The ethnobotanical study was conducted to record and conserve the traditional knowledge of botanical taxa in Hallyeo-Haesang National Park area, S. Korea from 2012 to 2013. According to the survey results, derived from 1,430 sheets of 183 residents at 70 places, the ethnobotanical plants in Hallyeo-Haesang National Park area consisted of a total 247 taxa; 82 families, 197 genera, 224 species, 3 subspecies, 19 varieties and 1 form. The analysis of usage for 247 taxa showed that the edible use was the highest with 166 taxa, followed by medicinal with 138 taxa, craft with 27 taxa, material with 16 taxa and ritual with 9 taxa respectively. The leaf of plant was the most useful part, followed by stem and fruit plant. Quantitative analysis of the ethnobotanical plants in Hallyeo-Haesang National Park area was performed by the basic values of FC, NU and UR, and indices of CI, RFC, RI and CV. As a result, The CI places Artemisia princeps in the first position, followed by Pueraria lobata, Taraxacum platycarpum. The RFC place A. princeps in first position, followed by Achyranthes japonica, Aster scaber. The RI places A. princeps in the first position, followed by P. lobata, Pinus densiflora. The CV places A. princeps in the first position, followed by P. lobata, A. japonica. Farfugium japonicum had been used as specific ethnobotanical plant in this area, for arthralgia, postpartum arthrodynia, circulatory disturbance.
With Saxidomus Purpuratus which were sampled near Yungdo, in the harbor of Pusan during the period from September 1967 to October 1968, the author investigated the maturity against seasonal change of water temperature; and shell length, height and width against live weight, respectively, and the reciprocal correlations of shell length, height and width, as well. The maturity, concerned deeply with tile developing procedure of gonad, is dependent on the change in water temperature. The value of maturity becomes higher from March to May, but in August with high temperature the value decreases temporarily. During the main spawning season from the late August to the middle of October, the value shows the peak throughout a year. After the period, it has decreased until January when the water temperature is below $10^{\circ}C$ The equations of shell length against live weight for male($W=0.4749L^{2.62307}$)and for female ($W=0.3438L^{2.77993}$) shell height against live weight ($W=0.3221L^{3.06661}$), and shell width against live weight ($W=3.5868L^{2.46646}$), show non-straight lines respectively. On the other hand, th: equations of shell length against shell height Y=0.818x+0.292 (r=0.958), shell length against shell width Y=0.520x+0.200 (r=0.799) and shell height against shell width Y=0.499x+0.516 (r=0.773) show straight lines, respectively.

Two experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of dietary moisture content on the growth and gastrointestinal evacuation of sub-adult olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) in the summer and winter seasons. In the first experiment, three experimental diets containing different moisture levels (7%, 15%) and additives were prepared by adding water and commercial additives (1% nutrients, 1% digestives) to commercial extruded pellets. Fish (initial weight: $332{\pm}9.2$ g) were distributed randomly into six 3000 L tanks (25 fish/tank) in a flow-through tank system. Two replicate groups of fish were fed the experimental diets to satiation for 14 weeks during the summer season ($21.4{\pm}2.5^{\circ}C$). Survival, weight gain, feed efficiency, and daily feed intake did not differ significantly among groups. In the second experiment, two experimental diets containing different moisture levels (8%, 23%) were prepared by adding water to commercial extruded pellets. Fish (initial weight: $646{\pm}6.7$ g) were randomly distributed into six 3000 L tanks (20 fish/tank) in a flow-through tank system. Three replicate groups of fish were fed the experimental diets to satiation for 19 weeks during the winter season ($12.2{\pm}1.2^{\circ}C$). Weight gain, feed efficiency, and daily feed intake did not differ significantly among groups. Gastrointestinal evacuation rates were determined after the end of the winter feeding trials. The stomach contents of fish fed diets containing different moisture levels peaked within 3 h after feeding and then decreased gradually over 40 h to approach pre-feeding levels. Intestinal contents began to accumulate 3 h after feeding and reached a maximum at 32 h, then declined until nearly complete evacuation around 56 h. The stomach contents reached moisture levels of approximately 70% within 3 h after feeding and then increased gradually. No considerable difference in moisture levels was observed in the stomach contents of fish fed diets with different moisture contents. The results of this study suggest that the gastric evacuation of sub-adult olive flounder was not affected by dietary moisture level and the addition of water to the diet had no beneficial effect on the growth of sub-adult olive flounder in the summer and winter seasons.
