  • Alkali hydrolysis of sea-island PET 0.02denier microfiber were compared to those on the fabrics of the 0.06denier microfiber. In the dissolution of the sea component out of sea island type ultra-microfiber, it is important to determine the optimum division and divided material. Weight reduction of sea island ultra-micro sea island fiber was faster than regular PET about 10 times. Also 0.2denier sea-island ultra-micro sea island fiber has better color fastness (washing, friction, and daylight) than 0.06denier level sea-island ultra-microfiber. In this study, 0.2denier ultra-micro sea island fiber shows the possibility of high value product.

  • This research aimed at scrutinizing the comparative dyeability of some disperse dyes at low temperature on ultra-microfiber polyester, islands in the sea type (0.05 denier), which has claimed utmost fastness and improved uptake of dyeing. Comparisons of dyeability, such as rate of dyeing and color depth, on ultra-microfiber polyester were evaluated by H.T. exhaust dyeing method and followed by the test of rubbing fastness. To achieve high wet fastness, some commercial disperse dyes, Terasil WW and Megacron dyes, which have been recently launched for excellent wash fastness, have been examined compared with conventional disperse dyes, C.I Disperse Red 167 and C.I Disperse Orange 30.

  • In this study, the dyeability of 0.06-denier-per-filament (dpf) ultrafine sea-island-type nylon knitted fabric was investigated and compared with that of 1.0-dpf general nylon with respect to four types of dyes. In particular, leveling, milling, half-milling, and metal-complex dyes were compared at concentrations of 0.5%, 1.0%, 2.0%, 4.0%, and 8.0% on-weight-fabric (o.w.f). In each case, staining was performed at 100 ℃. The dyeabilities of the materials were compared in terms of the depth of color as defined by the ratio of the absorption coefficient (K) to the scattering coefficient (S). Results indicated generally low K/S values for both the 0.06-dpf ultrafine sea-island-type nylon and 1.0-dpf general nylon. In terms of the dye type, the milling and half-milling dyes exhibited K/S values of ≥20 for all colors of yellow, red, and blue for the 0.06-dpf ultrafine yarn sea-island-type nylon, which were superior to those of the other dye types. Hence, the milling and half-milling dyes are considered more suitable than the other dyes. Further, a comparison of dye fastness and compatibility revealed that the half-milling dye was the most suitable dye for the 0.06-dpf ultrafine sea-island-type nylon.
