  • Rock seems to be the ultimate excellent reaction for engineering loads, and often it Is. But the term rock includes a variety of types and conditions of material, some of which are surely not excellent and some that are potentially dangerous. Therefore, It is necessary to research absorption properties by rock strength. In this aspect the present paper deals essentially with the absorption exhibited by some Gneiss and Shale relation to its point load Index and specific gravity. In order to verify the rock strength, point load tester and two types rock specimen were used. Experimental results show that the absorption properties are highly dependent on rock strength. A perspective of chemical treatment for cyanobacteria control toward sustainable freshwater development

  • One of the most threatening consequences of eutrophic freshwater reservoirs is algal blooming which typically occur after the long a mega drought or/and irregular rainfall under influence of climate change. The long-term experiences of chemical treatment are known as a most practical effort to reduce health concerns from human exposure of harmful cyanobacteria as well as to preserve ultimate freshwater resources. Even though these conventional chemical treatment methods do not completely solve the algal residue problem in water treatment plant or directly in the water bodies, they still have big advantages as fast and efficient removal process of cyanobacteria due to cheaper, easier to manage. This review summarizes their chemical treatment scenarios of the representative coagulants, pre-oxidants and algaecides composed to chemical compounds which immediately may help to manage severe cyanobacteria blooms in the summer seasons.

Fabrication of Graphene Supercapacitors for Flexible Energy Storage

  • In the present work, graphene powder was synthesized by laser scribing method. The resultant flexible light-scribed graphene is very appropriate for use in micro-supercapacitors. The effect of the laser scribing process in reducing graphene oxide (GO) was investigated. GO was synthesized using a chemical mixture of GO solution; then, it was coated onto a LightScribe DVD disk and laser scribed to reduce GO and create laser-scribed graphene (LSG). The CV curves of pristine rGO at various scan rates showed that the ultimate product possesses the ability to store energy at the supercapacitor level. Charge-discharge curves of pristine rGO at two different current densities indicated that the specific capacitance ($C_m$) increases due to the reduction of the discharge current density. Finally, the long-term charge-discharge stability of the LSG was plotted and indicates that the specific capacitance decreases very slightly from its primary capacitance of ${\sim}10F\;cm^{-3}$ and that the cyclic stability is favorable over 1000 cycles.

  • The ultimate purpose of Supply Chain Management (SCM) is maximizing the profits of the overall Supply Chain (SC) through increasing customer satisfaction and decreasing operating cost. It can be successfully accomplished only when SC system balances demands with supply activities coordinated by aggregate planning, mid-term level of Supply Chain Planning(SCP). However, the existing measures to mainly estimate the specific function of SCM are not enough to evaluate the state of SC with respect to the balance between supply and demand in operating. To solve this problem, we develop a new SC performance measure, Balancing Point, using momentum concept. a fundamental knowledge of physics. Momentum concept can explain the relation among objects so that it can consider the balance between supply and demand in SC operating. The developed measure can not only consider the current state of the SC system but also take planned but not executed supply activities and upcoming demands into account. Therefore, using Balancing point, we can be aware of the unbalanced state of SC in advance.

Experimental tests on biaxially loaded concrete-encased composite columns

  • This paper reports an experimental investigation of the behaviour of concrete-encased composite columns subjected to short-term axial load and biaxial bending. In the study, six square and four L-shaped cross section of both short and slender composite column specimens were constructed and tested to examine the load-deflection behaviour and to obtain load carrying capacities. The main variables in the tests were considered as eccentricity of applied axial load, concrete compressive strength, cross section, and slenderness effect. A theoretical procedure considering the nonlinear behaviour of the materials is proposed for determination of the behaviour of eccentrically loaded short and slender composite columns. Two approaches are taken into account to describe the flexural rigidity (EI) used in the analysis of slender composite columns. Observed failure mode and experimental and theoretical load-deflection behaviour of the specimens are presented in the paper. The composite column specimens and also some composite columns available in the literature have been analysed and found to be in good agreement with the test results.

