  • The purpose of this study is to design t-shirts by using doggaebi patterns as traditional cultural products. Byuksa has the meaning of keeping away wicked spirits and to receiving good fortune. Most of the pictures of magpies, tigers, dragons, hawks, and roosters contain the meaning of protection and the doggaebi pattern is a typical Byuksa pattern. By way of example of product development, this study will develop designs by using doggaebi patterns and promote beautiful Korean traditional patterns as well as Korean traditional culture. The reason for choosing the T-shirt is because T-shirts are a basic item that all people have and wear, so Koreans and foreigners get interested in them and buy them. This study presents designs for 5 kinds of t-shirts for adults and another five kinds for kids using doggaebi patterns. This study was limited to the doggaebi pattern, so it is expected more studies about patterns and many cultural products will develop.

  • Objectives: This paper aims to investigate the Donguibogam-based pattern diagnosis by applying natural language processing and machine learning. Methods: A database has been constructed by gathering symptoms and pattern diagnosis from Donguibogam. The symptom sentences were tokenized with nouns, verbs, and adjectives with natural language processing tool. To apply symptom sentences into machine learning, Word2Vec model has been established for converting words into numeric vectors. Using the pair of symptom's vector and pattern diagnosis, a pattern prediction model has been trained through Logistic Regression. Results: The Word2Vec model's maximum performance was obtained by optimizing Word2Vec's primary parameters -the number of iterations, the vector's dimensions, and window size. The obtained pattern diagnosis regression model showed 75% (chance level 16.7%) accuracy for the prediction of Six-Qi pattern diagnosis. Conclusions: In this study, we developed pattern diagnosis prediction model based on the symptom and pattern diagnosis from Donguibogam. The prediction accuracy could be increased by the collection of data through future expansions of oriental medicine classics.

  • Vehicle performances such as fuel consumption and catalyst-out emissions are affected by a driving pattern, which is defined as a driving cycle with the grade in this study. We developed an algorithm to recognize a current driving pattern by using a neural network. And this algorithm can be used in adapting the driving control strategy to the recognized driving pattern. First, we classified the general driving patterns into 6 representative driving patterns, which are composed of 3 urban driving patterns, 2 suburban driving patterns and 1 expressway driving pattern. A total of 24 parameters such as average cycle velocity, positive acceleration kinetic energy, relative duration spent at stop, average acceleration and average grade are chosen to characterize the driving patterns. Second, we used a neural network (especially the Hamming network) to decide which representative driving pattern is closest to the current driving pattern by comparing the inner products between them. And before calculating inner product, each element of the current and representative driving patterns is transformed into 1 and -1 array as to 4 levels. In the end, we simulated the driving pattern recognition algorithm in a temporary pattern composed of 6 representative driving patterns and, verified the reliable recognition performance.

  • Process fault diagnosis is a complicated matter because quality control problems can result from a variety of causes. These causes include problems with electrical components, mechanical components, human errors, job justification errors, and air conditioning influences. In order to make the system run smoothly with minimum delay, it is necessary to suggest heuristic remedies for the detected faults. Hence, this paper describes a heuristic methodology of fault diagnosis that is performed using statistical patterns generated by quality characteristics The proposed methodology is described briefly as follows: If a sample pattern generated by random variables is similar to the number of prototype patterns, the sample pattern may be matched by any prototype pattern among them to be resembled. This concept is based on the similarity between a sample pattern and the matched prototype pattern. The similarity is calculated as the weighted average of squared deviation, which is expressed as the difference between the relative values of standard normal distribution to be transformed by the observed values of quality characteristics in a sample pattern and the critical values of the corresponding ones in a matched prototype pattern.

  • Nongroup Cellular Automata(CA) having two trees in the state transition diagram of a CA is suitable for pattern classifier which divides pattern set into two classes. Maji et al. [1] classified patterns by using multiple attractor cellular automata as a pattern classifier with dependency vector. In this paper we propose a method of generation of a pattern classifier using feature vector which is the extension of dependency vector. In addition, we propose methods for finding nonreachable states in the 0-tree of the state transition diagram of TPMACA corresponding to the given feature vector for the analysis of the state transition behavior of the generated pattern classifier.

  • This study was conducted in order to analyze draping and flat pattern according to jacket design, and provide basic materials for developing a jacket pattern that can enhance fitness, functionality, and aesthetic expression of clothes by reflecting esthetic expression of draping and efficiency of flat pattern at the same time. For the experimental jacket designs of a one-piece sleeve jacket and a two-piece sleeve jacket were selected among the entries of the designer Rubina for 2014 F/W Seoul Fashion Week. Designer brand Rubina usually produced clothes using draping and the designer brand company provided the experimental patterns for the study. We also had flat patterns of the same design and size specifications designed by a flat patternmaker who has 30 year-experience in flat pattern like Rubina. The test apparel jacket was made of 20's cotton yarns. Three models wore the jackets and evaluation on appearance fitness was conducted by 7 members in an expert panel group from August 10, 2015 to September 10, 2015. As a result of appearance fitness analysis on one-piece sleeve jacket, there were significant difference in 4 items among 17 items in terms of overall appearance. The appearance of jackets by draping had higher score than those using flat pattern. As for two-piece sleeve jacket, there were significant differences in 7 items among 17 items related to overall appearance. As for the items related to sleeve, 5 items out of 13 showed significant differences. Except for one item, appearance of jackets using draping had higher score than flat pattern. As for motion fitness, draping was evaluated to be more comfortable. Applying the items with high scores in appearance and motion fitness in draping to flat pattern, The study suggests a new jacket pattern development that would increase the satisfaction of consumers for future research.

