Application of UAV images for rainfall-induced slope stability analysis in urban areas

  • This study evaluated slope stability through a case study to determine the disaster risks associated with increased deforestation in structures, including schools and apartments, located in urban areas adjacent to slopes. The slope behind the ○○ High School in Gwangju, Korea, collapsed owing to heavy rain in August 2018. Historically, rainwater drained well around the slope during the rainy season. However, during the collapse, a large amount of seepage water flowed out of the slope surface and a shallow failure occurred along the saturated soil layer. To analyze the cause of the collapse, the images of the upper area of the slope, which could not be directly identified, were captured using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). A digital elevation model of the slope was constructed through image analysis, making it possible to calculate the rainfall flow direction and the area, width, and length of logging areas. The change in the instability of the slope over time owing to rainfall lasting ten days before the collapse was analyzed through numerical analysis. Imaging techniques based on the UAV images were found to be effective in analyzing ground disaster risk maps in urban areas. Furthermore, the analysis was found to predict the failure before its actual occurrence.

Assessment of Radionuclide Deposition on Korean Urban Residential Area

  • Background: An important lesson learned from the Fukushima accident is that the transition to the mid- and long-term phases from the emergency-response phase requires less than a year, which is not very long. It is necessary to know how much radioactive material has been deposited in an urban area to establish mid- and long-term countermeasures after a radioactive accident. Therefore, an urban deposition model that can indicate the site-specific characteristics must be developed. Materials and Methods: In this study, the generalized urban deposition velocity and the subsequent variation in radionuclide contamination were estimated based on the characteristics of the Korean urban environment. Furthermore, the application of the obtained generalized deposition velocity in a hypothetical scenario was investigated. Results and Discussion: The generalized deposition velocities of 137Cs, 106Ru, and 131I for each residence type were obtained using three-dimensional (3D) modeling. For all residence types, the deposition velocities of 131I are greater than those of 106Ru and 137Cs. In addition, we calculated the generalized deposition velocities for each residential types. Iodine was the most deposited nuclide during initial deposition. However, the concentration of iodine in urban environment drastically decreases owing to its relatively shorter half-life than 106Ru and 137Cs. Furthermore, the amount of radioactive material deposited in nonresidential areas, especially in parks and schools, is more than that deposited in residential areas. Conclusion: In this study, the generalized urban deposition velocities and the subsequent deposition changes were estimated for the Korean urban environment. The 3D modeling was performed for each type of urban residential area, and the average deposition velocity was obtained and applied to a hypothetical accident. Based on the estimated deposition velocities, the decision-making systems can be improved for responding to radioactive contamination in urban areas. Furthermore, this study can be useful to predict the radiological dose in case of large-scale urban contamination and can support decision-making for long-term measurement after nuclear accident.

도시재생 측면에서 입체도시계획의 기능과 제도 개선 방안 (Improvement of Multi-Dimensional Urban Planning System for Urban Regeneration)

  • 본 연구는 도시재생 관점에서 입체도시의 효과를 밝히고, 국내 입체도시계획 관련 제도의 문제점과 한계를 고찰함으로써 제도적 개선방안을 제시하고자 수행되었다. 그리하여 사례 분석을 통해 도시공간 연결, 지역경제 활성화, 기반시설 확충, 주택 공급 등 입체도시의 도시재생 기능과 역할을 파악하였으며, 제도적 문제점으로 국유재산에 대한 사권설정 금지로 민간참여가 저해되고, 2차원적 토지이용계획에 의거한 획일적인 기반시설 설치 기준으로 일정비율 이상의 토지 확보가 없으면 입체공간 활용이 어려우며, 법률간 연계성이 미흡한 문제를 도출하였다. 결론적으로 지역기반 산업구조 다양화 및 도시기능 강화 등을 목표로 입체시설 추진을 적극 지원 유도하고, 구도심 구역을 대상으로 입체 복합개발을 추진하며, 노후주택가의 공원, 학교, 도로, 전통시장의 하부공간을 활용한 보행로, 지하상가, 주차장 등의 도시재생사업 실현을 위해 중앙정부, 지자체, 민간부문 간 협력이 이루어져야 한다.

도시성장모형의 시뮬레이션 자동화에 관한 연구 (Research about Urban Growth Model's Automation)

  • 최근 토지이용 변화에 관한 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있으며, 그 중에서 셀룰라 오토마타(Cellular Automata, CA)를 이용한 연구방법이 도시성장에 많이 활용되고 있다. CA는 셀 상태가 전이규칙에 따라 새로운 시점의 상태로 변하는 연산을 반복한다. 또한 퍼지-AHP를 이용하여 정보 손실을 최소화하고, 유연한 도시성장 모델링을 유도할 수 있다. 그러나 AHP의 경우 가중치 도출까지 의사수렴 작업이 반복되어야 하는 어려움이 있다. 그리고 셀룰라 오토마타를 이용한 시뮬레이션은 많은 연산 모델링이 필요하고, 도출된 데이터 관리 및 일정 기준 시점마다 일치성을 검증하여야 한다. 이에 본 연구는 변수에 상대적 가중치를 부여하는 AHP 단계부터 셀룰라 오토마타를 이용한 도시성장 및 검증과정을 자동화하여 부산시 도시성장을 분석하고 예측하였다. 이를 통하여 도시성장 모델링의 복잡성과 반복성 문제를 개선할 수 있다. 또한 검증과정 부분을 통해 유용성 높은 모델링을 할 수 있으며, 작성된 모듈을 사용하여 이와 유사한 사례 연구에 적용할 수 있다.