  • The ultimate purpose of this study is as follows: The current primary concern in the defense sector revolves around how to strategically utilize Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in combat. The Fourth Industrial Revolution denotes a shift towards an environment where automation and connectivity are maximized, driven by technologies such as artificial intelligence. Coined by Klaus Schwab in the 2015 Davos Forum, this term highlights the significant role of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Particularly, the military application of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies is expected to be actively researched and implemented. Combat involves military actions between units, typically conducted as part of a larger war, with units striving to achieve one or more objectives. The concept of combat refers to the fundamental ideas of how units should engage with the enemy, both presently and in future scenarios, to achieve assigned objectives.

요양병원 간호사의 통증관리에 대한 지식, 태도, 수행정도 (Pain Management Knowledge, Attitudes, and Performance of Nurses in Long-Term Care Hospitals)

  • 목적: 본 연구는 요양병원 간호사의 통증관리 지식, 태도, 수행정도를 파악하여 추후 요양병원 통증관리 교육을 설계하는데 기초자료로 활용하고자 실시되었다. 방법: 본 연구는 4개 요양병원에서 근무하는 간호사 120명을 대상으로 한 횡단적 조사연구이다. 통증관리 지식과 통증관리 태도는 원래 연구도구는 Watt-Watson이 개발한 도구를 사용하였고, 통증관리 수행정도는 요양병원에서의 통증관리 가이드라인들을 근거로 연구자가 개발하여 사용하였다. 결과: 본 연구의 결과 통증관리 지식은 40점 만점 평균 26.2점이었다. 가장 많이 틀린 문항은 통증의 주관성에 대한 항목으로 '통증에 따르는 환자의 생리적, 행동적 반응을 보고 통증의 유무와 강도를 파악할 수 있다(89.2%)'였고, 56.7%는 내성의 증가는 마약성 진통제 중독을 의미한다고 생각하였다. 통증관리 태도와 실무에 관해서는, 80.2%가 통증을 자주 호소하는 환자에게 위약을 사용한다고 하였고, 위약사용은 간호사가 두 번째로 자주 사용하는 통증관리 방법이었다. 결론: 본 연구는 요양병원 간호사의 통증관리 지식이 낮고 태도가 부적절한 것으로 나타났고, 이는 통증관리 실무에 부정적 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 요양병원 간호사들에게 통증관리 교육, 특히 통증의 속성과 위약남용에 대한 교육이 시급하다.

요양보호사 교육의 고도화 방안에 관한 초점집단 인터뷰: 직무 및 치매교육을 중심으로 (Improving The Formal Long-Term Care Workforce Caring for the Elderly: A Focus Group Interview)

  • 노인장기요양제도의 최일선에서 서비스를 제공하는 요양보호사의 자질을 향상시키는 것은 궁극적으로 요양서비스의 질 향상에 기여한다. 이 연구는 요양보호사의 자질 향상을 위한 직무교육의 바람직한 방향을 찾기 위해 다양한 전문가와 이해당사자의 의견을 수렴하고 합의하고자 수행되었다. 연구 방법은 요양보호사와 교육운영주체 및 행정주체로 구성된 초점집단 인터뷰를 통해, 현 요양보호사 직무교육, 치매전문교육 체제 및 운영의 문제점을 도출하고 문제 인식을 공유함으로써, 현실적이고 실효성 있는 교육 개선방안을 도출하였다. 인터뷰 내용 분석 결과, 의견을 크게 '직무교육', '치매전문교육', '교육운영체제', '인력관리' 4개의 대범주로 분류하여 각 범주별 합의된 의견과 개별 의견을 제시하였다. 현장 중심의 교육내용에 대한 요구가 높았고, 실무 경험이 풍부한 강사진의 필요성을 제기하였다. 교육 기회가 확대되어야 하고, 그러기 위해서는 근무 여건 개선이 전제되어야 한다는 의견이 있었다. 교육운영체제 측면에서는 교육 주체와 교육 운영의 법적 근거가 필요하며, 정부, 요양기관 및 협회 간 역할 정립이 우선 되어야한다는 주장이 있었다. 현장 인력관리 측면에서 인력 수급 및 처우 개선 문제가 시급하다는 호소가 많았고, 처우문제는 곧 직무교육 참여에의 동기부여에 직접적인 영향을 주고 있었다.

