저수축제 폴리스틸렌과 불포화 폴리에스터 수지를 사용한 Sheet Molding Compound 제조 및 특성 (Preparation and Characteristic of Sheet Molding Compound using Unsaturated Polyester Resin with Low Profile Agent of Polystyrene)

  • 불포화 폴리에스터(unsaturated polyester, UP)와 저수축제(low profile agent, LPA), 폴리스틸렌(polystyrene, PS)과의 compatibility가 불포화 폴리에스터와 저수축제의 비율, 혼합시간, 혼합온도 그리고 추가로 투입되는 불포화 폴리에스터 수지량과 같은 다양한 조건하에서 확인되었다. 1단계로 1700 rpm의 교반속도에서 제조된 수지 혼합액의 경우, 불포화 폴리에스터 수지(unsaturated polyester resin, UPR) 투입량 25 g, 약 $30^{\circ}C$의 반응온도에서 상대적으로 작은 입자 크기 및 상분리율을 나타내었다. 2단계 수지 혼합액의 경우, 2차로 투입된 45 g의 불포화 폴리에스터 수지 혼합액에서 향상된 compatibility를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 혼합조건이 불포화 폴리에스터 수지와 저수축제 혼합액의 compatibility에 중요한 역할을 한다는 것을 의미한다. 또한, 상기조건을 통해 제조된 sheet molding compound (SMC)를 사용해서 만든 샘플은 흡수율, 수축율 및 광택도에서 향상된 결과를 나타내었다.

Effect of constant loading on unsaturated soil under water infiltration conditions

  • In many tropical regions, soil structures often fail under constant loads as a result of decreasing matric suction due to water infiltration. Most of the previous studies have been performed by infiltrating water in the soil specimen by keeping shear stress constant at 85-90% of peak shear strength in order to ensure specimen failure during water infiltration. However, not many studies are available to simulate the soil behavior when water is infiltrated at lower shear stress and how the deformations affect the soil behavior if the failure did not occur during water infiltration. This research aimed at understanding both the strength and deformation behavior of unsaturated soil during the course of water infiltration at 25%, 50% and 75% of maximum deviatoric stress and axial strain by keeping them constant. A unique stress-strain curve expresses the transient situation from unsaturated condition to failure state due to water infiltration is also drawn. The shearing-infiltration test results indicate that the water infiltration reduces matric suction and increase soil deformation. This research also indicates that unsaturated soil failure problems should not always be treated as shear strength problems but deformation should also be considered while addressing the problems related to unsaturated soils.

Stability analyses of dual porosity soil slope

  • Many geotechnical analyses require the investigation of water flow within partially saturated soil zone to incorporate the effect of climatic conditions. It is widely understood that the hydraulic properties of the partially saturated soil should be included in the transient seepage analyses. However, the characteristics of dual porosity soils with dual-mode water retention curve are normally modelled using single-mode mathematical equation for simplification of the analysis. In reality, the rainwater flow can be affected significantly by the dual-mode hydraulic properties of the soil. This paper presents the variations of safety factor for dual porosity soil slope with dual-mode water retention curve and dual-mode unsaturated permeability. This paper includes the development of the new dual-mode unsaturated permeability to represent the characteristics of soil with the dual-mode water retention curve. The finite element analyses were conducted to examine the role of dual-mode water retention curve and dual-mode unsaturated permeability on the variations of safety factor under rainfall loading. The results indicate that the safety factor variations of dual porosity soil slope modelled using the dual-mode water retention curve and the unsaturated permeability equation are lower than those of dual porosity slope modelled using single-mode water retention curve and unsaturated permeability equations.

불포화된 화강풍화토에 대한 공학적 특성분석을 위한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Engineering Characteristics Analysis of Unsaturated Weathered Granite Soil)

  • 연구목적: 불포화토에서 발생하는 모관흡수력의 존재는 사면의 안정성을 증가시키지만, 강우침투 로 인한 모관흡수력의 감소는 갑작스런 사면 파괴를 유발하여 큰 재난을 발생시킬 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 우리나라의 대표적인 산흙인 화강풍화토에 대하여 불포화상태에서의 공학적 특성을 분석하였다. 연구방법:화강풍화토에 대하여 입도상태가 양호한 경우와 입도상태가 불량한 경우로 나누어 불포화 상태에서 함수특성곡선, 불포화투수곡선, 모관흡수력에 대한 불포화 전단강도 관계 등으로서 실험과 분석을 수행하였다. 연구결과: 입도분포가 불량한 경우가 입도분포가 균등한 경우에 비하여 체적함수비에 대한 모관흡수력의 변화가 급격히 발생하는 것으로 분석되었다. 입도가 균등한 경우가 입도가 불량한 경우에 비하여 동일한 모관흡수력에서 투수계수가 비교적 작은 값을 나타내었다. 모관흡수력이 크게 작용할수록 전단강도가 증가하는 경항을 보였다. 결론: 우리나라의 대표적인 산흙인 화강풍화토에 대하여 입도상태가 양호한 경우와 입도상태가 불량한 경우로 나누어 불포화상태에서의 공학적 특성인 함수특성곡선, 불포화투수계수, 불포화 전단강도 등에 대하여 실험을 실시하여 각각의 상관관계를 확보하였다.