Comparison of the Lighting Environment in Study Rooms for Juveniles between the City and the Country

  • The research aims at providing data needed for planning the lighting of a study room by comparing the lighting environments of study rooms for urban and rural juveniles. The subject of the research was 300 students in middle schools in Daegu and Checngdo-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do (Daegu 150 houses and Cheongdo 150 houses), and their study rooms were examined. The following is the result of the research. First, rural students stayed more time in their study room than urban students. The task that rural students (studying) and urban students (studying and using computer) all did in their study room was mainly visual work Second, although the sizes of rural study rooms were bigger than those of urban study rooms, urban study rooms had more light sources than rural study rooms. In the rate that of having a task lighting, the city(87.1[%]) was higher than the country (45.7[%]). However, the rate of using a task lighting was lot high in both the city and the country. Third, the result that compared the average values of illuminations on desk planes was that the average value of the city was 3.4 times higher than that of the country. Also, the average value of the country did not meet the standard illumination of Korean industrial standards (KS). In particular, it did not reach the lowest standard. The result is related with that only 52[%] of students who had a task lighting used it. Finally, the satisfaction of lighting environment in the city was generally higher than the country. Especially, although the country had a low illumination, the user showed a high satisfaction. It indicates that people living in the country need to understand about the needs of illumination.

지역규모에 따른 초·중학생의 ICT 리터러시 수준 차이 분석 (Analysis on ICT literacy Level of Elementary and Middle School Students by Region)

  • 본 논문에서는 정보 분야의 학습 능력을 나타낼 수 있는 ICT 리터러시에 대해 지역 규모에 따른 수준의 차이를 측정해 분석하였다. 그 결과, 초등학교에서는 지역규모에 따른 ICT 리터러시 검사의 평균 점수가 대도시, 중소도시, 읍면지역 순으로 높았고 중학교에서는 중소도시, 대도시, 읍면지역 순으로 높게 나타났다. ICT 리터러시 세부 능력요소 및 등급의 차이도 지역규모에 따라 초등학교와 중학교에서 다른 양상을 보이는 것을 확인하였다. 다만, 초등학교와 중학교 모두 읍면지역 학생들의 점수가 다른 지역 학생들의 점수보다 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해, 도시지역과 읍면지역 학생들 간에 격차가 발생하고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 이를 개선하기 위한 체계적인 교육 프로그램 개발이 필요한 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구는 향후 지역규모 및 학교급별 특성에 따른 체계적인 ICT 리터러시 교육 정책 및 프로그램 개발의 필요성을 위한 기초 자료로서 의의가 있다.

학교와 인접한 회전교차로 보행자 사고심각도 영향요인 분석 (Analysis on the Accident Factors of Pedestrian Accident Severity in Roundabout Near School)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting the roundabout accidents near schools. This study gives particular attentions discussing characteristics by pedestrian accident severity using the ordered logit models. In pursuing the above, 63 roundabouts installed before 2014 are surveyed for modeling. the traffic accident data from 2014 to 2016 are collected from TAAS data set of Road Traffic Authority. Such 35variables explaining the accidents as environment, human, geometries, school and roundabout factor are selected from literature reviews. The main results are as follows. First, the ordered logit models (${\rho}^2$ of 0.272, $x^2$ of 24.723) which is statistically significant have been developed. Second, environment factor variable is analyzed to be day or night ($X_1$ ), human factor variables are evaluated to be driver gender($X_4$), older driver($X_5$), pedestrian gender($X_7$) and children pedestrian($X_8$ ). Third, geometries factor variable are analyzed to be speed limit sign($X_{16}$) and median barrier($X_{21}$), school factor variables are evaluated to be hump-type crosswalk($X_{25}$), CCTV($X_{26}$) and school zone sign($X_{27}$), roundabout factor are analyzed to be roundabout sign($X_{30}$) and number of circulatory roadway lane($X_{32}$). Finally, this study could give some implications to decreasing the accidents severity at roundabout near schools.

