  • This paper examined closely on the application of the private securities to the measures for countering terrorism. It is related to the fact that the role of human information comes into the picture nowadays. On closer examination of the application of the private securities to the national facilities, transportation, and multi-use facilities, it was found that having consistent commissioned education through the private-public cooperation and enacting legislation for allowing armed guard to board ships, making private security guards to use sniffer dogs, placing private security guards in each subway station is required, and the active publicity campaign of the government concerned needs to take place for directing and setting up the system for supervising managers of the authorities and changing the way they think of countering terrorism.

  • Nowadays, interests in land cover classification using not only multi-sensor images but also thematic GIS information are increasing. Often, although useful GIS information for the classification is available, the traditional MLE (maximum likelihood estimation techniques) does not allow us to use the information, due to the fact that it cannot handle the GIS data properly. This paper propose two extended MLE algorithms that can integrate both remote sensing images and GIS thematic data for land-cover classification. They include modified MLE and Bayesian predictive likelihood estimation technique (BPLE) techniques that can handle both categorical GIS thematic data and remote sensing images in an integrated manner. The proposed algorithms were evaluated through supervised land-cover classification with Landsat ETM+ images and an existing land-use map in the Gongju area, Korea. As a result, the proposed method showed considerable improvements in classification accuracy, when compared with other multi-spectral classification techniques. The integration of remote sensing images and the land-use map showed that overall accuracy indicated an improvement in classification accuracy of 10.8% when using MLE, and 9.6% for the BPLE. The case study also showed that the proposed algorithms enable the extraction of the area with land-cover change. In conclusion, land cover classification results produced through the integration of various GIS spatial data and multi-spectral images, will be useful to involve complementary data to make more accurate decisions.

  • Lithium-ion batteries have been designed and used as battery packs with series and parallel combinations that are suitable for use. However, due to its internal electrochemical properties, producing the battery's condition at the same value is impossible for individual cells. In addition, the management of characteristic deviations between individual cells is essential for the safe and efficient use of batteries as aging progresses with the use of batteries. In this work, we propose a method to manage deviation properties and detect abnormal behavior in the configuration of a combined battery pack of these multiple battery cells. The proposed method can separate and detect probabilistic low-frequency information according to statistical information based on Z-score. The verification of the proposed algorithm was validated using experimental results from 10S3P battery packs, and the implemented algorithm based on Z-score was validated as a way to effectively manage multiple individual cell information.

  • Recently, the airport operator provides information such as real-time airport processing status, which allows users to determine the time to arrive at the airport at their own judgment. It is provided through their website and mobile Apps in order to resolve the customer's failure to board the aircraft and the inconvenience caused by waiting for the airport, etc. However, there was a lack of research cases on the intention of users to continue using such real-time airport information. Therefore, research on the field was studied by applying flow and trust theory based on human emotions. The research method verified reliability, validity, correlation between variables, and hypotheses using structural equations. As a result of the study, it was found that flow and trust had a significant effect on the intention to continue using. In other words, passengers were intended to continue to use the behavior they were searching for when they felt wise, enjoyable, and reliable etc.

  • Purpose: Research carried out with gynecologic cancer patients using CAM was reviewed to provide a source for discussing which CAM method is used for which purpose, patients' perceptions on the effects/side effects occurred during/after using CAM and their sources of information regarding CAM. Materials and Methods: This literature review was carried out for the period between January 2000 and March 2015 using Scopus, Dynamed, Med-Line, Science Dırect, Ulakbim, Research Starters, Ebscohost, Cinahl Complete, Academic Onefile, Directory of Open Access Journals, BMJ Online Journals (2007-2009), Ovid, Oxford Journal, Proquest Hospital Collection, Springer-Kluwer Link, Taylor & Francis, Up To Date, Web Of Science (Citation Index), Wiley Cochrane-Evidence Base, Wiley Online Library, and Pub-Med search databases with "complementary and alternative medicine, gynecologic cancer" as keywords. After searching through these results, a total of 12 full length papers in English were included. Results: CAM use in gynecologic cancer patients was discussed in 8 studies and CAM use in breast and gynecologic cancer patients in 4. It was determined that the frequency of CAM use varies between 40.3% and 94.7%. As the CAM method, herbal medicines, vitamins/minerals were used most frequently in 8 of the studies. When the reasons why gynecologic cancer patients use CAM are examined, it is determined that they generally use to strengthen the immune system, reduce the side effects of cancer treatment and for physical and psychological relaxation. In this review, most of the gynecologic cancer patients perceived use of CAM as beneficial. Conclusions: In order that the patients obtain adequate reliable information about CAM and avoid practices which may harm the efficiency of medical treatment, it is recommended that "Healthcare Professionals" develop a common language.

  • As the ubiquitous technology has been widespread, the u-service development in the private sector is increasing these days. Especially, consisting of various life spaces, a mixed-use complex started actively utilizing the ubiquitous technology in order to provide users with differentiated services. In this paper, a new development methodology of the u-service for a mixed-use complex is proposed. Because the ultimate purpose of the u-service in a mixed-use complex is to guarantee profitability, the u-service must accelerate commercial activities among various users in the complex. The u-service development methodology of a mixed-use complex proposed in this paper firstly defines various perspectives for the u-service and identifies specific u-service elements in cross points of the perspectives. Then with those u-service elements, the methodology generates a u-service pool. Finally, after evaluation process, target u-serviced to develop are selected. Having designed the u-service development methodology, we expect the methodology to contribute the successful implementation of u-service model for a mixed-use complex.

  • Land use/land cover is very important to understand the change in the land cover between specific periods. But as there are number of factors which are responsible for the change in the land cover, it is very difficult to identify the specific factors. Therefore in the study we made an attempt to use the land use strategies quantitatively and conducted simulation study. The input data using the CLUE-S model are the satellite data of 1987 and 2001 from Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) and Enhanced Thematic Mapper (ETM+) and we conducted simulations for 23 years from 1987 to 2010. As a result, the accuracy between the land use map derived from original satellite data and simulation for 2001 was 93.69% and in this reason we could expect land use and land cover in the future.