防潮堤의 浸透流 解析에 관한 硏究 (Studies on Seepage Flow Analysis through Sea Dike)

  • A mathematical model, UNSATR which predicts the seepage flow through the body of dike especially under the tidal fluctuation has been developed. This model has been revised from UNSAT2 model which was developed on the basis of the saturated-unsaturated theory by Neuman. UNSATR has been verified and applied to the hydraulic model in order to estimated the seepage quantity, the formation of free water surface etc. The results lead to the following conclusions : 1. Seepage rates between the mathematical model and hydraulic model experiment are very similar to each other both in constant and transient water level conditions. 2. The lapsed time to be steady state of the free water surface becomes late as the tidal levels are relatively low mainly due to the seepage flow from the unsaturated zone of the body of dike. 3. Under the transient state of water levels, owing to the flow from the unsaturated domain, streamlines crossing to the free water surface are found and time lag during a falling tide may allow the free water surface inside the body of dike to stand at a high level than the outside water level. 4. The utility and validity of UNSATR model are convinced when the analyses on seepage problems through the porous embankment of the soil structures on the conditions of the steady and unsteady states are carried out.

불포화토의 동전기정화 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (The Characteristics of Electrokinetic Remediation for Unsaturated Soil)

  • In this study, a series of electrokinetic(EK) remediation experiments are carried out under the different degree of saturation for contaminated soil with lead. for constant electrical potential, the final current of all the sample represents the similarity to steady-state value of 5∼7mA. Under conditions of all the degree of saturation the anode reservoir becomes acidic(pH as low as 3) while the cathode reservoir is basic(pH as high as 12). But pH changes in the sample is a little and decontamination efficiency is the low.

  • The mathematical model was proposed to simulate ozone transport and remediation in unsaturated soils contaminated with phenanthrene. Soil column experiments were also carried out to calibrate the mathematical model. The experimental results successfully matched with the modeling results in various soil conditions. The model proposed nondimensional fraction factor to reveal reactivity between phenanthrene and gas phase ozone and liquid phase ozone. From sensitivity analysis, the fraction factor and stoichiometric coefficient decreased as water content increased. Simulation results showed increased SOM content retarded the ozone transport and the phenanthrene removal due to increased ozone consumption.

  • The electrokinetic remediation tests for natural soil contaminated by lead are performed on unsaturated conditions, in which the degree of saturation is controlled through the changes in water content and the constant unit weight. At the degree of saturation of 70% the small acid range and electrical potential is developed. The changes in the water content are little above the saturation of 90%. But it is increased by 1.7 times at the degree of saturation of 70%. Finally, the efficiency of extraction is improved at 70% than 100%.

  • 비탈면 붕괴를 최소화 하기 위하여 조사, 설계, 해석, 대책방안 등의 연구가 많이 수행되고 있다. 그러나, 최근 태풍 및 집중호우로 인하여 비탈면 및 자연 사면의 산사태 발생빈도는 줄지 않고 있다. 단순한 설계 기준의 강화만으로는 적절한 대책을 마련하기 어려운 실정이다. 따라서, 지반과 강우를 고려한 최적의 조건에서 설계 및 안정해석을 실시하여야 한다. 본 연구는 비탈면 해석시 강우 및 해석조건에 대하여 각 변수의 영향을 살펴보고자 안전율의 변화를 다각도로 검토한 것이다. 연구방법으로는 비탈면 안정에 가장 민감하게 반응한다고 판단되는 강우조건과 지반조건을 선정하였고, 각각의 조건변수를 변화시켜가면서 수치해석적 검토를 수행하였다. 강우특성으로는 국내의 확률강우특성을 기반으로 해석을 수행하였으며 지반조건으로는 불포화토를 대상으로 검토를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 지역별 강우특성과 불포화토의 매개변수 적용이 비탈면 안전율 변화에 민감하게 반응하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 설계시 입력변수에 대한 충분한 검토가 선행되어야 할 것이다.

불포화지반에 대한 열-수리-역학 거동의 수식화 (Formulation of fully coupled THM behavior in unsaturated soil)

  • A great deal of attention is focused on coupled Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical (THM) behavior of multiphase porous media in diverse geo-mechanical and geo-environmental areas. This paper presents general governing equations for coupled THM processes in unsaturated porous media. Coupled partial differential equations are derived from 3 mass balances equations (solid, water, and air), energy balance equation, and force equilibrium equation. Finite element code is developed from the Galerkin formulation and time integration of these governing equations for 4 main variables (displacement $\underline{u}$, gas pressure $P_g$, liquid pressure $P_l$), and temperature T). The code is validated with theoretical solutions for linear material with simple boundary conditions.
