A Study on Risk Influence Factors of Ground Subsidence through Soil Investigation Analysis (지반조사 분석을 통한 지반함몰 위험영향인자 연구)

  • Recently, the development of underground space is being actively carried out in the urban area by saturation, and the excavation works are mainly carried out by various excavation methods by the structures adjacent to the ground and underground excavation. During such excavation work, ground subsidence accidents are occurring due to inattention construction, lack of construction technology, and leakage of ground water. For the prevention of ground subsidence we studied the method of risk influence factors by soil investigation. Analysis of 75 sites soil investigation by U.S.C.S (Unified Soil Classification System), construction method, depth of excavation and we studied the risk influence factors with ground subsidence.

Weed Flora of Sidewalk at the University Campus (대학 캠퍼스내 보도블록에 출현한 잡초 식물상)

  • Most of the plants and trees are landscaping plants at the university campus, Thus, the natural flora can be found on sidewalks like urban area. In order to investigate the flora on sidewalks of the university campus, the vegetation survey was done. The study site is Natural Science Campus, Sungkyunkwan University which is located at Suwon, Korea. Vascular plants surveyed were consisted of 130 taxa, 39 families, 99 genera, 115 species, 15 varieties. Indigenous weeds was 101 species (77.7%). Naturalized weeds was 29 species (22.3%). In the families, Compositae 30 species (23%), Gramineae 18 species (14%), Leguminosae 9 species (7%), Caryophyllaceae 8 species (6%), Cruciferae 8 species (6%), Polygonaceae 5 species (4%), Euphorbiaceae 5 species (4%), Scrophulariaceae 4 species (3%), Rosaceae 3 species (2%), Violaceae 3 species (2%), Convolvulaceae 3 species (2%) and etc. 34 species (27%). Life Form of flora in the site by Raunkiaer classification was Therophytes 67 species (51.5%), Hemicryptophytes 46 species (35.4%), Geophytes 8 species (6.2%), Nanophanerophytes 4 species (3.1%), Phanerohytes 3 species (2.3%) and Chamaephytes 2 species (1.5%). Naturalized Ratios was 10.7%.

Improving performance of soil stabilizer by scientific combining of industrial wastes

  • In this paper, based on understanding the design theories on soil stabilization, a series of soil stabilizers were prepared with different kinds of industrial wastes such as calcined coal gangue (CCG), blast furnace slag (SS), steel slag (SL), carbide slag (CS), waste alkali liquor (JY), and phosphogypsum (PG). The results indicated that when the Portland cement (PC) proportion was lower than 20% in the stabilizer, for the soil sample selected from Wuhan (WT) and Beijing (BT), the unconfined compress strength (UCS) of the stabilized soil specimens could increase 4.8 times and 5.4 times respectively than that of the specimens stabilized only by PC; compared with the UCS of the specimen stabilized only by PC, the UCS of the specimen which was made from soil sample WT and stabilized by the stabilizer composed only by CCG, CS, and PG increased 1.5 times, and UCS of the specimen which was made from soil sample BT and stabilized by the stabilizer composed only by SS, JY, and PG increased 4.5 times.

  • Recently, robotic technologies have significantly improved, bringing considerable enhancements in many sectors; the main objective of this paper is to figure out if these innovations have also involved the building industry. To achieve this purpose, it has been considered crucial to first reshape and clarify some concepts, incorporating a much more flexible understanding of the term "robot", as well as the formulation of its future potential. Subsequently, it has been carried out an analysis of the various advanced devices that are currently available to be employed in the construction processes; the review includes a thorough classification of construction robots, divided into 18 families reflecting their purpose of use, and a dissection based on the term used to define them. The attention has been focused on the most updated and recent robots and, in their absence, on the most advanced machines prevailing. This operation has been achieved taking into account the development history of construction robots, as well as the analyses and classifications previously conducted, reconsidering them according to the just mentioned reflections. Furthermore, an in-depth exploration of the exoskeletons, as well as on a sophisticated robot recently developed by Schindler Group has been executed.

Transition of Four Major Social Safety Indexes by Time Series Data Analysis (시계열 자료 분석을 통한 4대 사회안전지표 변화 추이)

  • Four major social safety indexes including industrial accident, traffic accident, fire, and violent crime were selected, and transition of those values by time series data analysis since 2003 was presented. Comparing with the 2003 figure, the index of industrial accident was reduced by 27.8%, which was the most improved safety index. The indicators describing the traffic accident and violent crime rate were reduced by approximately 12%. However, the fire safety index showed an increase of 40% compared with the base year because national fire classification system was changed so that minor fire is also included in the counting since 2006.