The single node cuttings of sweet potato (cv. Mokpo #29) plantlets maintained in vitro were cultured with (MF+) or without membrane filter (MF-) under photomixotrophic (PM), hetrotrophic (HT) and autotrophic (AT) conditions. Shoot length was the greatest (11.9cm) in 3$0^{\circ}C$ (HT) treatment and it was the shortest (3.4 cm) in $25^{\circ}C$ (PM) treatment. Nodal explants cultured in 3$0^{\circ}C$ treatment looked more vigorous than those of $25^{\circ}C$ in appearance, and node number was the greatest (10.5 per plantlet) among the treatments. But plantlets grew in 3$0^{\circ}C$ (HT) treatment were observed all overgrown. The size in leaf area was about 2 times greater and shoot length was about 2 times shorter in PM than in HT condition. Percent dry matter of shoots was 5.9% (HT) and 7.4% (PM) in $25^{\circ}C$ treatment and 6.1% (HT) and 7.4% (PM) in 3$0^{\circ}C$ treatment. Plantlets cultured in the MF+ treatments were less succulent than those cultured in the MF- treatment. Vitrified plantlets were examinated 14.8% (both $25^{\circ}C$ and 3$0^{\circ}C$) in PM condition and 22.2% ($25^{\circ}C$) and 31.5% (3$0^{\circ}C$) in HT condition. Sucrose was necessary for the survival of in vitro plantlets. In the sucrose-free medium, explants cultured in the MF- had turned yellow and were dead after 30 days of culture. But explants cultured in the MF+ were alive and produced plantlets with shoot and root (AT). On the other hand, the survival of explants on the MS basal medium (sucrose-free and hormone-free) depended entirely upon the MF attachment.
According to the chlorous salt method, most of holocellulose whose lignin was removed, was obtained. In extracting xylan from holocellulose by the different densities of alkali, 5% KOH was extracted three times but still there remained part of xylan in it and another composite of hemicellulose and cellulose was obtained. The extraction of 10% and 20% KOH showed a desirable result. Rather than the ordinary method to use a large quantity of ethanol in the precipitation isolation of xylan, the method to use a small quantity of ethanol in adopting the dialysis with cellophane-membrane by condensing density to one tenth, made il possible to extract a high purity xylan in a high retrieving rate. In isolating glucomannan, the residue of 5% KOH extraction contained a large quantity of xylan, the residue of 10% and 24% KOH extraction, also showed the same result and the comparison between glucose and mannose was approximately 1 : 1. The purification of Fehling solution made it possible to obtain comparatively pure xylan but the process of oxidation dissolution was complicated and the retrieving rate was low. This was not a good method. The ethanol titration purified a high purity xylan in a high retrieving rate and was a very excellent purifying method, considering its simple and easy process. These two purifying methods, however, could not completely remove the residue of arabinose. This will be examined and reported later.
To clarify the soil N dynamics, the relationship between soil N and vegetation recovery after volcanic eruptions was investigated in two stands dominated by black locust(Robinia pseudo-acacia L.) on volcano Mt. Showa-Shinzan, northern Japan, from August 1999 to July 1996. No significant differences were observed between the two stands with respect to soil chemical properties and soil extractable N. At both stands, total N concentration were high in spring and declined through the summer and fall. The peaks in concentrations of extractable $NH_4{^+}$ and $NO_3{^-}$ occurred in July at both stands. $NH_4{^+}$ mineralization showed a conspicuous peak in June and July throughout the study period. Extractable $NO_3{^-}$ concentration and nitrification rates at the two stands during the study period were relatively high. Negative values for $NH_4{^+}$ mineralization at both stands were found in August. Extractable $NH_4{^+}$ and $NO_3{^-}$ concentrations were correlated positively with soil organic matter, and nitrification rates were controlled by $NH_4{^+}$ mineralization and extractable $NH_4{^+}$ concentration at both stands.
