Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) has remarkably developed in semiconductor and nano-structure applications since early 1990. Now, the advantages of ALD process are well-known as controlling atomic-level-thickness, manipulating atomic-level-composition control, and depositing impurity-free films uniformly. These unique properties may accelerate ALD related industries and applications in various functional thin film markets. On the other hand, one of big markets, Display industry, just starts to look at the potential to adopt ALD functional films in emerging display applications, such as transparent and flexible displays. Unlike conventional ALD process strategies (good quality films and stable precursors at high deposition processes), recently major display industries have suggested the following requirements: large area equipment, reasonable throughput, low temperature process, and cost-effective functional precursors. In this talk, it will be mentioned some demands of display industries for applying ALD processes and/or functional films, in terms of emerging display technologies. In fact, the AMOLED (active matrix organic light emitting diode) Television markets are just starting at early 2013. There are a few possibilities and needs to be developing for AMOLED, Flexible and transparent Display markets. Moreover, some basic results will be shown to specify ALD display applications, including transparent conduction oxide, oxide semiconductor, passivation and barrier films.
We report the development of a gamma-ray imaging device, named Large-Area Hybrid Gamma Imager (LAHGI), featuring high imaging sensitivity and good imaging resolution over a broad energy range. A hybrid collimation method, which combines mechanical and electronic collimation, is employed for a stable imaging performance based on large-area scintillation detectors for high imaging sensitivity. The system comprises two monolithic position-sensitive NaI(Tl) scintillation detectors with a crystal area of 27 × 27 cm2 and a tungsten coded aperture mask with a modified uniformly redundant array (MURA) pattern. The performance of the system was evaluated under several source conditions. The system showed good imaging resolution (i.e., 6.0-8.9° FWHM) for the entire energy range of 59.5-1330 keV considered in the present study. It also showed very high imaging sensitivity, successfully imaging a 253 µCi 137Cs source located 15 m away in 1 min; this performance is notable considering that the dose rate at the front surface of the system, due to the existence of the 137Cs source, was only 0.003 µSv/h, which corresponds to ~3% of the background level.
Ni-rich layered oxides cathode has recently gained attention as an advanced cathode material due to their applicable energy density. However, as the Ni component in the layered site is increased, the high reactivity of Ni4+ results in parasitic reaction associated with decomposing electrolyte, which leads to a rapid decreasing the lifespan of the cell. The electrolyte additive triallyl borate (TAB) improves interfacial stability, leading to a stable cathode-electrolyte interphase (CEI) layer on the LNCM83 cathode. A multi-functionalized TAB additive can produce a uniformly distributed CEI layer via electrochemical oxidation, which implies an increase in long-term cycling performance. After 100 cycles at elevated temperature, the cell tested by 0.75 TAB retained 88.3% of its retention ratio, whereas the cell performed by TAB-free electrolyte retained 64.1% of its retention. Once the TAB additive formed CEI layers on the LNCM83 cathode, it inhibited the decomposition of carbonate-based solvents species in addition to the dissolution of transition metal components from the cathode. The addition of TAB to LNCM83 cathode material is believed to be a promising way to increase the electrochemical performance.
This study was conducted to evaluate the ecological attributes of forest types which were classified by cluster analysis in the natural forest of Mt. Odae on the basis of the vegetation data (232 sampling points) from the point-quarter sampling methods. For the classified types, the species composition was expressed by importance value to describe the stand structure and the species diversity was quantified using the Shannon's diversity index. Recognized forest types were 1) Quercus mongolica-Pinus densiflora-Betula ermanii forest type, 2) Mixed mesophytic forest type, 3) Q. mongolica forest type, 4) B. ermanii forest type. Species diversity indices of total and overstory were highest in the Mixed mesophytic forest type (3.465 and 2.942), and lowest in the B. ermanii forest type (0.118 and 0.832). In addition to that, Q. mongolica-P. densiflora-B. ermanii forest type was calculated as 3.226 and 2.565, and Q. mongolica forest type was calculated as 2.776 and 1.218 in total and overstory, respectively. It was considered that after the P. densiflora and B. ermanii first invaded and site condition became good, Q. mongolica-P. densiflora-B. ermanii forest type was dominated by Q. mongolica. Mixed mesophytic forest type showed the most stable stand structure with various species distributed uniformly. Q. mongolica forest type would preserve the present stand status for a while, and the B. ermanii in B. ermanii forest type would be pressed by other species over time.

This work investigated the decomposition of aqueous anatoxin-a originated from cyanobacteria using an underwater dielectric barrier discharge plasma system based on a porous ceramic tube and an alternating current (AC) high voltage. Plasmatic gas generated inside the porous ceramic tube was uniformly dispersed in the form of numerous bubbles into the aqueous solution through the micro-pores of the ceramic tube, which allowed an effective contact between the plasmatic gas and the aqueous anatoxin-a solution. Effect of applied voltage, treatment time and the coexistence of nutrients such as $NO_3{^-}$, $H_2PO_4{^-}$ and glucose on the decomposition of anatoxin-a was examined. Chemical analyses of the plasma-treated anatoxin-a solution using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and ion chromatography (IC) were performed to elucidate the mineralization mechanisms. Increasing the voltage improved the anatoxin-a decomposition efficiency due to the increased discharge power, but the energy required to remove a given amount of anatoxin-a was similar, regardless of the voltage. At an applied voltage of 17.2 kV (oxygen flow rate: $1.0L\;min^{-1}$), anatoxin-a at an initial concentration of $1mg\;L^{-1}$ (volume: 0.5 L) was successfully treated within 3 min. The chemical analyses using LC-MS and IC suggested that the intermediates with molecular weights of 123~161 produced by the attack of plasma-induced reactive species on anatoxin-a molecule were further oxidized to stable compounds such as acetic acid, formic acid and oxalic acid.