  • Geospatial analysis method was applied for classification of suitable site for farmstead. Typical urban suburb and rural area was selected and analyzed, that is Cheongwon County in Chungbuk Province, South Korea. In this study, suitable site for the farmstead was classified by five grade in the other site except suitable area for paddy field, upland, settlement and Green Belt, regulated area for development around the city. Digital Elevation Model(DEM), detailed soil map, administration boundary map, stream map and Green Belt map where digitized and scoring tables were composed with scoring standard. In site verification, Geospatial Information System(GSIS) was quite good tools for suitable site classifying for farmstead causing farm household income increasing, environmental impact decreasing and scientific site selection.

A Study on Regular Cervical Cancer Screening Behavior among Middle-aged Women (중년여성의 규칙적인 자궁경부암 검진 이행관련 요인)

  • Purpose: To identify the status of regular cervical cancer screening practices among middle-aged women, the associations between regular practice and research factors, and the predictive model and factors effecting such behavior was studied. Method: Two hundred women, aged 40 to 60, were selected by convenience in one urban area of Seoul. They were asked about their regular attendance for screening, knowledge of cancer and screening, health belief, health self-determination index and certain personal factors. Result: Approximately 54.5% of the women had periodic screening tests every 6 months to 2 years. Their knowledge of cervical cancer and health belief were at the medium level of each scale, but their health self-determination scores (HSDI) were low. Some influencing factors, and their cancer odds ratio were identified through univariate regression analysis. These variables were included in a predictive model, and this model proved to have enough fit and classification power (83.5%). In this model, the financial state, self-belief and self-determination scores were found to be significant. Conclusion: Middle-age women's intrinsic motivation for healthy behavior was found to be low in those who felt to be in a poor financial state, had higher perceived barriers, lower perceived benefits and a lower prevalence of undergoing regular screening test.

A Study on the Internet-based Collaborative Exterior Design Process to Support Users′Participation in Apartment Exterior Remodeling (공동주택 외관 리모델링 과정에서 거주자 참여 설계를 지원하는 인터넷 기반 외관디자인 협업설계 프로세스에 관한 연구)

  • The facade design of apartment is getting more important, since residents'needs on raising the quality of housing have increased, and also public interests on urban landscape are higher than before. As a way of improving facade design the necessity of remodeling consequently has been risen. The government also relieves the regulations related to remodeling. A apartment facade design should address how to express both identities and aesthetic tastes of residents, so they want to reflect their own ideas and opinions on the apartment facade design during the remodeling process. It is not always easy, unfortunately, to reflect residents'ideas and opinions due to the public characteristics of apartment facades and absence of tools that support effective design participation. This paper proposes an internet-based collaborative design process that supports residents'active participation in the exterior remodeling process of apartment. We outline three main issues involved in developing the design system: 1) a semantic facade database built upon classification of building facades; 2) an Internet-based facade modeler based on a real-time, rule-based procedural modeling method; and finally 3) the virtual reality(VR) simulation that allows a group of designers and residents to design in a collaborative fashion.

A Simulation Study on Future Climate Change Considering Potential Forest Distribution Change in Landcover (잠재 산림분포 변화를 고려한 토지이용도가 장래 기후변화에 미치는 영향 모사)

  • Future climate according to land-use change was simulated by regional climate model. The goal of study was to predict the distribution of meteorological elements using the Weather Research & Forecasting Model (WRF). The KME (Korea Ministry of Environment) medium-category land-use classification was used as dominant vegetation types. Meteorological modeling requires higher and more sophisticated land-use and initialization data. The WRF model simulations with HyTAG land-use indicated certain change in potential vegetation distribution in the future (2086-2088). Compared to the past (1986-1988) distribution, coniferous forest area was decreased in metropolitan and areas with complex terrain. The research shows a possibility to simulate regional climate with high resolution. As a result, the future climate was predicted to $4.5^{\circ}$ which was $0.5^{\circ}$ higher than prediction by Meteorological Administration. To improve future prediction of regional area, regional climate model with HyTAG as well as high resolution initial values such as urban growth and CO2 flux simulation would be desirable.

A Statistic Correlation Analysis Algorithm Between Land Surface Temperature and Vegetation Index

  • As long as the effective contributions of satellite images in the continuous monitoring of the wide area and long range of time period, Landsat TM and Landsat ETM+ satellite images are surveyed. After quantization and classification of the deviations between TM and ETM+ images based on approved thresholds such as gains and biases or offsets, a correlation analysis method for the compared calibration is suggested in this paper. Four time points of raster data for 15 years of the highest group of land surface temperature and the lowest group of vegetation of the Kunsan city Chollabuk_do Korea located beneath the Yellow sea coast, are observed and analyzed their correlations for the change detection of urban land cover. This experiment based on proposed algorithm detected strong and proportional correlation relationship between the highest group of land surface temperature and the lowest group of vegetation index which exceeded R=(+)0.9478, so the proposed Correlation Analysis Model between the highest group of land surface temperature and the lowest group of vegetation index will be able to give proof an effective suitability to the land cover change detection and monitoring.
