This paper analyzes data on the composition, status, diversity, and distribution pattern of invasive forest undergrowth in a protected area (Khadimnagar National Park) of Northeastern Bangladesh. Assessment was done by means of stratified random sampling to diversify the invasive forest undergrowth species. For vegetation survey, 45 plots were taken randomly in ($2m{\times}2m$) circular plot from three topographical regions namely top of the hill, middle slope and plain land (15 plots from each region) and a total of 715 individuals, 22 invasive species belonging to 17 families were recorded from the study site. Among invasive species, shrubs constitute 10 species, herbs 9 species, and vines 3 species respectively. Mass number of invasive undergrowth species was grows in plain land (45.45%) followed by middle slope (31.82%). Based on the survey, invasive undergrowth plants of study areas were also categorized into three degrees of invasiveness e.g., highly invasive, moderately invasive and potentially invasive. Herbs, shrubs, and vines constitute the highest density at Chromolaema odorata (Linn.) King. (1.09), relative density at Chromolaema odorata (Linn.) King. 6.85%; highest and lowest frequency was calculated at Cassia alata L. (64.44%) and Diplazium esculentum (24.44%); for relative frequency the highest was Cassia alata L., which occupies 6.64%. Determination of the abundance of the different species revealed that Cassia alata L., constitutes (3.36) followed by Pteris cretica Wilsonii (3.14) of the area. The presence of invasive undergrowth species always reduced the number of associated species. Therefore, an extensive in-depth long-term investigation, proper policy formulation and management interventions and further study and continuous monitoring on their impacts need to be triggered targeting the control of the invasive undergrowth species of this protected area. In this aspect, national and international organization could help to conserve its biodiversity.

The negative impact of monoculture rubber plantations on biodiversity and associated ecological processes/ecosystem services has led to suggestions on the use of integrated land use systems for rubber cultivation and production in order to ensure environmental sustainability. However, there is paucity of information on the effect of such integrated land use systems on the diversity and abundance of the rubber plantation undergrowth. We evaluated and compared undergrowth plant species composition, richness, abundance, diversity and interaction, in three integrated systems (Rubber-Strelitzia reginae Integrated System - RSrIS, Rubber-Podocarpus nagi Integrated System - RPnIS & Naturally Managed Rubber Plantation - NMRP) with three Rubber Monoculture Plantations (RMP1, RMP2 & RMP3) adjacent to the integrated systems, respectively, at the Investigation and Experiment Station of Tropical Crops, Danzhou, Hainan, China. Undergrowth species density was higher in the rubber monocultures than in the integrated systems except in RSrIS. Species richness and diversity were also higher in the monocultures except in NMRP. Species similarity/interaction between the monocultures and the integrated systems was highest between RMP3 and NMRP. The NRMP proved to be the best model of natural rubber integrated system for the conservation of undergrowth species richness, diversity and interspecific interaction. However, the conservation of undergrowth species in other forms of integrated natural systems can be enhanced by considering the ecology of species to be integrated in terms of their growth characteristics, competitive nature, and ability to grow in association with other species.
This study was conducted to evaluate the healing potential of hydroxyapatite and demineralized freeze dried bone in 5 dogs. Chronic periodontitis was induced by ligating elastic wire randomized as follows. The group in which only flap operation was performed was used as control. The group in which flap operation using nonresorbable nonporous hydroxyapatite (Orthomatrix)was performed was used as experimental I. The group which flap operation using resorbable porous hydroxyapatite (Biocoral) was performed as experimental II. The group in which flap operation using demineralized freeze-dried bone was performed was used as experimental III. Thereafter dogs serially sacrificed at the 1,2,4 and 8 weeks and the specimens were prepared, and stained with Hematoxilin-Eosin stain for the light microscopic evaluation. The results of the this study were as follows : 1. Control group : progressive inflammatory cell infiltration till 4 weeks and epithelial undergrowth. 2. Group I. : epithelial undergrowth and new bone formed with fibrous margin around HA granule. 3. Group II. : no epithelial undergrowth and direct bone formation at the porous granule 4. Group III. : could not see epithelial undergrowth but obviously new cementum formation.
Habit type classification based on the polyclimax and discontinuum concept applied to Mt. Kasan forest. The results obtained were summirized as follows. 1. PIDE/RHSC H.T. : Pizzas densiflora is a topographic climax which is distributed in a ridge and a upper slope. Rhododeudron schlippenbachii is well represented in the undergrowth (average coverage 21%). 2. CALA/CAAR H.T. : Carpinus laxiflora is distributed in a low slope and adjoined to Pinzrs densiflora of a upper slope and a ridge. Calamaglotis aruredinacea is well represented in the undergrowth (average coverage 10%). 3. QUMO/CAHU H.T. : Quercus mongolica is a topographic climax which is distributed in a upper slope and a midslope of the Kasan fort outside and ranged from 600m to 700m, Carex humilis is well represented in the undergrowth (average coverage 21%). 4. QUMO/CAAR H.T. : Qreercus moragolica is distributed in the basin of Mt. Kasan fort inside and ranged from 700m to 870m, Cdlamagrotis arundinacea is abundant in the undergrowth(average coverage 43%). 5. FRRH/IMTE H.T. : Fraxinus rhynchophilla is distributed in a valley. Impatiens textori is well represented in the undergrowth(average coveraged 10%). 6. COCO/VISA H.T. : Cornus controversa is distributed in a valley and aranged from 780m to 830m Viburunum sargentii is well represented in the undergrowth(average coverage 12%).

Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park is one of the Long-term Ecological Research Site in Indonesia. In the late 1997, the fires have burnt and destroyed nearly 300 ha forest in this park. and G. Masigit was the largest burnt area (250 ha) of nine locations of hot spot recognized. Undergrowth vegetation got the most severe impacts. Almost undergrowth vegetation in various location were totally burnt. However, within three months following burning new seedlings such as Omalanthus populneus, Macaranga, Trema orientalis and Eupatorium appeared in the forest floor- The number of mycoflora recorded in burnt forest was interestingly increased in post forest fires site. Forest fires in G. Masigit had also affected the wild life population and diversity. For example, the number of bird species and the number of soil insects in burnt forest was significantly reduced. The forest fires had also great impact on soil. such as on soil organic contents, bulk density, colour, consistency, permeability and the activity of soil microorganisms.
The plant communities of the eastern ridge in Mt. Cheonma, Central Korea, Quercus mongolica, Q mongolica-Acer pseudo-sieboldianum, and Q. mongolica-Rhododendron schlippenbachii communities in the northern slope and Q. variabilis and Q. cutissima communities in the southern slope were detected by Zurich-Montpellier method. The undergrowth of Q mongolica community in the northern slope was dominated by Ainsliaea acerifolia, Carex siderosticta, Astilbe chinensis var. davidii, Heloniopsis orientalis, Pseudostellaria palibiniana, ranging 3.3 to 2.2 in dominance-sociability, while the those of Q variabilis and Q acutissima in the southern slope were dominated by Spodiopogon cotulifer, Artemisia keiskeana, Carex humilis, Atractylodes japonica, Lysimachia clethroides and Disporum smilacinum with similar degree in dominance-sociability to that of Q mongolica community. The two communities were considered as regenerating forest after severe disturbance judging by their age structure. The relationship between Shannon's diversity index (H') and Simpson's dominance index (i) was in reciprocal proportion in both two communities. The Q. mongolica and Q. variabilis communities were showed 13 and 12 m respectively. Seasonal changes of undergrowth coverage in the two communities were seemed to be affected especially with soil moisture among environmental factors such as temperature, light intensity, relative humidity and organic matter.

In the process of assessing the children with anterior crossbite in early mixed dentition, it has frequently been detected that the stronger the skeletal pattern of the malocclusion is, the more markedly delayed the development and eruption of maxillary teeth are. If the anteroposterior characteristics of craniofacial skeleton has any relationship with dental maturation, the evaluation of dental development and eruption was thought to be able to contribute to early diagnosis of crossbite in children. This study was performed for the purpose of elucidating the relationship between dental maturation of maxillary teeth and some cephalometric values in children with anterior crossbite of maxillary undergrowth type in early mixed dentition. Among the children in Hellman dental age IIA and IIC who attended the Pediatric Dental Clinic of Pusan National University Hospital with orthodontic problems, cases with Class III malocclusion were classified and 50 cases of maxillary undergrowth type and type with normal maxilla respectively were randomly selected and studied as subjects. From their lateral cephalographs and panoramic radiographs, their anteroposterior skeletal features, the dental maturity and eruption rate were obtained of each group and data were analyzed to yield the results as follows: 1. Comparing the maturity of maxillary teeth of both groups, only the first molars of maxillary undergrowth group showed significantly slower development and eruption (p<0.05). 2. There was high correlation between maturation of maxillary 1st molar and chronological age(p<0.05). 3. Among the parameters of anteroposterior relationship of skeletal pattern in maxilla and mandible. Wits was revealed as a useful index to predict both the calcification and eruption rate of the 1st molars whereas SNA was to eruption rate(p<0.05).
1. Stafford's Cave, named by the miners because a former visitor, Mr. Stafford, broke his leg in it, is the most northern of the three caves. The entrance lies concealed in the undergrowth, but is otherwise wide and open. A steep conical shaft leads down for a depth of about 80 ft from the floor of the cave; at the bottom, rammed in between the two walls, lies a great block of limestone below which a rivulet streams forth, flowing through the cave, which runs from east; in the cave it is joined by a little tributary.(omitted)
The patient, 11 yeats old male was examined for routine oral health care. He had been hospitalized for treatment of nephritis. Hos physical condition os mental retarded & undergrowth state. In oral examination, notch on cutting edge and screw-driver shaped crown of maxillary central incisors, narrow crown and dwarfed & pinched occlusal surface of lower first molars and scars(rhagades) on the angle of the lip were shown. We diagnosed the above symptoms as dental defects of congenital syphilis; Huchinson's inscisors and mulberry molar.

Achondroplasia is characterized by undergrowth of long bones and cartilages and by low height. The name of this disease had been called classical chondrodystrophy, dyschondroplasia, chondrodystrophy and micromelia before Parrot reported the term of this disease as Achondroplasia. We are reporting in this paper on an 3-year and 4-month-old boy with achondroplasia. The dental findings are as follows: 1. Open bite and relatively mandibular prognathism were observed in the front teeth. 2. The size, number, shape, structure of the teeth were usual and the tongue was a little bigger than the normal. 3. The metacarpal bones were short and broadening. Mesial, distal border of the prox. phalanges were irregular and also trabecular pattern was abnormal in the hand-wrist P-A view. 4. According to lat. cephalometric analysis, the cranial basis was underdeveloped.
