  • Bridge is Most from stay of Gantry structures part. In compliance with oneself weight of the bridge deflecting, this occurs drops the location precision of the work tool. Also accelerative at the time of gives a serious load to Y axial motors which transfer the bridge damages. The motor with high-speed transfer of location control which is accurate makes disrupt. The malleability of the bridge to maintain consequently and necessary to minimize a weight. This paper the structural FEM interpretations of the stone and the aluminum alloy with the material by which will be used in the bridge and static deflected and a candle precise plane X-Y stage optimal design with character the interpretation result.

  • The goal of total disc replacement is to restore pain-free mobility to a diseased functional spinal unit, by replacing the degenerated disc with a mobile bearing prosthesis. SB Charite III is named commercial product as the Artificial Intervertebral Disc (AID). SB Charite III consists of sliding core and endplate made by Ultra-high Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) and cobalt chrome alloy, respectively. To evaluate the effect of von-Mises stress in AID, and three-dimensional finite element model of AID analysis was preformed for four different loading types of sliding core. Consequently, endplate was compared with a compressive preload at 400N and flexion moment at $3{\sim}9Nm4. Therefore, this research has obtained result that von-Mises stress of sliding core in AID disc by radius curvature.

  • 광 fiber를 이용한 새로운 구조의 초고속 광디스크 드라이버를 제안하였다. 기존의 광 픽 업 모듈을 레리져 다이오드, 광검출기, 렌즈 및 각종 광학계등의 무거운 부분과 GRIN렌즈 및 초경량의 PD로만 구성되는 광 헤드의 가벼운 부분으로 분리하였다. 무거운 부분은 Fixed part로 고정시키고 가벼운 부분만을 Moving part로 함으로써 광 헤드의 tracking 속도를 증가 시켰다. 또한 컴퓨터의 하드디스크 드라이버에서와 같은 초고속의 Pivot-arm tracking방식 을 채용하기 위해 Fixed part와 Moving part를 광 fiber를 이용해 접속하였으며 이 새로운 구 조에서 데이타 신호, tracking 및 focusing 에러 신호를 검출하는 메커니즘에 대해 설명하였다.

  • This paper describes a new surface finishing process which uses magnetic abrasive polishing. This is applied to automatic finishing of die & mold surface. Nowadays, most of die & mold meanufaturing procedures have been automated by the introduction of NC machine tool and CAD/CAM system. But the surface finishing of die & mold must be done by hand work of well-skilled workers. Though many attempts were tried in the past 15 years to eliminate this hand work, the automatic finishing of die & mold surface with 3D curvature has not been achieved yet. New magnetic abrasive finishing process is thought as one of the possible methods for the automation of 3D surface finishing. In order to improve the grindability of the method, ultra-high speed and 5-axis machining was introduce. The magnetic abrasive polishing which has adopted these methods was confirmend to improve the efficiencyof die & mold surface finishing.

  • There are many difficulties in automatic polishing for die & mold surfaces. Even though the process has been studied in the past 15 years, it has not been achieved yet, but by the process of actual hand work of well-skilled workers. A new magentic assisted polishing process, which is one of the potential method for automation of surface finishing has been studied in the past 10 years by colleagues. The process has many merits, but on the other hand also has demerits, one being low efficiency of gridability by comparision with grinding wheel polish. Therefore, some attempts were tried to improve the grindability by adopting electropolishing, ultra-high speed milling, 5-axis controlled machine etc... most recently by collegues. This study also aims to improve the efficiency of polishing by introducing the easily-polished shape surface milling method equalizing the tool feed per tooth to the pick feed. This milling method was experimentally confirmed to have sufficient grindability to polish milled surface (with 10 .mu. mRmax surface roughness) into mirror surface (with 0.4 .mu. mRmax surface roughness).

  • A micro positioning system using piezoelectric actuators have very wide application region such as ultra-precision machine tool optical device measurement system. In order to keep a high precision displacement resolution it to useful to take a position sensor and feedback of the error. From the practical point of view high-resolution displacement sensor systems are very expensive and it is difficult to make such a sensitive sensor work properly in a poor operational environment of industry. In this study a piezo-electric micro-depth control system which does not require position sensor but piezoelectric voltage feedback has been developed. It is driven by hysteresis-considering reference input voltage calculated in advance and actuator/sensor characteristics of piezoelectric materials. From the result of experiments a fast and stable response of micro-depth control system has been achieved and an efficient technique to control the piezoelectric actuator suggested.

  • Linear motion ( LM) guides having rolling elements have been used to position precision machines accurately. For ultra-accurate Positioning control of Precision machines, the understanding of the dynamic behavior of the LM guide at the macro and/or micro scales is most critical, but the research on this subject is rare. The objective of the present research is to investigate the vibration phenomena of the LM guide where balls are used as the rolling elements. Several experiments show the nonlinear characteristics of the LM guide such as hysteresis behavior and force-dependent natural frequencies phenomena.

  • Micro electrochemical machining was investigated to machine micro internal features. This method uses a micro disk tool electrode and can easily machine micro features inside of a micro hole, which are very difficult to make by the conventional processes. In order to limit the machining area and localize the electrochemical dissolution, ultra short pulses were used as power source and a micro disk electrode with insulating layer on its surface was used as a tool electrode. By electrochemical process, internal features, such as groove array, were fabricated on the stainless steel plate.

  • As recently optical communication industry is developed, request of optical communication part is increased. Ferrule is very important part which determines transmission efficiency and quality of information in the optical communication part. Most of ferrule processes are grinding which request high processing precision. The ultra precision centerless grinding machine for ferrule grinding was designed. The centerless grinding machine is composed of the high damping bed, grinding wheel spindle unit, regulating wheel spindle unit, feeding table and dressing unit. Reliability prediction was very important for the high quality design. In this study, centerless grinding machine was predicted reliability.