  • The construction of athlete's tight-fitting garments by reducing the elastic knit pattern is an interesting subject, which directly influences the performance of the wearer. Therefore, relationships between the reduction rates of the men's pants pattern obtained using measurements of Size Korea 2004 and clothing fitting were explored to improve clothing comfort. Two pattern making methods were developed and the reduction rates were applied to those pants depending on the parts of human body. The four male subjects were university students in the ages of 20 to 24. Subjective wear sensations of the experimental garments were rated using seven Likert scales during 4 consecutive days. While wearing the garments, subjects were kept four various postures including waist flexion and sitting etc by requests of the researchers. Likert type scale was used for the evaluation and 7 point indicates that it gave the best fit as tight-fitting pants. As results, differences in the length and girth between two piece pants pattern(style 1) and one piece pants pattern(style 2) were 0.0$\sim$0.3cm. Between two pattern making methods, one piece pants pattern(the style 2) was superior to two piece pants pattern in terms of subjective sensation and fit. Among eight tight-fitting pants, C, D, G, H pants were superior in terms of fitting and stability of waist and hip part to the others. ill case of tight-fitting pants, the reduction rate of the pattern in the course direction, the reduction rate of T2/3(66%) was better than that of T/2(50%), but the reduction rate of the pattern in the wale direction, that of the part of crotch, which was very sensitive part, should be kept the same as suggested earlier by Ziegert(1988).

  • Objective: To assess left ventricular remodeling patterns using cardiac computed tomography (CT) in children with congenital heart disease and correlate these patterns with their clinical course. Materials and Methods: Left ventricular volume and myocardial mass were quantified in 17 children with congenital heart disease who underwent initial and follow-up end-systolic cardiac CT studies with a mean follow-up duration of 8.4 ± 9.7 months. Based on changes in the indexed left ventricular myocardial mass (LVMi) and left ventricular mass-volume ratio (LVMVR), left ventricular remodeling between the two serial cardiac CT examinations was categorized into one of four patterns: pattern 1, increased LVMi and increased LVMVR; pattern 2, decreased LVMi and decreased LVMVR; pattern 3, increased LVMi and decreased LVMVR; and pattern 4, decreased LVMi and increased LVMVR. Left ventricular remodeling patterns were correlated with unfavorable clinical courses. Results: Baseline LVMi and LVMVR were 65.1 ± 37.9 g/m2 and 4.0 ± 3.2 g/mL, respectively. LVMi increased in 10 patients and decreased in seven patients. LVMVR increased in seven patients and decreased in 10 patients. Pattern 1 was observed in seven patients, pattern 2 in seven, and pattern 3 in three patients. Unfavorable events were observed in 29% (2/7) of patients with pattern 1 and 67% (2/3) of patients with pattern 3, but no such events occurred in pattern 2 during the follow-up period (4.4 ± 2.7 years). Conclusion: Left ventricular remodeling patterns can be characterized using cardiac CT in children with congenital heart disease and may be used to predict their clinical course.

  • This paper describes the pattern synthesis of array antenna which conforms to a metallic curved surface formed by the rotation of a quadratic function by using EAGA(Enhanced Adaptive Genetic Algorithm). Three rotated-type conformal surfaces are realized by changing the coefficient of the quadratic function and the pattern of each conformal array antenna is synthesized. In order to reduce the overall time of pattern synthesis, the transformed active element pattern obtained by the active element pattern of the 2-dimensional planar array using Euler angles rotation is utilized instead of the active element pattern of the 3-dimensional conformal array antenna itself. To verify validity of the proposed synthesis procedure, the synthesized patterns using EAGA are compared with those obtained by MWS.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish a new method to develop the textile pattern design using Saengbul flower in Seo-cheon flower garden of Jeju Myth, in other words, to create mythic textile patterns by borrowing effectively from the mythic image of Saengbul flower. Seo-cheon flower garden is an incantation space and Saengbul flower means pregnance. Therefore, we drew Camellia flower motifs from a mythic image based on archetypal symbols about the Saengbul flower, and created mythic patterns. In order to achieve this textile pattern design, Adobe CS5(Photoshop, Illustrator) and Texpro were used to design the motifs of Saengbul flower, and then they were arranged in a square pattern and diamond pattern of Richard M. Proctor' set layout. And to conclude, development of the creative textile pattern design using the mythic contents of the Jeju Myth contribute to invigoration the fashion industry and regional culture contents projects in Jeju, and also become the basis of creating added valued to it.
