of modal changes was intensively used in the latter half of the song, whereas in , it was used from the middle portion of the song. All of these uses of modal changes resulted in an excellent performance effect, which was musically expressed in order to discriminate it from the portion of role changes or explanations.

Does the Bush Warbler (Cettia diphone) Defend Its Territory through a Particular Song Mode or a Mode Sequence? (텃새권 방어와 관련된 휘파람새의 Song Mode와 Mode Sequence의 이용)

  • The song of the bush warbler, Cettia diphone, consists of an introdudory whisde portion and a complex ending syllable portion. In bush warbiers, a song with two or fewer notes in the whistle portion is classified as an a song mode, while a song with three or more notes in the whistle portion as a $\beta$ song mode. Although some variations occur in mode seledion by individuals and populations, the proportion of a mode songs to total songs is 55% (range 51.6-58.7%) on average. The a mode has a higher dominant frequency in the whistle portion than does the $\beta$ mode, but the number of syllables m the complex ending syllable portion is fewer. Bush warbler mode sequences are defined as $\alpha$$\alpha$, $\alpha$$\beta$, $\beta$$\alpha$ and $\beta$$\beta$ mode sequences. In order to test the hypothesis that song modes and mode sequences play a role in the defence of territory in Jeju and Wando populations in the south-coastal geographic song variation group, playback experiments were executed. Mode sequences differed between naturally produced songs and songs produced in response to playback for two populations. In particular, for birds in the Wando populations our results indicate that the use of song modes may be affeded by habitat, singing site and type of territory, and further propose that particular mode sequences may play a more important role than song mode in vocal interadions.

The Effect of Integrated Recreation Program on Mood State, Flexibility and Stress of Elderly Women (통합 레크리에이션 프로그램이 여성 노인의 기분상태, 유연성 및 스트레스에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of an integrated recreation program on mood states, flexibility, and stress of elderly women. The integrated recreation program was applied to dance as a physical activity and songs and art as emotional activities in consideration of the characteristics of the elderly activities. The subjects were 50 elderly women aged 65 years or older who reside in K-do. The examination period was December 2 in 2014 to February 17 in 2015, during which time mood states, flexibilities, density of the salivary cortisol, variations in heartbeats, and stress were measured. The integrated recreation program had positive effects on mood, flexibility and stress reduction in elderly women. Based on these results, the integrated recreation program is considered to increase mood states and flexibility of elderly women while lowering stress. Therefore, the integrated recreation program developed in this study not only helps the physical and mental health of elderly women, but can also be widely utilized as a health promotion program for the elderly.

A study on effective diction training in choral communication (합창 커뮤니케이션에서 효과적인 딕션 훈련을 위한 연구)

  • The puropose of this study is to propose an effective diction training techniqe that conductors can use in choral communication. In chorus, the phonology of the language used in the lyrics influences the diction. Therefore, Korean lyrics must be pronounced according to Korean phonology. In verbal language, accuracy of pronunciation is important, but when expressing lyrics in a song, both vocalization and diction are important. In particular, chorus is sung by many people, so if the diction is not accurate, the lyrics will not be delivered properly. In this study, the dictions of lyrics frequently used in actual Korean choral songs were systematically analyzed according to Korean phonological rules. As a result of the study, the main factor that makes choral diction difficult is the phenomenon of phonological fluctuations in Korean. In particular, phonological fluctuations often occurred when pronouncing the final sound and when consonants and consonants were combined. A follow-up study intends to contribute to the development of choral communication by presenting a systematic choral diction based on Korean phonology.

  • This study finds aesthetic elements and examines their aesthetic sense focusing on the melody of the piri in the completed Jongmyojeryeak with various ideational backgrounds from the views different from the aesthetic sense of Jongmyojeryeak that has been conducted so far. Jongmyojeryeak is to hold a memorial service at the place where the godship of the line of kings and queens in Joseon is set. It is the crystal of Confucian memorial ritual and representative cultural heritage of ancestral ritual culture and is designated as No 1 of national chief, intangible cultural heritage in 1964. Also, on May 18th, 2001, it was registered first in Korea as 'Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity' designated by UNESCO and was recognized of its superiority. It is not only a representative cultural heritage of ancestral ritual culture having fate with Joseon Dynasty for a long period but also has been recognized as the essence of our music compiling the holistic beauty of artistic forms according to music, songs, and dance created by our ancestors. Also, it has as its background the traditional thoughts including the Confucian thought as well as Yeak thought, Yin-Yang School, Samjae thought (三才思想), and Palgoe thought (八卦思想). This Jongmyojeryeak internalizes landscape beauty, Yojang beauty, natural beauty, magnificent beauty, and harmonious beauty. Landscape beauty can be found in Huimun and Jeonpyehuimun. Yojang beauty is the figure that is only shown in Jeongdaeup. Natural beauty is the skilled performance technique shown in the melody of variations and is connected to natural creation. It is well shown in Huimun and Jeonpyehuimun. Magnificent beauty is well shown in the melody of Botaepyeong movement. And harmonious beauty is the harmonization of dischord in Jongmyojeryeak and is well shown in Jeongdaeup's Somu distinctively showing its aesthetic sense from the view of natural, harmonious beauty in its music.
