The theoretical membrane gas absorption module treatments in a hollow fiber gas-liquid membrane contactor using Happel's free surface model were obtained under countercurrent-flow operations. The analytical solutions were obtained using the separated variable method with an orthogonal expansion technique extended in power series. The $CO_2$ concentration in the liquid absorbent, total absorption rate and absorption efficiency were calculated theoretically and experimentally with the liquid absorbent flow rate, gas feed flow rate and initial $CO_2$ concentration in the gas feed as parameters. The improvements in device performance under countercurrent-flow operations to increase the absorption efficiency in a carbon dioxide and nitrogen gas feed mixture using a pure water liquid absorbent were achieved and compared with those in the concurrent-flow operation. Both good qualitative and quantitative agreements were achieved between the experimental results and theoretical predictions for countercurrent flow in a hollow fiber gas-liquid membrane contactor with accuracy of $6.62{\times}10^{-2}{\leq}E{\leq}8.98{\times}10^{-2}$.
In nuclear thermal-hydraulic system codes, most correlations used for vertical pipes, under downward two-phase flow, have been developed considering small pipes or pool systems. This suggests that there could be uncertainties in applying the correlations to accident scenarios involving large vertical pipes owing to the difference in the characteristics of two-phase flows, or flow conditions, between large and small pipes. In this study, we modified the Multi-dimensional Analysis of Reactor Safety KINS Standard (MARS-KS) code using correlations, such as the drift-flux model and two-phase multiplier, developed in a plant-scale air-inflow experiment conducted for a pipe of diameter 600 mm under downward two-phase flow. The results were then analyzed and compared with those based on previous correlations developed for small pipes and pool conditions. The modified code indicated a good estimation performance in two plant-scale experiments with large pipes. For the siphon-breaking experiment, the maximum errors in water flow for modified and original codes were 2.2% and 30.3%, respectively. For the air-inflow accident experiment, the original code could not predict the trend of frictional pressure gradient in two-phase flow as / increased, while the modified MARS-KS code showed a good estimation performance of the gradient with maximum error of 3.5%.
A nuclear fuel test loop(after below, FTL) is installed in the IRI of an irradiation hole in HANARO for testing the neutron irradiation characteristics and thermo hydraulic characteristics of a fuel loaded in a light water power reactor or a heavy water power reactor. There is an in-pile section(IPS) and an out-pile section(OPS) in this test loop. When HANARO is operated normally, the fuel loaded into the IPS has a nuclear reaction heat generated by a neutron irradiation. To remove the generated heat and to maintain the operation conditions of the test fuel, a main cooling water system(MCWS) is installed in the OPS of the FTL. The MCWS is composed of a main cooler, a pressurizer, two circulation pumps, a main heater, an interconnection pipe line and instruments. The interconnection pipeline is a closed loop which is connected to an inlet and an outlet of the IPS respectively. The MCWS is under a cold function test during a start-up period. This paper describes the system flow network analysis results of the flow control of a main cooling water system in the HANARO fuel test loop. It was confirmed through the results that the flow was met the system design requirements.
The interference of water vapor on the chemical ionization (CI) of hydroxyl radicals (OH) by sulfur hexafluoride ion ($SF_6{^-}$) was investigated using a flow tube system coupled to a high-pressure CI mass spectrometer. Water vapor, which is required to study heterogeneous reactions of OH under real tropospheric conditions, transforms the reagent ion $SF_6{^-}$ into $SF_4O^-$ and $F^-(HF)_n$, resulting in a substantial loss in CI sensitivity. Therefore, under humid conditions, peaks corresponding to OH are drastically diminished, while those corresponding to OH-water complex ions ($[OH(H_2O)_n]^-$) are enhanced. $[OH(H_2O)_3]^-$ was observed as the major OH species. The obsercation of $[OH(H_2O)_n]^-$ by isolating humid conditions to the CI region and preliminary ab initio calculations suggested that $[OH(H_2O)_n]^-$ ions were produced from reactions between OH ions ($OH^-$) and water molecules. An additional helium buffer flow introduced into the CI region reduced loss of the reagent ion and resulted in a partial recovery of OH peak intensities under humid conditions.
Many kinds of generation systems have been developed to use ocean energy. Among these, with the use of an oscillating water column (OWC) for power generation is attracting attention. The OWC-type wave power generation system converts wave energy into electricity by operating a generator turbine with the oscillating water level in a column of water. There are two ways to convert wave power into electricity using an OWC. One uses a cross-flow turbine using the water level inside the OWC. The other method uses the flow of air in a Wells turbine, which depends on the water level. An experiment was carried out using a 2-D wave tank in order to minimize the number of empirical tests. The design factors were taken from Koo et al. (2012) and the experimental environment assumed by free surface motion. This paper deals with characteristics of two types of wave energy conversion systems combine with a breakwater. One model uses an air-driven Wells turbine and a cross-flow water turbine. The other type uses a cross-flow water turbine. Wave energy converters with OWCs have mostly been studied using air-driven Wells turbines. The efficiency of the cross-flow turbine was about 15% higher than that of the other model, and the water level of the OWC internal chamber for the cross-flow water turbine and air-driven Wells turbine was less than about 40% lower than the one using only the cross-flow water turbine.
