  • We propose the mirror active element pattern (AEP) method for the radiation pattern computation of linear array antennas versus scan angles. The computation time for the radiation pattern of linear array antennas using the mirror AEP method is reduced by almost half compared to that using the AEP method because the number of AEPs of elements obtained by the full-wave simulation necessary for the radiation pattern computation of linear array antennas is reduced by almost half. The difference between the radiation patterns of linear array antennas obtained by the full-wave simulation and mirror AEP method is very small for wide scan angle range when the radiation pattern of an antenna element is symmetric.

  • This study aims to propose various ways to utilize CLO, which focuses mainly on the production of 3D virtual samples, by comparing it with the pattern drafting functions of Four apparel CAD experts, who have teaching experience in YUKA and CLO, participated in a focus group interview, and a basic bodice prototype drafting was carried out by each participant to evaluate the pattern drafting functions of YUKA and CLO. The result of this study showed that the pattern drafting tools of YUKA are subdivided since YUKA is a CAD tool inherently specialized in pattern making. Though CLO provided a relatively limited pattern drafting menu compared to YUKA, it was found that pattern drafting could be accomplished with the help of supplementary tools and functions. This finding suggests that each CAD offers the corresponding tools for the same use of menus or functions in the prototype drafting process. The major difference between YUKA and CLO is that YUKA defines the pattern area by a set of line segments, whereas CLO utilizes an outline composed of closed curves. YUKA provides various specific tools according to the options such as angles, straight lines, and curves, while CLO produces the same results using combinations of a limited number of tools. Compared with YUKA, the advantage of CLO is its user-friendly task environment such as the Windows-based user interface, from the usability perspective. This study concludes that pattern drafting education using CLO would help not only industrial 3D design practitioners but also pattern education in academia

  • The various researches are investigated for transforming byte code into objective machine code which can be implemented in the specific processor using classical compiling methods to improve the execution speed of the JAVA language. The code generation techniques using pattern matching can generate more high-quality code than code expansion techniques. We provide, in this research, the standardized pattern describing methods and pattern matching techniques that can be used to generate the register-based inter-language which is for the effective native code generation from byte code. And we designed and realized the inter-code transformer with which we can generate the high-quality register-based inter-code using standardized pattern described formerly.

  • The purpose of this study was to collect and analyze personal bio data and social network services (SNS) data, derive user preference and user life pattern, and propose intuitive and precise user modeling. This study not only tried to conduct eye tracking experiments using various smart devices to be the ground of the recommendation system considering the attribute of smart devices, but also derived classification preference by analyzing eye tracking data of collected bio data and SNS data. In addition, this study intended to combine and analyze preference of the common classification of the two types of data, derive final preference by each smart device, and based on user life pattern extracted from final preference and collected bio data (amount of activity, sleep), draw the similarity between users using Pearson correlation coefficient. Through derivation of preference considering the attribute of smart devices, it could be found that users would be influenced by smart devices. With user modeling using user behavior pattern, eye tracking, and user preference, this study tried to contribute to the research on the recommendation system that should precisely reflect user tendency.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the possibility of fuel rod pattern analysis in a fresh fuel assembly using the Yonsei single-photon emission computed tomography (YSECT) system. The YSECT system consisted of three main parts: four trapezoidal-shaped bismuth germanate scintillator-based 64-channel detectors, a semiconductor-based multi-channel data acquisition system, and a rotary stage. In order to assess the performance of the prototype YSECT, tomographic images were obtained for three representative fuel rod patterns in the 6 × 6 array using two representative image-reconstruction algorithms. The fuel-rod patterns were then assessed using an in-house fuel rod pattern analysis algorithm. In the experimental results, the single-directional projection images for those three fuel-rod patterns well discriminated each fuel-rod location, showing a Gaussian-peak-shaped projection for a single 10 mm-diameter fuel rod with 12.1 mm full-width at half maximum. Finally, we successfully verified the possibility of the fuel rod pattern analysis for all three patterns of fresh fuel rods with the tomographic images obtained by the rotational YSECT system.

  • Various paper ornaments appear in Gut, the rite of shaman in Jeju, and these are frequently called Gime, Gimekijeon or Gimejeonji. Gime are slips of white or colored paper, made to resemble the shape of god and used in the ritual shaman dances of Jeju. These Gime are hung around an altar, fastened to the end of a green bamboo pole, or held in the shaman's hands when they dance. The purpose of the study is to develop textile design based on the formative features of Gime, as a way of using Myth of shaman in Jeju. This study is used Gime made by 'Kim Yoon-Su' Simbang (shaman) who plays a role of Intangible Cultural Assets of The 71th 'Jeju Chilmeoridang Yeongdeunggut'. As a result, it was to develop the Komusaljang pattern, Seongjukkot pattern, Jijeon pattern, Jowoangki pattern and Cheoljjukdae pattern design of Jeju image using Gime that is one of the unique, indigenous pattern of Jeju.

  • Face recognition has recently become one of the most popular research areas in the fields of computer vision, machine learning, and pattern recognition because it spans numerous applications, such as access control, surveillance, security, credit-card verification, and criminal identification. In this paper, we propose a simple descriptor called an ECSP(Extended Center-Symmetric Pattern) for illumination-robust face recognition. The ECSP operator encodes the texture information of a local face region by emphasizing diagonal components of a previous CS-LBP(Center-Symmetric Local Binary Pattern). Here, the diagonal components are emphasized because facial textures along the diagonal direction contain much more information than those of other directions. The facial texture information of the ECSP operator is then used as the input image of an image covariance-based feature extraction algorithm such as 2D-PCA(Two-Dimensional Principal Component Analysis). Performance evaluation of the proposed approach was carried out using various binary pattern operators and recognition algorithms on the Yale B database. The experimental results demonstrated that the proposed approach achieved better recognition accuracy than other approaches, and we confirmed that the proposed approach is effective against illumination variation.

  • In this thesis, to accurately measure 3D face information using the spatial encoding patterns, the new algorithm to segment the pattern images from initial face pattern image is proposed. If the obtained images is non-homogeneous texture and ambiguous boundary pattern, the pattern segmentation is very difficult. Furthermore. the non-encoded areas by accumulated error are occurred. In this thesis, the FCM(fuzzy c-means) clustering method is proposed to enhance the robust encoding and segmentation rate under non-homogeneous texture and ambiguous boundary pattern. The initial parameters for experiment such as clustering class number, maximum repetition number, and error tolerance are set with 2, 100, 0.0001 respectively. The proposed pattern segmentation method increased 8-20% segmentation rate with conventional binary segmentation methods.