The cobalt silicides were investigated for employment as a catalytic layer for a DSSC. Using an E-gun evaporation process, we prepared a sample of 100 nm-thick cobalt on a p-type Si (100) wafer. To form cobalt silicides, the samples were annealed at temperatures of $300^{\circ}C$, $500^{\circ}C$, and $700^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes in a vacuum. Four-point probe, XRD, FE-SEM, and CV analyses were used to determine the sheet resistance, phase, microstructure, and catalytic activity of the cobalt silicides. To confirm the corrosion stability, we also checked the microstructure change of the cobalt silicides after dipping into iodide electrolyte. Through the sheet resistance and XRD results, we determined that $Co_2Si$, CoSi, and $CoSi_2$ were formed successfully by annealing at $300^{\circ}C$, $500^{\circ}C$, and $700^{\circ}C$, respectively. The microstructure analysis results showed that all the cobalt silicides were formed uniformly, and CoSi and $CoSi_2$ layers were very stable even after dipping in the iodide electrolyte. The CV result showed that CoSi and $CoSi_2$ exhibit catalytic activities 67 % and 54 % that of Pt. Our results for $Co_2Si$, CoSi, and $CoSi_2$ revealed that CoSi and $CoSi_2$ could be employed as catalyst for a DSSC.
Through the electrostatic interaction between the poly-diallydimethylammonium chloride (PDDA) modified Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) and $SnO_2$ suspension in 1mM $NaNo_3$ solution, MWNT-$SnO_2$ nanocomposites (MSC) for anode electrodes of a Li-ion battery were successfully fabricated by colloidal heterocoagulation method. TEM observation showed that most of the $SnO_2$ nanoparticles were uniformly deposited on the outside surface of the MWNT. Galvanostatic charge/discharge cycling tests showed that MSC anodes exhibited higher specific capacities than bare MWNT and better cyclability than unsupported nano-$SnO_2$ anodes. Also, after 20 cycles, the MSC anode fabricated by heterocoagulation method showed more stable cycle properties than the simply mixed MSC anode. These improved electrochemical properties are attributed to the MWNT, which adsorbs the mechanical stress induced from volume change and increasing electrical conductivity of the MSC anode, and suppresses the aggregation between the $SnO_2$ nanoparticles.
The advent or high-strength steel has enabled the arch structures to be relatively light, durable and long-spanned by reducing the cross sectional area. On the other hand, the possibility of collapse may be increased due to the slender members which may cause the stability problems. The limit analysis to estimate the ultimate load is based on the concept of collapse mechanism that forms the plastic zone through the full transverse sections. So, it is not appropriate to apply it directly to the instability analysis of arch structures that are composed with compressive members. The objective of this study is to evaluate the ultimate load carrying capacity of the parabolic arch by using the elasto-plastic finite element model. As the rise to span ratio (h/L) varies from 0.0 to 0.5 with the increment of 0.05, the ultimate load has been calculated fur arch structures subjected to uniformly distributed vertical loads. Also, the disco-elasto-plastic analysis has been carried out to find the duration time until the behavior of arch begins to show the stable state when the estimated ultimate load is applied. It may be noted that the maximum ultimate lead of the parabolic arch occurs at h/L=0.2, and the appropriate ratio can be recommended between 0.2 and 0.3. Moreover, it is shown that the circular arch may be more suitable when the h/L ratio is less than 0.2, however, the parabolic arch can be suggested when the h/L ratio is greater than 0.3. The ultimate load carrying capacity of parabolic arch can be estimated by the well-known formula of kEI/L$^3$where the values of k have been reported in this study. In addition, there is no general tendency to obtain the duration time of arch structures subjected to the ultimate load in order to reach the steady state. Merely, it is observed that the duration time is the shortest when the h/L ratio is 0.1, and the longest when the h/L ratio is 0.2.
Staged combustion cycle engines are well known to have high combustion efficiencies and specific impulse. In this study, design of mixing head part of combustion chamber for 8tonf class staged combustion cycle rocket engine (ES-08) was performed. Structural stability of the mixing head part of the combustion chamber is very important design factor because it is loaded by high temperature and high pressure of fuel and oxidizer as well as by thrust load simultaneously. Uniformity of flow distributions of the propellants to the injectors is also important factor. First, a basic configuration for the ES-08 mixing head part was designed on the basis of the structural design requirements. And then, the structural analyses were performed on the basic configuration as well as some of reinforced configurations. As the structural analyses results, the most stable configuration was selected for the ES-08 mixing head part. In order to examine the uniformity of the flow distributions of the propellants through the manifold of the mixing head, flow analysis was performed based on the selected configuration. The results of the flow analysis showed that the fuel and the oxidizer were uniformly supplied to the injector.