It follows in quality and sewage exclusion method of the investigation objective sector and the Combined Sewer Overflows which is suitable in regional characteristics and the confluence area against the rainfall initially a flow and the medulla and measurement - it analyzes the initial rainfall outflow possibility control plan which is suitable in the domestic actual condition and it proposes the monitor ring plan for the long-term flow and pollution load data accumulation. From the research which it sees the Infiltration water/Influent water and CSOs investigation it passes by the phase of hazard chain and Namwon right time 4 it does not hold reverse under selecting, Measurement it used the hazard automatic flow joint seal Sigma 910 machine and in case 15 minute interval of the I/I, it measured a flow at case 5, 15 minute standing of the CSOs. The water quality investigation for the water leakage investigation of the I/I and the sewage from the point which is identical with flow measurement during on-the-spot inspection duration against 6 items which include the BOD sampling and an analysis, when the rainfall analysis for CSOs fundamental investigation analyzed against 18 items which include the BOD sampling. Consequently, for the optimum interpretation invasion water / inflow water of the this investigation area day average the lowest flow - water quality assessment veterinarian optimum interpretation hazard average per day - lowest flow - it averages a medulla evaluation law department one lowest flow evaluation technique and it selects, it presentation collectively from here it gets, position result with base flow analysis of invasion water / inflow water.

An electric water pump for engine cooling system has an advantage which particularly in the cold start, the use of the electric water pump saves fuel and leads to a corresponding reduction in emissions. The canned type electric water pump without mechanical sealing elements was selected to meet the requirements for operational reliability and life. However, the electric water pump for internal combustion engine generates much more heat loss than for hybrid electric vehicle since it is operated by the electric power of high current and low voltage. In this study, the fluid flow and thermal characteristics of the canned type electric water pump as an inverter integrated water pump has been investigated under the effects of heat generation. The analysis conditions such as outdoor air temperature of $125^{\circ}C$, water pump speed of 6000 rpm, coolant temperature of $106^{\circ}C$ and coolant flow rate of 120 L/min was used as a standard condition. Therefore, flow fields and temperature distribution inside the water pump were obtained. Also, we checked the feasibility of the canned type for the electric water pump in comparison with the mechanical seal type.
Narrow rectangular channels are employed in nuclear research reactors that use plate-type nuclear fuels, high heat-flux compact heat exchangers, and high-performance micro-electronics cooling systems. Two-phase flow in narrow rectangular channels is important, and it needs to be better understood because it is considerably different than that in round tubes. In this study, mechanistic models were developed for the flow regime transition criteria for various flow regimes in co-current air-water two-phase flow for vertical downward flow inside a narrow rectangular channel. The newly developed criteria were compared to a flow regime map of downward air-water two-phase flow inside a narrow rectangular channel with a 2.35-mm gap width under ambient temperature and pressure conditions. Overall, the proposed model showed good agreement with the experimental data.

For a prototype turbine operating under part load conditions, the turbine output is fluctuating strongly, leading to the power station incapable of connecting to the grid. The field test of the prototype turbine shows that the main reason is the resonance between the draft tube vortex frequency and the generator natural vibration frequency. In order to reduce the fluctuation of power output, different measures including the air admission, water admission and adding flow deflectors in the draft tube are put forward. CFD method is adopted to simulate the three-dimensional unsteady flow in the Francis turbine, to calculate pressure fluctuations in draft tube under three schemes and to compare with the field test result of the prototype turbine. Calculation results show that all the three measures can reduce the pressure pulsation amplitude in the draft tube. The method of water supply and adding flow deflector both can effectively change the frequency and avoid resonance, thus solving the output fluctuation problem. However, the method of air admission could not change the pressure fluctuation frequency.
A stable second-order finite volume method was proposed to predict sediment transport under rapidly varied flow conditions such as transcritical flow. For the use under unsteady flow conditions, a sediment transport model was coupled with shallow water equations. HLLC approximate Riemann solver based on a monotone upstream-centered schemes for conservation laws (MUSCL) reconstruction was used for the computation of the flux terms. From the comparisons of dam break flow experiments on erodible beds in one- and two-dimensional channels, good agreements were obtained when proper parameters were provided. Lastly, dam surface erosion problem by overtopped water was simulated. Overall, the numerical solutions showed reasonable results, which demonstrated that the proposed numerical scheme could provide stable and physical results in the cases of subcritical and supercritical flow conditions.