농촌지역 영어교육환경 개선을 위한 영어도서관 활용방안 (A Study on Application of English Library to Improve for English Education Environment in Rural Area)

  • This study is undertaken to present the facilitation plan of English library that specialized the resource-based learning to provide learning that is suited for student's own learning style and self-leading learning as the method to learn contents required for individuals as a method for improving the English education environment in the rural areas. For this purpose, a study was conducted to find out the possibility of facilitating English library in the rural areas on the basis of consulting for structuring and operating English library in public libraries located in isolated areas clustered with low income class in the urban areas where the conditions are similar to the rural areas and results are shown as the followings. First, it displayed the possibility to have the rural area located with many closed schools or small-sized schools to facilitate the available facilities to build up the environment to specialize in English education that would be as comparable as any facilities in any urban setting. Second, it would enable the conditions to moderate the conflict on education environment for local residents who felt inequality in education by providing the benefit for fine education linked to public education through English library without going through private education. And third, English library that has the limitations in locality or economic means would actively participate by local educational institutions and volunteers to enhance the sense of master for the local residents and bring residents together to make positive impact on local economy facilitation.

라이프스타일에 따른 도시농업 유형 선호도 분석 (The Analysis on the Preference of Urban Agriculture Types in Accordance with Lifestyle)

  • 본 연구는 라이프스타일에 따른 도시농업 유형 선호도를 분석함으로써 향후 "도시농업활성화 정책" 수립을 위한 기초 자료를 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 연구방법은 서울특별시 자치구 중 도시농업 활성화를 지원할 수있는 근거를 마련한 9개자치구민을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 이를 통해 라이프스타일과 도시농업 선호활동과의 인과관계를 검정하고자 하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, '건강추구형'이 도심형 도시농업에 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 이는 안전한 먹거리와 건강을 추구하는 도시민이 도시농업 교육 프로그램에 적극적으로 참여하고, 도심 내 자연경관 향상을 위해 식물 및 경관작물 심기, 도시농업박람회 참가 등의 도심형 도시농업 활동을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, '여가활동형'이 주택활용형 도시농업에 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 주로 취미 및 여가활동을 중시하는 도시민은 실내 생활 속에 텃밭 가꾸기, 아파트 베란다 공간을 활용한 텃밭 가꾸기 등 주로 텃밭 가꾸기 등의 주택활용형 도시농업 활동을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, '건강추구형'이 학교교육형 도시농업과, 농장 및 공원형 도시농업에 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 건강을 추구하는 도시민은 교육농장 참여 및 학교텃밭 가꾸기, 도심 외곽 개인 농장 운영, 도시농업 박람회 참가 등의 참여 활동을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, '가족지향형'이 학교교육형 도시농업에 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 가족지향형 도시민은 학교와 연계된 다양한 도시농업 교육 및 활동에 적극 참여하는 활동을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 도시농업 유형을 고찰하고, 라이프스타일과 도시농업 유형 선호도와의 영향관계를 살펴, 도시농업의 실수요자의 성향 및 선호활동을 알아보는데 연구의 의의가 있다.

충남지역 초등학교의 구강보건관리 실태 (Current Oral Health Care of Elementary School in Chungnam Province, Korea)

  • Primary school is regarded as an important period when many health-related behaviors and life-styles begin to be formed. Acquiring them through school heath education has a strong influence on the health promotion of not only the family but also the community. The objectives of this study were to evaluate current oral health care of elementary schools in Chungnam province and to provide information for further development in elementary school oral health. We performed a questionnaire survey to 280 health teachers and among them, 155 teachers answered. The result of this study were as follows: 1. Sixty five percent of the health teachers had little interest in oral health. Major information sources for teaching oral health were books in 58.1% of the 155 teachers and 83.2% of teachers spent 30 minutes to 1hour per day in oral health care practice for the students. 2. Contents of the oral health education were composed of regular and special curriculums, and an average of education time during a semester was 2.6 hours in 3rd grade, and 1.3 hours in first and second grade. 60.6% of the teachers made the children practice the proper method of tooth brushing during the education time. 3. Major problems in oral health education were insufficient time, lack of equipment and difficulty in teaching method. The educational media were tooth models among 91.0% and OHP among 85.2% of the teachers. The tooth model was usually used in first to fourth grades and OHP in fifth to sixth grades. But 63.9% health teachers need to develop stronger educational methods using multimedia. 4. Meanwhile the most important strategy of oral health in urban schools was health education, that of rural schools was fluoride mouth-rinsing programme. Fluoride mouth-rinsing programmes were performed by 60.0% of the elementary school. Periodic dental examination was performed in all elementary schools. 98.2% of the schools sent the results home through school notification letters, but post-examination management was performed in only 67.1% of them 64.5% of the health teachers do follow-ups on the oral disease of the children after the examination. Only 0.7% of the schools have oral health education plans for the students' parents. Considering these major strategies for elementary school oral health care were health education, practicing proper methods of tooth brushing, periodic dental examinations, and fluoride mouth-rinsing programmes. But health teachers need more time for oral health education, practicing and management, and developing education materials. With regard to the high demand for oral health education and poor follow-up after periodic examination, the oral health education in elementary school should be considered as a formal educational course for more proper management of oral health, including application of major strategies to the children in earlier grades and efforts for increasing recognition and participation of the parents.
