A Study on Effective Team Learning Support in Non-Face-To-Face Convergence Subjects (비대면 수업 융합교과의 효과적인 팀학습 지원에 관한 연구)

  • In a future society where cutting-edge science technology such as artificial intelligence becomes commonplace, the demand for talented people with basic knowledge of mathematics and science is expected to increase continuously, and the educational infrastructure suitable for the characteristics of future generations is still insufficient. In particular, in the case of students taking convergence courses including practical training, there was a problem in communication with the instructor. In this study, we looked at the current status of distance learning at domestic universities that came suddenly due to the global pandemic of COVID-19. In addition, a case study of the use of technology was conducted to facilitate the interaction between instructors and learners through case analysis of distance classes in convergence subjects. Therefore, this study aims to introduce the case of developing lecture contents for smooth convergence education in a non-face-to-face educational environment targeting the developed AI convergence courses and applying them to the education of enrolled students.

  • In the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, creative ideas are creating enormous value. This study conducted a case study on curriculum management plans aimed at protecting ideas and their results, recognizing the importance of intellectual property (IP), and cultivating basic knowledge about intellectual property. In particular, this study looked at ways to quickly learn related issues regarding new intellectual property rights related to computer software and artificial intelligence. In addition, research was conducted on ways to learn about efficient protection and utilization of inventions through actual examples. This study checked the importance and necessity of the interaction and communication between instructors and learners through the status of distance learning in domestic universities and a case study of distance learning of convergence subjects. We aim to continuously research effective class management methods and contribute to academic development through case studies of convergence subjects.

  • With progress of informationalization, education has been transformed from traditional uni-direction education to bi-directional and consumer-oriented education, which is performed by learner's self study and interactive education of multiple dimension between a learner and contents, between a learner and a teacher, and between a learner and a learner irrespective of space-time. According to this trend, a new education method has been required. Therefore, in this paper, we will propose real-time consumer-oriented distance education system of making interaction maximum using WBI. In this system, a learner can participate in an individual study case by multiple interaction with a learner's designing and plaining study, and also participate in group study case by way of discussion and conversation among participants.

Identification of the Structural Relationship between Goal Orientation, Teaching Presence, Approaches to Learning, Satisfaction and Academic Achievement of Online Continuing Education Learners (원격평생교육 학습자의 목표지향성, 교수실재감, 학습접근방식, 만족도 및 학업성취도 간의 구조적 관계 규명)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the structural relationships among goal orientation, teaching presence, approaches to leaning, satisfaction and academic achievement. For this study, the web survey was administered to 235 learners who participated in distance lifelong education centers of A, B, and C university in South Korea. Structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis was conducted in order to examine the causal relationships among the variables. The results indicated that first, mastery-approach goal and teaching presence had positive effects on deep approach. Second, mastery-approach goal showed negative effects on surface approach, while teaching presence did not. Third, deep approach had positive effects on satisfaction, Fourth, surface approach had negative effects on satisfaction. Fifth, deep approach showed positive effects. Last, surface approach showed negative effects on academic achievement. Based on the result of the research, the study propose the constructive foundation for providing strategies raising the satisfaction and academic achievement in distance life-long education.

Design and Implementation of Distance Learner's Attendance Checking System Based on PC Camera (PC 카메라 기반 원격교육 학습자 출석 확인 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • A distance learning is diffusing rapidly in society. It is more difficult to confirm a learner's identity and learning processing in a distance learning. Distance learning has a checking attendance system because a teacher and student do not meet face to face. There are some checking attendance systems such as login check, SMS authenticating system, unexpected quiz, and so on. However, existing checking attendance system has some problems to check learner's attendance in a whole lesson. Therefore, this study designed and developed learner's attendance system based on PC camera's shot of certification in a whole lesson. This attendance checking system can judge real attendance of learners in a distance learning and distance evaluation. The system is expected to make trust of a distance learning higher.

The Effects of Grit, Goal Perception, Academic Work-Family Conflict and Social Support on Academic Adjustment among Female Adult Learners in a Distance University (원격대학 여성 성인학습자들의 끈기(Grit)와 목표인식, 학업-가정갈등 및 사회적 지지가 학업적응에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the relationship of grit, goal perception and academic adjustment of adult female students in a distance university. We additionally investigated how academic work-family conflict and social support influenced the grit-adjustment relationship. Grit is defined as passion and perseverance for long-term goals and it has been known as one of the predictors of adjustment indicators including academic achievement. A total of 642 female students in a distance university were participated in the survey and a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was utilized for data analysis. Results showed that our model fit data well, specifically, two components of grit (i.e. consistency of interest and perseverance of effort) positively predicted academic adjustment. Results from analyses of specific indirect effects revealed that consistency of interest was found to have a positive direct effect on academic adjustment while perseverance of effort had a positive indirect effect via goal perception, suggesting the discriminant predictability of grit's two components. Lastly, academic work-family conflict was found to negatively predict academic adjustment while social support predicted a positive academic adjustment via goal perception.