The forest vegetation developing on Mt. Inwang, an isolated forestland in Seoul, Korea was analyzed phytosociologically and its spatial distribution mapped out. Using the vegetation map, The characteristics of landscape structures in terms of the number and size of patches are discussed. Forest vegetation of the study area was classified into ten communities, ten groups, and eighty subgroups. Landscape element types were classified into secondary forests, relict communities, introduced plantations, and other elements including urbanized area. Pinus densiflora community, natural forest and Robinia pseudo-acacia community, plantation, formed matrix and some secondary forest elements, relict communities and the ether plantations of small size tended to distribute as small patches in such matrix. The number of patches per unit area in secondary forest elements was more than that in plantation elements. The result in patch size was vice versa. The vascular plant species richness of the landscape element types in Mt. Inwang was found to he positively related to their size. As the results of landscape ecological analyses, it was estimated that differentiation of patches recognized in community level would be related to human interference a and those in subordinate levels to natural process such as progression of succession.
The damage of citrus fruits caused by Scirtothrips dorsalis Hood has being increased in Jeju, Korea. The seasonal abundance of S. dorsalis and its injury symptoms in citrus orchards have been studied since the endemic outbreak in Jeju, but studies for the occurrence pattern of S. dorsalis in citrus orchards influenced by adjacent primary hosts have not been fully conducted yet. We selected kiwi- and mango-citrus adjacent orchards to study the migration pattern of S. dorsalis toward to citrus orchards. Yellow-colored sticky traps were used for monitoring the seasonal abundance of S. dorsalis and their migration pattern in two orchards. In citrus orchards, also, we placed sticky traps at 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 m apart from the border of kiwi orchard, and 0, 7 and 20 m apart from the border of mango orchard. The seasonal occurrence pattern of S. dorsalis caught on sticky traps were similar between two adjacent orchards. However, the abundances in kiwi or mango orchard was much higher than those of citrus. Also, it was found that densities, distribution and damage of S. dorsalis in citrus orchards depend highly on the distance from the border of kiwi and mango orchards. This result suggested that the primary hosts such as kiwi and mango plants influence the occurrence of S. dorsalis in adjacent citrus orchards. And this information may provide a basic direction for establishing the management strategy of S. dorsalis in citrus orchards.
The aim of this study is to examine the effect of the work-family conflict on the organizational citizenship behavior, to examine the mediating effect of burnout in that relation and to verify the moderating effect of proactive personality between burnout by work-family conflict and organizational citizenship behavior. For study samples, total 331 copies were collected from the members of hospitals and call centers in Daejeon, Sejong and Chungcheongnam-do and Chungcheongbuk-do. The results are as follows: firstly, it was found that, Work Interference with Family(WIF) had negative (-) effect on the organizational citizenship behavior. And, Family Interference with Work(FIW) had negative (-) effect on the organizational citizenship behavior. Secondly, there was a mediating effect of burnout between Work Interference with Family(WIF) and organizational citizenship behavior. And, there was no mediating effect of burnout between Family Interference with Work(FIW) and organizational citizenship behavior. Thirdly, proactive personality had a moderating effect between burnout due to work-family conflict and the organizational citizenship behavior. It proved that the relation between burnout due to work-family conflict and the organizational citizenship behavior through proactive personality of members concerning the negative effect of burnout caused by the work-family conflict at the workplace can be reduced by the proactive personality. It is significant in that this study proved the necessity of proactive personality of members in the work-family conflict. Therefore, more diverse personal characteristics should be considered as control variables in the future.
The purpose of this study was to enhance the quality of gochujang sauces containing Salicornia herbacea L. extracts at concentrations of 0%(C), 1%(RS-1), 2%(RS-2), and 3%(RS-3). Free sugars detected in gochujang sauce were sucrose, glucose, maltose, and fructose. pH level was not significantly different among the samples. As the contents of S. herbacea L. extracts increased, the salinity decreased. The colors of the gochujang sauce as indicated by -L, $a^{\ast\ast\ast}$, and $b^{\ast}$ values decreased as contents of gochujang sauce S. herbacea L. extracts increased. Most of the mineral contents of gochujang sauce containing S. herbacea L. extracts were higher than that of control. Overall acceptabilities of the S. herbacea L. extracts-added groups were in the order of 2%, 3%, 0%, and 1%. The 2% (RS-2) S. herbacea L. extract-added group was highly rated in general charateristics, making it the most desirable for making S. herbacea L. extract-added gochujang sauce.
