3T 자기공명영상 Fast Spin Echo (FSE)와 Ultra Short Time Echo (UTE) 펄스 시퀀스에서 가돌리늄 조영제 희석농도와 신호강도 비교 -팬텀 연구 (A Comparison Study of Signal Intensity of Gadolinium Contrast Media on Fast Spin echo and Ultra Short Time Echo Pulse Sequence at 3T MRI-Phantom Study)

  • 본 연구에서는 가돌리늄 조영제를 다양한 몰농도로 희석하여 T1 효과를 나타내는 펄스 시퀀스 중 고속스핀에코와 에코타임이 극도로 짧은 ultra short time echo에서 최대 신호 강도 분포를 나타내는 조영제 희석 몰농도를 3.0T에서 각각 알아보고자 하였다. T1 조영제인 gadoxetic acid 와 완충용액으로는 증류수, 2% agarose gel을 이용하여 다양한 몰농도로 조영제 팬텀을 제작하였다. 팬텀 제작의 정확성을 측정하기 위해 T1 이완시간 측정의 표준방식인 2D inversion recovery spine-echo 펄스시퀀스를 이용하였으며 팬텀의 중간 부의 한 개의 관상면 영상을 획득하여 T1 이완 시간을 계산하였다. 스핀에코에서는 1-2 mmol/L 조영제 몰농도에서 가장 높은 신호를 나타냈으며, ultra short time echo에서는 7 mmol/L에서 가장 큰 신호를 나타냈다. ultra short time echo 펄스 시퀀스를 이용한 조영증강 효과를 보기 위해서는 고속스핀에코 기법 보다 2-3배의 조영제 농도가 목적 장기에 유지하여야 하며 이와 관련된 조영제량 및 투여 방법의 연구가 이루어져야 한다.

  • To measure the traffic pollutants with high temporal and spatial resolution under real conditions a mobile emission laboratory (MEL) was designed and built in KIST with close-cooperation with KIMM and Yonsei university. The equipment of the mini-van provides gas phase measurements of CO, NOx, $CO_2$, THC (Total hydrocarbon) and number density & size distribution measurements of fine and ultra-fine particles by a fast mobility particle sizer (FMPS) and a condensation particle counter (CPC). The inlet sampling port above the bumper enables the chasing of different type of vehicles. This paper introduces the construction and technical details of the MEL and presents data from the car chasing experiment of diesel and CNG city bus. The dilution ratio was increased rapidly according to the chasing distance. Most particles from the diesel city bus were counted under 300 nm and the peak concentration of the particles was located between 40-60 nm. However, the most particles from the CNG city bus were nano particle counted under 50 nm.

  • Recently the use of ultra high strength steels(UHSS) in structural and safety component is rapidly increasing in the automotive industry. Furthermore, it commonly use in tailor welded blank laser welding process before hot stamping to reduce lightweight vehicle. However TWB process is to be a problem about welded strength after hot stamping because it's welded before heat treatment. Therefore, in this study, laser welds of TWB after heat treatment were analyzed for changes in the characteristics, especially the impact on the oxidation and decarburization in order to prevent pre-coated Al-Si layer welds on the properties for intensive investigation. As a result, the degradation of the TWB weldments changes in the heat treatment conditions alone, without any pre-treatment of the coating layer has confirmed that there is a limitation on the improvement. Furthermore Al-Si elements are overall distributed on the weldment and it specially concentrated along the fusion line. Hardness value of Al-Si segregation area is less than 350Hv and tensile strength showed just 78~83% compared with substrate. Accordingly, we proved that both side Al-Si coating should be removed in order to ensure the strength of the substrate.

The equipment of the mini-van provides gas phase measurements of CO, NOx, CO2 and THC (Total hydrocarbon), and number density & size distribution measurements of fine and ultra-fine particles by a fast mobility particle sizer (FMPS) and a condensation particle counter (CPC). The inlet sampling port above the bumper enables the chasing of different type of vehicles. This paper introduces the technical details of the MEL and presents data from the experiment in which a MEL chases a city bus fuelled by diesel, DME and Bio-diesel. The dilution ratio was calculated by the ratio of ambient NOx and tail-pipe NOx. Most particles from the bus fuelled by diesel were counted under 300 nm and the peak concentration of the particles was located between 30 and 60 nm. However, most particles in the exhaust of the bus fuelled by DME were nano-particles (diameter: less than 50 nm). The bus fuelled by Bio-diesel shows less particle emissions compare to diesel bus due to the presence of the oxygen in the fuel.

