  • As long as there is education, there will be teacher education. This statement implies that science education is the first step for the improvement of science education of the secondary schools. And science education must reflect an everchanging reality of scientific, technological, and social changes. However there have been problems in the curiculum and its operation for science teacher education. Therefore this research has its objectives to: 1) investigate the current goals of science education in the Korean secondary schools. 2) analyze the quality' and Knowledge required for science teacher to achieve the goals. 3) investigate the status and problems of science teacher education in korea and foreign countries. 4) develop a model for curriculum and its operation for desirable science teacher education. As a result of the study, a model for curriculum is described and the summary of the results of the study and suggestions for operation of the model are followed.

  • In this paper, we propose to investigate the existing SW education related studies and to collect the total effect size for the improvement of computational thinking(CT) through meta-analysis and to confirm the effect size according to various variables. So, we have objectively identified and generalized the practical effects of SW education on the various variable. The results of the meta-analysis showed that 1) the overall effect of SW educational activities on CT improvement was 'Hedges' g=0.643', so SW educational activity can get a CT improvement of about 24% over other educational activities. 2) EPL is a SW teaching-learning method that greatly improves students' CT. 3) Since SW education can be guaranteed to improve CT among elementary school students and university students, essential SW education for these should be further promoted. And it was found that SW education activity were more effective for CT improvement in small cities & rural areas than big cities, but the cause was not identified, so further study will be required.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the key factors affecting the future college of education and describe two scenarios for prospecting the future college of education. In these scenarios, two important factors are selected to influence the college of education : 'Expansion of the marketization' and 'Development of technology'. As a result, two different scenarios have been identified. Scenario 1 is 'College of education realizing user centered education by development of the marketization and technology'. Scenarios 2 is 'College of education realizing welfare and the public of edaucaiton by using technology'. This study has some significance to the college of education in Korea in following aspects. 1) It applies future research methodology in method aspect 2) It arouses attention to the future college of education and reminds probabilities of change in context aspect.

  • Competency and competency-based education are topics of great interest to educators and administrators at most stages of undergraduate and postgraduate medical training. A competency-based approach in medical setting has been valued as a more effective way to strengthen learners' performance compared to the traditional education program. This article aims to explore theoretical and practical possibilities and limitations of competency-based medical education. We approached the topic in 3 gradual steps: the comprehension of background of competency-based education, the conceptual understanding of competency in professional education, and the exploration of possibilities and limitations of competency-based medical education. The last step of analysis was performed in three dimensions: educational objectives, references to judge performance, and performance evaluation criteria. In conclusion, we suggest 4 factors which need to be considered to implement a competency-based medical education.

  • This study aims to analyze the research trend of lifelong education in Korea over the last 10 years based on social network analysis. To do this, a dataset has been collected from KCI (Korea Citation Index) database. According to the results of the study, firstly, the current status of lifelong education research by the year in the last 10 years showed a relatively high ratio between 2008 and 2009 and 2014 ~ 2015. Secondly, the most active networks between authors and journals constitute a key group in the order of 'Lifelong Education Study' and 'Lifelong Learning Society'. Thirdly, the research institutes with the largest number of lifelong education research papers are Soongsil University, Dong-Eui University, and Korea National Open University. In the network with the authors' network, the only authors were K8 working at Chonbuk National University, and the co-authors, H4, who works at Kyungpook National University, showed the most active network. Finally, the core keyword network based on the thesis topic was analyzed as having higher connection centrality in the order of 'lifelong education', 'lifelong educator', and 'university lifelong education'.

  • This article explores how mathematics teacher educators (MTEs) engaged in collaborative inquiry into the microteaching experiences of preservice teachers (PSTs), ultimately developing a noticing framework through collective MTE inquiry. We delve into the specifics of what MTEs notice focusing on three emerging categories of noticing on PST's microteaching videos-lesson structure, task quality, and teaching practices. Each category, along with MTEs' noticing within these components, is elaborated through vignettes. This approach positions MTEs' noticing as a crucial element in the overarching vision to enhance the teaching practices of PSTs.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate pre-service elementary teachers' attitudes towards science teaching using 'Dimensions of Attitude Toward the Teaching of Science (DAS)'. After confirming the factors and reliabilities of the translated questionnaire by pilot test (N=68), the survey was administered online at one national university of education in Korea (N=527). The pre-service teachers generally thought elementary science education is important and did not believe gender difference in students and in teachers. Science education majors than other majors, males than females, and those who completed high school science track than humanity track had more positive attitudes toward science teaching in elementary school. The extent of teacher education curriculum completion had a little effect on the pre-service teachers' attitudes toward science teaching. The implications for teacher education were discussed.