  • The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic made it necessary for medical schools to restructure their curriculum by switching from face-to-face instruction to various forms of flexible learning. Flexible learning is a student-centered approach to learning that has received interest in many educational sectors. It is a critical strategy for expanding access to higher education during the pandemic. As flexible learning includes online, blended, hybrid, and hyflex learning options, learners have the opportunity to select an instruction modality based on their needs and interests. The shift to flexible learning in medical education took place rapidly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and learners, instructors, and schools were not prepared for this instructional change. Through the lens of the technology acceptance model, human agency, and a social constructivist perspective, I examine students, instructors, and educational institutions' roles in successfully navigating the digital transformation era. The pandemic has also accelerated the use of advanced information and communication technologies, such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, in learning. Through a review of the literature, this paper aimed to reflect on current flexible learning practices from the instructional design and educational technology perspective and explore emerging technologies that may be implemented in future medical education.

A Case Study of Online Practice Activities in Non-face-to-face Class - 'Introduction to Electric Circuits and Lab' Course (비대면 수업에서 온라인 실습활동의 사례- '기초전기회로 및 실습' 교과목을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to design and operate non-face-to-face online practice class in engineering education, and to explore students' perceptions and effectiveness of them. To this end, after developing and implementing a strategy for non-face-to-face online practice activities in the 'Introduction to Electric Circuits and Lab' course, the questionnaire responses of 47 learners were analyzed, and the group differences were investigated using Kruskal-Wallis test. As a result, it was found that students' perceptions of non-face-to-face online practice class were positive in terms of learning effect, learning convenience, interaction, and satisfaction. The group difference according to the face-to-face/non-face-to-face preference method was found to be higher in the group that preferred non-face-to-face class in terms of learning convenience, interaction and satisfaction. As for the group difference according to the number of questions and answers of the learners, the group who answered the question showed a higher awareness of the learning convenience and interaction than the group that did not. In addition, implications for designing a learning environment for non-face-to-face online practice classes were presented.

A Study on the Development of Liberal Education Program in University for the Activation of Beauty Talent Donation (뷰티재능기부 활성화를 위한 대학 교양교육 프로그램 개발 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop voluntary learning (talent donation) program as a liberal art lecture for students in G university to cultivate consideration towards others and community life. The title of the liberal education course that was developed was decided as "Beauty Talent Donation". The course objectives were to develop consideration for others and sociality required for community life as well as foster awareness of sharing and develop creative leaders equipped with outstanding characters through cosmetology voluntary service associated education. The final development of education contents were completed over 3 stages including preparation, development, and supplemented development and the major components consist of understanding talent donation, beauty theories, and beauty skills. For the assessment of the learners, absolute evaluation was applied so that personal goals can be achieved through the course instead of evaluating learners' learning capabilities with relative evaluation. Accordingly, a pass or fail system was designed. The beneficiary institution of talent donation was selected based on the following conditions. It is located within a short distance from the educational institution, walking distance for the learners, easy to recruit subjects to receive the support, and accurately understands the purpose of the lecture and willing to cooperate.

Web Contents Development of Virtual Geologic Field Survey for High School Students -Focusing on the Songaksan and Jisagae area of Jeju island- (고등학교 학생을 위한 가상지질조사 웹 컨텐츠 개발 -제주도 송악산과 지삿개를 중심으로-)

  • Geologic field survey is very important for the high school students who take the courses of earth science under the 7th earth science curriculum, however actually it is very difficult for the students to survey in the field because of long time and distance, and expenses. To overcome these difficulties, this study focused on developing the web contents and teaching-learning materials for virtual geologic field survey of the Songaksan and Jisagae area, Jeju island. The developed web contents were placed into three parts; main manu, sub manu and contents to help the learners flow-chart of the program easily. To overcome the weakness of existing textual web materials, some movable images and worksheets were provided for the learners, and the web contents were designed for the learners to experience as similar as the geologic field survey may let them do.
