Recent years have seen an intensified discussion in many OECD countries about the role and mission of public research in the innovation system. This discussion takes place in quite specific national contexts, but should benefit from international experience. However, whereas voluminous literatures address the changing governance methods, organizational forms and missions of universities, much less attention has been devoted to developing a common understanding of the challenges faced by non-university public research institutions. The main goals of this paper is to contribute to clarifying the nature of these challenges, outlines possible policy answers and draws some implications for Korea. In the first section, the paper uses available internationally comparable indicators to review trends in the contribution of government research institutes (GRIs) to R&D and innovation activities. In the second section, the paper identifies the current major changes in the dynamics of innovation that may call for further adjustments in the positioning, organization and steering of public research institutes. Finally, the paper outlines some strategic objectives and orientations for the reform of public research institutes as part of the broader agenda of the Korean innovation strategy.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of 'Nomadic thought' in interior space through the understanding and interpretation of the contemporary nomadic life. The citizens in modern times lead a nomadic life on the move rather than settle down in place, and this pattern of life is going with increasing speed keeping in step with the development of the Internet. The purpose of this paper is to provide a review of the background information regarding to the impact of personal control over the physical work environment on satisfaction with work environment and creativity at work. Today creativity has a significant and special place in business especially in innovative organizations which need creative people to generate new, and useful ideas for produce new products, services, work methods, systems etc. Moreover the design and appearance of workspace and individual ability to control the ambient conditions of the workplace have significant effect on their behavior, satisfaction and overall outcome including creativity. So the result of this study will contribute towards enhancing the understanding of the effect of office design to enhance employees' creativity.

RNA silencing has had a large impact on biology in general, as well as on our understanding of plant-pathogen interactions, especially interactions between plants and viruses. While most of what we know about the mechanism of RNA silencing was deduced in the last 12 years, many of the interactions between plants and viruses, as well as virus-virus interactions in plants, which we now know are manifestations of RNA silencing, were the subject of decades of work from numerous laboratories. These laboratories were examining the nature and extent of phenomena such as recovery from infection, the formation of dark green islands resistant to re-infection, synergy between unrelated viruses and cross-protection between related viruses, all first described in the late 1920s. In this review, the relationships between these phenomena and their place in the defense mechanism we call RNA silencing will be described, to show how they are all linked.

This study examines how Latinidad can be reclaimed as a site for exploring affinities of Latinos in Latin music industry, especially from the 90s. By looking at sites where Latinidad is constituted, such as the case of Jennifer $L{\acute{o}}pez$ becoming Selena, it intends to suggest that the concept can be deployed as a political bridge to connect latinos. And by examining Cuban-American artists' self identification in Latin Grammy Awards, it reveals that the latin music business definitions of Latinidad is coded differently for them as 'Caribbean' to erase a natural resonance of Cuba. In addition, by dealing with Shakira's somewhat contradictory representation of Colombianidad, the study argues that Latinidad serves as a social construct and newly emerges as a convenient interstitial place between the Latin American and the US Latino. Shakira's case serves to show how the transnational trends of latin music contribute to create a simultaneous sense of Latinidad and Colombianidad. Focusing on the commercial significance of understanding of what latino is or should be, this paper aims to interrogate current understandings of Latinidad in the realm of latin music and popular culture.

This study aims to select eight books to see if "potential complement" is sufficiently acquired and properly used in Chinese conversation textbooks, explore the reasons and problems of learners' errors through analysis, and briefly suggest textbook compilation and teaching. Twelve criteria were established and analyzed, including the concept and format of "potential complement", layout order, location of objects, three types of forms, distinction from auxiliary verb "能" and distinction between "能+V+結果補語". Some of the results of the study are simply as follows. All eight textbooks focus only on "possibility," missing an important part of "the impact of objective conditions" that the term "potential complement" does not contain. This is certainly enough to cause confusion for learners. A poor understanding of the concept of "potential complement" results in identifying it with the possible auxiliary verb "能", and incorrect mixing because it does not know exactly what the difference is. Most of the textbooks compiled in China place a high importance on "potential complement". This means that Chinese people often use "potential complement" in real life. on the other hand relatively Korean textbooks do not deal with "potential complement" relatively importantly.

This article analyzes the relationship between Mexican writer Alfonso Reyes and the group of thinkers, writers, and critics that conformed the Ateneo de la Juventud, in order to show the reciprocal influence that existed between them. The article also considers the Ateneo's role in breaking from the old Positivist model and the acceptance of new ideas around spiritualism, youthfulness, the creation of a thinking and critical sphere, and intellectual aristocracy, among others. The relationship between the ideas of the Ateneo de la Juventud and the Mexican Revolution are discussed, as well as the social and cultural practices of dialogue and friendship, which are considered to be key to understanding the manifestations of intellectual sociability that took place at the turn of the century in Mexico and Latin America. The article also presents an overview of the role that the reading of classical texts and modern thinkers (Nietzsche, Schopenhauer, Bergson, Boutroux among others) had for ateneístas, as well as the way in which they preserved an arielista sense of a relationship between knowledge, ethics, and aesthetics as formative keys for the ideas men of their time.

The purpose of this study is to contribute to the theoretical understanding of the nature of domestic labor in relation to the capitalist economic system. In this study I adopted the reproduction of labor for the analytical term. Also I owed theoretical basis to the political economy to analyze the relation between domestic labor and capitalist economy. The family is a very important place which functions to maintain and change both the present and future labor what is called the reproduction of labor power. It also has a close relationship with the total society. The reproduction of labor power is divided by 'gender division of labor' which allocates the responsibility to one gender(women) and exempts it to another gender(men). In conclusion the domestic labor is the very basis of capitalist economy and it is also the preliminary condition to its system. SO we can fully understand the capitalist economy with the 'visible' labor part and the 'invisible' domestic labor part inc usively. And we can also understand the interrelationship between family and labor market which constitutes one economic system and fuctions in it.

The purpose of this paper is to provide a review of the background information regarding to the role of workplace on affecting people's performance. In today's industry creativity has a very special and important place because of the dynamic organizational changes and rapid growth of technology. To support these new working styles and specifically, to support creativity within an organization, flexible workplaces are often suggested. Since open-plan office offers more flexibility when compared to completely closed and private ones, they are seen to have more capabilities and are highly valued in today's industry. So the result of this study will contribute towards enhancing the understanding of the effect office design to enhance employees' performance, especially in creative tasks.

Based on ethnographic methods, the present research utilized individual interviews of 1 to 2 hours each with various probe questions to discover early stages of preparation for fatherhood. Interviews of the 12 male participants took place in naturalistic settings. Most were between 28 to 32 years of age and middle SES class. Results showed that during their wife's pregnancy expectant fathers come to terms with becoming a father; they obtain a new understanding of life and make efforts to behave desirably in society; attitudes towards their own parents change; they have a different relationship with their wife; relations with close associates change, and occupational identity changes in that feelings of responsibility for a wife and child becomes more sincere.
