  • The purpose of this paper is to identify the conceptions of middle school and high school students about visible light, Ultra violet(UV) and Infrared ray(IR). We administered questionnaire 40 people of middle school 3rd students and 43 people of high school 2nd students in Gyeonggi-do. Misconceptions about visible light, UV and Ir were observed in many students. The results of study are as follows: Firstly, Many students think that it is possible to see objects without visible light. The explanations given by students for the visiblity of objects in darkness indicates a heavy reliance on personal experiences. Secondly, we have confirmed that high school students well understand the fact that the object reflects the light. However, a significant number of students exhibited an eye-centered perspective of vision. Thirdly, students had a variety of ideas about the meaning of the term UV and IR. Analysis of questionnaire data indicates that many students believe that it is possible to see objects in the presence of UV light alone.

  • Recently, the use of UVC lamps inside building air-conditioning system has been increasing in both medical and nonmedical buildings for the control of environmental microorganisms. In the present study, irradiance performance test of UVC lamp was carried out and surface sterilization effect of UV ray was investigated by using UV ray irradiation experimental chamber and pilot system. Experimental results show that the effective irradiance of UVC lamp is strongly dependent on air velocity and temperature with exception of relative huminity in air-conditioning system. An individual microbiological kill effectiveness experiment also shows that the fractional kill of two microbiological samples such as E. Coli and Legionella is roughly the same as the estimated fractional kill in the case of chamber test and pilot system test.

  • The process of oxidizing polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based carbon fibers converts them into an infusible and non-flammable state prior to carbonization. This represents one of the most important stages in determining the mechanical properties of the final carbon fibers, but the most commonly used methods, such as thermal treatment ($200^{\circ}C$ to $300^{\circ}C$), tend to waste a great deal of process time, money, and energy. There is therefore a need to develop more advanced oxidation methods for PAN precursor fibers. In this review, we assess the viability of electron beam, gamma-ray, ultra-violet, and plasma treatments with a view to advancing these areas of research and their industrial application.

  • In this paper, we investigated the phosphor degradation characteristics on the ultra violet ray (UV) irradiation as well as ion bombardment. We propose a novel experiment method which is related with phosphor degradation causes. The phosphor deterioration experiments were made on the UV irradiation as well as ion bombardment. To carry out the experiment and compare the results, we made up the specific experimental setup. The results show that the deterioration by ion damage is more rigorous than that by vacuum ultra violet (VUV) on the phosphor efficiency.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the conceptions of middle school students and teachers about Visible-Light, Ultra-Violet(UV) and Infrared-Ray(IR). We administered questionnaire 3 teacher and 102 students(48 people of middle school 2nd students and 54 people of middle school 3rd students) who learned by 3 teachers in seoul. From the analysis, it was found that many students and teachers didn't understand the basic principle of UV and IR. Significant number of students belive that it is possible to see objects the absence of visible light. Most students belive that they can see objects in the presence of UV light alone. They think that "Light" is single concept. Teachers were generally more aware of the origin and explanation of UV. But teachers expressed some uncertainties. They tend to think negative effect for UV.

  • Attempts to isolate the naturally occurring ultra-violet resistant bacteria from environmental sources were made. The isolates, designated No.29, 100, and 107, among numbers of bacterial isolates revealed a remarkable resistance to UV ray, whose degree of resistance in dose/response kinetics was comparable to that of an endospore-former, Bacillus subtilis. In a range of 100-300 $Jm^{-2}$/min of UV irradiation, the isolates exhibited 500-1000 fold resistance compated with E. coli. The isolated appeared to possiss cell-bound pigment of organge or crimson-red. The isolate 29 is spherical in pairs or tetrads, whereas the isolates 100 and 107 are rod. All are Gram-gositive bacteria and seemed to be non-endospore-bearer. A number of biochemical studies pursued on the isolates suggested that they are quite different to each other. Electron microscopic examination and the physiological characters of the isolate 29 suggested that this UV resistant spherical bacterium might be one species of Deinococcus, probably Deinococus radiophilus. Since there is no documents on UV resistant, Gram-positive, non-sporeformer bacillus so far, the isolates 100 and 107 might be turned out as new kinds of UV resistant bacteria occurring in nature by further investigation.

  • The Sun's ray is composed of Infrared(49%), Visible light(40%) and Ultra violet(11%), however the ray getting to the earth is FIR(Far infrared; 60%), IR(Infrared; 20%), and UV(Ultra Violet; 20%). Human beings has utilized FIR already from time immemorial. Hershel found out Infrared for the first time. in the Industrial Revolution the Infrared and FIR had been begun to use making products. In these days, with contemporary science FIR would be begun to clear up the implication in the human body and organic compound. IR classified by wavelength three parts NlR, MIR, FIR. There is FIR which is radiated from healthy human body the wave length is 8-l4m. The human body is composed of proteins which get easily changed by a thermal factor (about 42 $^{\circ}$C over). FIR with low temperature can deeply penetrate on the human body composed things without troublesomes, since FIR has effectively operated on the human body at low temperature (35-40 $^{\circ}$C). When FlR penetrated on the human body. it would inhibit the abnormal genes and cells expression, and then information of DNA and RNA would be reexpressed for arranging DNA and RNA abnormal state. As FlR's receptors in the body, it could be presumed that N-glycosyl linkage of purine and deoxyribose, RNA splicing process, and Heat shock protein. To take the FIR which was a optimized wavewlength and strength, at first, we induced the characteristic algorithm and the computerized programing. Then we formed that the formular of optimized FIR with physical, mathematical logic and theory. especially, Plank, Kirchhoff, Wien, Stefan-Boltzmann's logic and law. In the long run, the formular was induced with integration mathematical, since we had to know the molecular wavelength. Based on the induced formular as above, we programmed the optimized FlR radiating computerized program. In this research, we designed the eletronic circuit f3r interfacing with human body to diagnosis and treatment with FIR sensor which radiated FIR wavelength optimized.