Experimental estimate of Nγ values and corresponding settlements for square footings on finite layer of sand

  • Any structure constructed on the earth is supported by the underlying soil. Foundation is an interfacing element between superstructure and the underlying soil that transmits the loads supported by the foundation including its self weight. Foundation design requires evaluation of safe bearing capacity along with both immediate and long term settlements. Weak and compressible soils are subjected to problems related to bearing capacity and settlement. The conventional method of design of footing requires sufficient safety against failure and the settlement must be kept within the allowable limit. These requirements are dependent on the bearing capacity of soil. Thus, the estimation of load carrying capacity of footing is the most important step in the design of foundation. A number of theoretical approaches, in-situ tests and laboratory model tests are available to find out the bearing capacity of footings. The reliability of any theory can be demonstrated by comparing it with the experimental results. Results from laboratory model tests on square footings resting on sand are presented in this paper. The variation of bearing capacity of sand below a model plate footing of square shape with variation in size, depth and the effect of permissible settlement are evaluated. A steel tank of size $900mm{\times}1200mm{\times}1000mm$ is used for conducting model tests. Bearing capacity factor $N_{\gamma}$ is evaluated and is compared with Terzaghi, Meyerhof, Hansen and Vesic's $N_{\gamma}$ values. From the experimental investigations it is found that, as the depth of sand cushion below the footing ($D_{sc}$) increases, ultimate bearing capacity and settlement values show an increasing trend up to a certain depth of sand cushion.

유기성 폐자원의 최종생분해도 및 다중 분해속도 평가 (Ultimate Anaerobic Biodegradability and Multiple Decay Rate Coefficients of Organic Wastes)

  • 본 논문에서는 Graphical Statistic Analysis (GSA) 방법을 이용하여 유기성 폐자원의 최종생분해도와 다중 분해속도를 평가하였다. GSA에 의한 최종생분해도는 돈분뇨 69%, 젖소 생분뇨 45%, 도축폐기물 66%를 나타냈고 음식물류 폐기물과 음폐수는 각각 79%와 87%이었으며, 1차 슬러지와 폐활성 슬러지는 각각 68%와 39%이었다. 유기성 폐자원의 분해양상을 정확히 표현하기 위하여 사용된 다중분해속도해석(Multi k Analysis) 방법을 이용해 평가한 결과 돈분뇨는 $k_1$ ($0.116day^{-1}$)의 속도로 평균 31일 안에 전체 생분해성 유기물 중 빠르게 분해되는 분율($S_1$)인 89%가 분해되었으며, 느리게 분해되는 $S_2$의 분율은 11%로써 $k_2$ ($0.004day^{-1}$)의 속도로 남은 기간 동안 분해되었다. 젖소 생분뇨는 $k_1$ ($0.074day^{-1}$)의 속도로 평균 29일 안에 분해되었으며 $S_1$의 분율은 91%이었다. 도축폐기물과 1차 슬러지는 $k_1$ ($0.095day^{-1}$)의 같은 속도로 분해되었으며, $S_1$은 각각 89%와 85%를 보였다. 음식물류 폐기물과 음폐수는 15일의 운전기간 동안 $S_1$은 각각 89%와 93%로 기질의 대부분이 분해되었으며 $k_1$은 각각 $0.195^{-1}$$0.184^{-1}$로 대단히 빠른 속도로 분해되었다. 폐활성 슬러지는 $k_1$ ($0.054day^{-1}$)의 속도로 28일 동안 분해되었으며 $S_1$은 80%를 보였다. 따라서 Multi k Analysis 방법을 이용해 유기성 폐자원의 분해 속도와 분해 양상을 토대로 최소 HRT를 산정할 수 있으며, 본 대상시료를 활용한 바이오가스화 시설의 최적 설계인자 도출이 가능하다.
