UI Design of the MMORPG using Storytelling (스토리텔링을 적용한 MMORPG UI 디자인)

  • The computer game has a narrative structure, which scenario is proceeded by player's consecutive interactive. The interaction is the core of game plays that is not only storytelling in itself, but also is implemented by interface. The UI of computer game is as a tool for communication between player and game, which has been designed by usability on use. However, is it the necessary for us to get synchronization of feelings about game scenario in terms of a psychological in order to deepen the pleasure that is the game's ultimate goal. Effectively, as a way to lead in this empathy. This study tries to application of storytelling to the UI that occurred player's interactive for the first time. Moreover, presented the result as the UI designs of casual MMORPG.

  • In this study, a structural characteristics analysis system for motor-integrated high-speed spindle systems, “SpindleX”, is developed based on the Timoshenko theory and the multi-layered finite element method. Since “SpindleX” has the various analysis modules related to static deflection analysis, modal analysis, frequency response analysis, unbalance response analysis and so on, it is useful in performing systematically and quantitatively the design and evaluation processes of spindle system under the windows GUI environment. Also, to enhance the user-friendliness, “SpindleX” possesses the various additional functions such as the DXF file interface for auto-importing the shape and geometric data of spindle system from the DXF file, the bearing database for auto-importing the mechanical properties and geometric data of bearing by the bearing number, and the graphical visualization for certificating the imported and analysed data of spindle system.

  • 본 논문은 GUI(Graphical User interface) 환경에서 MPGE-1 영상 편집을 위한 시스템 도구(Tool)를 기술한다. 기존에 출시된 제품은 일반적으로 AVI 나 MOV 포맷(format)을 사용하는데 비하여 본 논문에서는 MPGE-1을 압축 영역 상태에서 편집함으로써 영상의 품질과 저장의 효율성 및 처리속도에 많은 이점을 두었다. 편집 작업은 Random Access 의 기본 단위가 되는 GOP(Group of Picture) 단위의 경계 편집을 사용하여 영상 편집 기능인 Copy, Paste, Cut, Undo등을 기술하였다. 또한 효율적인 편집 환경을 위해 편집 윈도우 형태를 클립 청, 클립 정보 창, 편집 창, 재생 창, 미리 보기 창으로 구분하였다. 편집된 영상은 효율적 재생을 위하여 DirectDraw을 사용하였다. 본 논문에서 소개한 편집 시스템은 GUI 기반으로 사용자에게 익숙한 사용자 인터페이스 환경을 기술하였다.

  • The educational effect and practical use of collaborative learning produced in virtual learning communities are being discussed actively in these days. A higher-level interactive tool is essential for successful Internet-based collaborative learning through the network. In this paper, we designed and implemented an integrated browser which has the integrated learning environment to support collaborative learning, and thus the user interface of the network client(News, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, voice text chatting Clients) is improved. Therefore, the educational effect of Internet-based collaborative learning is get closer to that of face-to-face learning.

  • The microprogram is the key technology of the implementation of the processor's control unit. But the coding and testing it is the most tedious process in the developing a new computer system. We developed the conversational micro architecture simulator(C-MAS) in order to use it as a microprogram development tool and a run time analyzer of the microprogram. We discuss the hardware description language(HDL) for a smulation, the design constraints of the C-MAS, and the user interface of it in this paper. We used the C language as the description language, and developed it on the berkeley UNIX4.2.

  • E-Learning 환경에서 학습자에게 보다 정확한 맞춤형 교육 시스템을 제공하기 위하여 평가 문항 및 학습 문항의 난이도, 변별도 등과 같은 문항 정보 활용이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 문항 난이도, 변별도의 수치를 메타데이터에 저장하고, 평가 문항 및 학습 문항을 저작할 수 있는 템플릿(Templates) 및 GUI(Graphical User Interface) 기반의 SMIL(Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) 저작도구를 설계 구현 하였다. 구현한 시스템은 SMIL 문법을 모르는 교수자가 문항 난이도, 변별도를 메타데이터에 저장하고, 학습 문항을 쉽게 저작하는데 효율적이다. 또한 저작된 문항은 XML(Extensible Markup Language) 기반 메타데이터를 활용함으로서 다른 플랫폼과의 통합 관리 및 재사용에 용이하다.

Development of Reliability-Based Design Program based on the MATLAB GUI Environment (MATLAB GUI 환경기반 신뢰성 설계기법의 개발)

  • Development of the reliability-based design program in the GUI environment is inadequate for engineers familiar with the deterministic design to deal with the international design criterion based on the probabilistic design. In this study, the design program based on the GUI environment is developed in order to more efficiently input the design factor and more easily carry out the design works. The GUI environment is the GUIDE (Graphic User Interface Development Environment) tool supported by the latest MATALB version 7.1. In order to test the model reliability, the probabilities of failure (POF) on the breakwater armor block (AB) and gravity quay-wall (QW) in the sliding mode are computed using the model in the Level II and Level III. The POF are 55.4~55.7% for breakwater AB and 0.0006~0.0007% for gravity QW. A non-GUI environment program results of the POF are 55.6% for breakwater AB and 0.0018% for gravity QW. In comparison, the POF difference is negligible for breakwater AB because the exact input design parameters are available, whereas the large POF difference, but within the same order, for gravity QW can be explained by the difference of the input design factors because of the poor input data information.

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented a precise pulse motor control chip that generates the parabolic speed pattern. This chip can control step motor[1], DC servo[2] and AC servo motors at high speed and precisely. It can reduce the mechanical vibration to the minimum at the change point of a degree of acceleration. Because the parabolic speed pattern has the continuous acceleration change. In this paper, we present the pulse generation algorithm and the parabolic pattern speed generation. We verify these algorithm using visual C++. We designed this chip with VHDL(Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language) and executed a logic simulation and synthesis using Synopsys synthesis tool. We executed the pre-layout simulation and post-layout simulation with Verilog-XL simulation tool. This chip was produced with 100 pins, PQFP package by 0.35 um CMOS process and implemented by completely digital logic. We developed the hardware test board and test program using visual C++. We verify the performance of this chip by driving the servo motor and the function by GUI(Graphic User Interface) environment.

  • Usability is defined by the effectiveness efficiency and satisfaction with which specified users can achieve a specified goal in the particular environment. This paper is not only to provide a framework for specifying the usability attributes of a product and establishing a comprehensive set of usability criteria, but also to asses usability metrics of the software. The Evaluation Tool for Software Usability are developed based on the properties of the a user interface using ISO standard and general usability principles with product-oriented view. It means that product has attributes contributing to determine the usability. This paper also suggests the way to weight the relative importance of the individual usability item depending on the software categories.

  • In this paper, we discuss the system configuration and the design issues of CATS-i, a set of installation and administration tools for Linux cluster systems. CATS-i enables users to manage cluster systems easily, quickly, and safety. It integrates many functions, ranging from installing operating systems and applications to real-time monitoring and management of various important resources. In addition, batch job submission and management are included. These functions support a single system image. Finally, a powerful graphic user interface based on Java lets users quickly understand the cluster status and conveniently use the CATS-i on the Web.
