The escalating demands for high-resolution satellite imagery necessitate the dissemination of geospatial data with superior accuracy.Achieving precise positioning is imperative for mitigating geometric distortions inherent in high-resolution satellite imagery. However, maintaining sub-pixel level accuracy poses significant challenges within the current technological landscape. This research introduces an approach wherein upsampling is employed on both the satellite image and ground control points (GCPs) chip, facilitating the establishment of a high-resolution satellite image precision sensor orientation. The ensuing analysis entails a comprehensive comparison of matching performance. To evaluate the proposed methodology, the Compact Advanced Satellite 500-1 (CAS500-1), boasting a resolution of 0.5 m, serves as the high-resolution satellite image. Correspondingly, GCP chips with resolutions of 0.25 m and 0.5 m are utilized for the South Korean and North Korean regions, respectively. Results from the experiment reveal that concurrent upsampling of satellite imagery and GCP chips enhances matching performance by up to 50% in comparison to the original resolution. Furthermore, the position error only improved with 2x upsampling. However, with 3x upsampling, the position error tended to increase. This study affirms that meticulous upsampling of high-resolution satellite imagery and GCP chips can yield sub-pixel-level positioning accuracy, thereby advancing the state-of-the-art in the field.

Image upsampling can be performed in both spatial and frequency (transform) domain. In the spatial domain, various upsampling techniques are developed and 6-tap FIR interpolation filter is most well known method, which is embedded in many video coding standards. It can provide high subjective quality but shows low objective quality. In the transform domain, simple zero padding method can produce upsampled image easily. It shows better objective quality than 6-tap filtering, but it yields ringing effects which annoy eyes. In this paper, we present efficient upsampling method using frequency addition method in transform domain to provide better subjective and objective quality than conventional method Extensive simulation results show that the proposed algorithm produces visually fine images with high PSNR.
In this paper, we propose a new method to convert a low-resolution depth map into its high-resolution one called distance transform-based bilateral upsampling. Since the proposed method controls the spatial domain weighting function based on distance transform values of the depth map, it increases the input depth map resolution while preserving edge sharpness. The proposed method is composed of three main steps: distance transform, spatial weighting control, and image interpolation. Experimental results show that our method outperforms the conventional bilateral upsampling in terms of the quality of output depth maps.

When we generate 3D video that provides immersive and realistic feeling to users, depth information of the scene is essential. Since the resolution of the depth map captured by a depth sensor is lower than of the color image, we need to upsample the low-resolution depth map for high-resolution 3D video generation. In this paper, we propose a depth upsampling method using depth-discontinuity information. Using the high-resolution color image and the low-resolution depth map, we detect depth-discontinuity regions. Then, we define an energy function for the depth map upsampling and optimize it using the belief propagation method. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms other depth upsampling methods in terms of the bad pixel rate.
A depth map is an important component for stereoscopic image generation. Since the depth map acquired from a depth camera has a low resolution, upsamling a low-resolution depth map to a high-resolution one has been studied past decades. Upsampling methods are evaluated by objective evaluation tools such as PSNR, Sharpness Degree, Blur Metric. As well, the subjective quality is compared using virtual views generated by DIBR (depth image based rendering). However, works on the analysis of the relation between depth map upsampling and stereoscopic images are relatively few. In this paper, we investigate the relationship between subjective evaluation of stereoscopic images and objective performance of upsampling methods using cross correlation and linear regression. Experimental results demonstrate that the correlation of edge PSNR and visual fatigue is the highest and the blur metric has lowest correlation. Further, from the linear regression, we found relative weights of objective measurements. Further we introduce a formulae that can estimate 3D performance of conventional or new upsampling methods.

High quality image processing schemes are used more widely than ever according to the development of various visual media. We need a compressed form of image for sending more capacity and a controlling strategy of images for small display devices. In this paper, we propose an image upsampling and downsamplig scheme using DCT coefficients for those purposes. Our scheme is designed to control the size of picture based on the target display media by reducing the data in DCT domain while not increasing the computational burdens. With the power of controlling the resolution in DCT domain, the proposed method shows higher PSNR than other competing methods in experiment.

Facial alignment is very important task for human life. And facial landmark detection is one of the instrumental methods in face alignment. We introduce the stacked hourglass networks with transposed convolutional layers for facial landmark detection. our method substitutes nearest neighbor upsampling for transposed convolutional layer. Our method returns better accuracy in facial landmark detection compared to stacked hourglass networks with nearest neighbor upsampling.
In recent years, deep convolutional neural networks have made significant progress in the research of single image super-resolution. However, it is difficult to be applied in practical computing terminals or embedded devices due to a large number of parameters and computational effort. To balance these problems, we propose CSRNet, a lightweight neural network based on channel split residual learning structure, to reconstruct highresolution images from low-resolution images. Lightweight refers to designing a neural network with fewer parameters and a simplified structure for lower memory consumption and faster inference speed. At the same time, it is ensured that the performance of recovering high-resolution images is not degraded. In CSRNet, we reduce the parameters and computation by channel split residual learning. Simultaneously, we propose a double-upsampling network structure to improve the performance of the lightweight super-resolution network and make it easy to train. Finally, we propose a new evaluation metric for the lightweight approaches named 100_FPS. Experiments show that our proposed CSRNet not only speeds up the inference of the neural network and reduces memory consumption, but also performs well on single image super-resolution.

In this paper, we present an upsampling technique for depth map image using selective bilateral weights and a color weight using laplacian function. These techniques prevent color texture copy problem, which problem appears in existing upsamplers uses bilateral weight. First, we construct a high-resolution image using the bicubic interpolation technique. Next, we detect a color texture region using pixel value differences of depth and color image. If an interpolated pixel belongs to the color texture edge region, we calculate weighting values of spatial and depth in $3{\times}3$ neighboring pixels and compute the cost value to determine the boundary pixel value. Otherwise we use color weight instead of depth weight. Finally, the pixel value having minimum cost is determined as the pixel value of the high-resolution depth image. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves good performance in terns of PSNR comparison and subjective visual quality.