Attenuation of p-dimethylaminoazobenzene initiated genotoxicity and cytotoxicity in mice by the combined treatment of a traditional homeopathic remedy Chelidonium Majus 200C and vitamin-C

  • The homeopathic remedy Chelidonium majus 200C (Chel-200) is traditionally used by homeopathic practitioners in liver ailments arising out of hepatotoxicity. The present investigation was aimed at examining whether vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid or AA), used in both traditional and orthodox medicines, can show better effects when used in combination with Chel-200, in favorably modifying the toxicological effects induced by the chronic feeding of p-dimethylaminoazobenzene (p-DAB, initiator) and phenobarbital (PB, promoter) in mice for 7 days through 120 days to induce hepatotoxicity and liver tumors. Mice were euthanized at 7, 15, 30, 60, 90, and 120 days of carcinogen feeding to assess various cytogenetical, biochemical and histological changes occurring in them. In a placebo controlled study, Chel-200 or the respective placebo (Alcohol-200C or Alc, "vehicle" of homeopathic drug), was orally administered to toxicant-fed mice. Sub-groups of the mice receiving Chel-200 were also fed either AA or an Alc placebo and their individual and conjoint effects were studied against the respective controls, to evaluate if the combination therapy of Chel-200 with AA can be of additional help in the amelioration of the toxicities generated by the toxicants. The combined feeding of Chel-200 and AA appeared to reduce the cytotoxic and genotoxic effects significantly, when compared to either only the Chel-200 or AA fed group. A similar trend was also obtained in the results of scanning and transmission electron microscopic studies of the livers. Experiments in other mammalian models are warranted to confirm if these drugs in combination could be used in palliative care of human patients with liver diseases including cancer.

가축 수정란 동결보존의 최근 이용방법 (Current Application of Embryo Cryopreservation for Farm Animals)

  • This paper reviews the most important steps that have generated consistent progress in principles and developmental progress of embryo cryopreservation, and also study on freezing procedure and its application by conventional method and current improved method for freezing procedure and its appilcation of embryo cryopreservation in farm animals. Four were of particular interest: 1.The transport of water across the ccli membrane (zona pellucida) during freezing and thawing accordinglyplays a role in determing whether the celi survives. This movement of water is controlied mainly by extracellular phase changes and by the nature and concentration of any cryoprotective agent present. Therates of cooling, freezing and warming, and the intervals over which they are applied are further decisi've factors in determining whether a cryopreservation procedure allows survival after thawing. 2.The first successful deep freezing experiments with sheep morula and blastocysts during the seventies were based on the early procedures used for mouse embryos.Current research during the eighties is developed with the aim of simplifying and improving current procedures such as one-step dilution and rapid or ultra-rapid cooling by using the model of laboratory animals. 3.The conventional method for the embryo cryopreservation is described. An alternative to this method which may result in high survival and also in reducing of the freezing and thawing time is done by combing a permeable cryoprotectant such as glycerol, DMSO or propanediol and a non-permeable compound such as sucrose, trehalose, raffinose or lactose. 4.Finally a different approach to the preservation of embryos, named vitrification, is introduced. This procedure depends upon the ability of concentrated solutions of cryoprotective agents such as glycerol and propanediol to supercool to very low temperature (-196$^{\circ}C$) during rapid cooling before solidifying without formation of ice. However, more complete data are necessary for successful vitrification of blastocysts.

This paper introduces the technical details of the MEL and presents data from the car chasing experiment of diesel bus equipped with aftertreatment system. The dilution ratio was calculated by the ratio of ambient NOx and tail-pipe NOx. Most particles from the diesel bus were counted under 300 nm and the peak concentration of the particles was located between 30 and 60 nm. The total PM number emission from diesel bus equipped with DPF was 10 orders of magnitude lower compared to those emitted from base diesel bus. And the total PM number emission from diesel bus equipped with SCR was comparable to the particle emission from base diesel bus.
