Serologic response of normal Korean children to Pneumocystis carrinii as observed by immunoblot (면역이적법에 의한 한국 어린이의 폐포자충에 대한 항체반응 양상)

  • Soluble protein of purified Pneumocvstis cnrinii was prepared from experimentally infected rats. SDS-PAGE of the crude antigen resolved about 20 protein bands from 20 to 200 kDa. Out of thenl, 116 kDa band strongly reacted and 45-55 and 100 kDa bands reacted weakly to the positive reference human serum from U.S.A. Western blot analysis with sera of 130 normal children and 15 newborns in Korea revealed specific IgG antibody reaction to 40-55 and 116 kDa protein bands. Forty percent (40.0%) of the 145 sera were positive with any of the antigenic protein bands of R corinii. The positive rate was 56% in 50 males and 33.3% in 48 females. The protein bands 40-55 and 116 kDa from rat P. carinii were confirmed to cross-react with human sera in Korea.

Action mechanism of upstream open reading frame from S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase gene as a in vivo translational inhibitor (S-Adenosylmethionine decarboxylase 유전자의 upstream open reading frame이 in vivo에서 translational inhibitor 로서의 작용 기작)

  • S-Adenosylmethionine decarboxylase (SAMDC; EC 4.1.4.50), a key enzyme for polyamines biosynthesis, was tightly regulated for homeostatic levels. Carnation SAMDC gene (CSDC9) has an small upstream open reading frame (uORF) of 54 amino acids in 5'-leader sequence. To explore the functional mechanism of uORFs in controlling translation, we used a GUS reporter gene driven with the 35S promoter and uORF region of SAMDC gene for making transgenic tobacco plants. In our experiment, there were a translational inhibition of its downstream GUS ORF by SAMDC uORF sequence or SAMDC uORF protein. Expecially, translational inhibition was most effective in point-mutated construct, in which the start codon was changed. Therefore, this results suggested the ribosomal stalling might be involved in this translational inhibitory process. The frame shift in amino acid sequence of SAMDC uORF with start codon and stop codon resulted in a moderate increasing in GUS activity, suggesting the native amino acid sequence was important for a function as a translational inhibitor. Also, we showed that the production of GUS protein was significantly inhibited in the presence of the small uORF using histochemical analysis of GUS expression in seedlings and tobacco flowers. Importantly, the small uORF sequence induced a real peptide of 5.7 kDa, which was provided the presence of SAMDC uORF peptide band using an in vitro transcription/translation system. The peptide product of uORF might interact with other components of translational machinery as well as polyamines, which was resulted from that polyamine treatment was inhibited GUS protein band in SDS-PAGE experiment.

  • We report a unrecorded species, Da-do-sae-u-nan-cho (Calanthe ${\times}$ kibanakirishima F. Maek). It was discovered on Heuksan Island in Jeollanam Province. The species differs from C. aristulifera in the corolla color and the short, wide spur. It is also easily distinguished from the other species of Calanthe by the simple trichomes on the abaxial surface of its leaves and spur.

  • The constant .DELTA. K fatigue tests are performed in SS41 and its weldment. The LASER ISDG method is used in determination of crack opening ratio. This method is more precise than indirect measurement method, faster and easier than other direct measurement method. And obtained results are followed 1) Crack opening ratio U is proportional to fatigue crack growth rate da/dN at constant .DELTA. K 2) Fatigue crack growth rate da/dN in weldment increases in weld metal and heat affected zone, decreases in base metal as crack grows.

  • 도시바(Toshiba)는 설계 인가(DA)를 신청하기 위해 U.S. NRC 4S(Super-Safe, Small and Simple)에 대한 사전 검토를 착수했다. NRC와의 공식 회의가 DA 허가를 준비하기 위하여 네 차례 연속하여 개최되었고 4건의 기술보고서가 NRC에 제출되었다. 공식 회의에서 NRC는 소듐냉각고속로뿐만 아니라 4S 특성에 관한 많은 질의와 언급이 있었다. 본고에서는 일반적인 소듐냉각고속로에 적용되는 일반 항목들과 면허와 관련된 이슈들을 기술하였다.

  • In den letzten Jahren h ufen sich $F\ddot{a}llen$, in denen Luftpostsendungen gestohlen worden oder sonst abhanden gekommen sind. Zumeist handeltes sich urn Sendungen mit hohem Wert, oft genug urn Sendungen, die erhebliche Geldsummen oder gar Diamanten enthalten. Da nach den luftpostrechtlichen Vorschriften nur recht geringf gige $Betr\ddot{a}ge$ von der Post erstattet werden, liegt der Gedanke nahe, den Luftfrachtf hrer in Anspruch zu nehmen. Bei der $Luftpostbef\ddot{o}rderung$ liegt ein klassisches $Dreiecksverh\ddot{a}ltnis$ vor. Folgende Rechtsbeziehungen sind zu unterscheiden : (1) $Verh\ddot{a}ltnis$ zwischen dem Absender und der Post, (2) $Verh\ddot{a}ltnis$ zwischen Post und $Luftfrachtf\ddot{u}hrer$, (3) $Verh\ddot{a}ltnis$ zwischen $Gesch\ddot{a}digtern$ und $Luftfrachtf\ddot{u}hrer$, wobei der $Gesch\ddot{a}digte$ der Absender, $Empf\ddot{a}nger$ oder dinglich Berechtigte sein kann. Gegenstand der Untersuchung ist dieses zuletzt genannte $Rechtsverh\ddot{a}ltnis$. Angesichts der praktischen Bedeutung der hiermit in Zusammenhang stehenden Fragen, angesichts aber auch der Tatsache, $da{\beta}$ die auf erste Sicht umfangreiche (in - und) $ausl\ddot{a}ndische$ Literatur zuni Luftpostrecht wenig $aussagekr\ddot{a}ftig$ ist, erscheint eine genauere Untersuchung ist folgender: $Zun\ddot{a}chst$ wird die Rechtslage nach dem Warschauer Abkommen, insbesondere die Bestimmung des Art.2 Abs.2 WA, untersucht. $Ber\ddot{u}cksichtigt$ weren sodann die $\ddot{A}nderungen$ der genannten Bestimmung im Haag 1955 und Montreal 1975. Sodann wird die bislang vorliegende internationale Rechtsprechung behandelt. Dem $schlie{\beta}t$ sich die Diskussion des hier $ma{\beta}$- geblichen 52 LuftVG an. Besonderes Gewicht wird hierbei auf die Einbettung des Lufttransportrechts in das allgemeine Transportrecht gelegt. Es erscheint an der Zeit, die Vereinzelung der einzelnen Transportrechtsgebiete zu durchbrechen. Es wird sich zeigen, $da{\beta}$ aus dieser $Ber\ddot{u}cksichtigung$ anderer Transportrechtsgebiete sich eine sachgerechte $L\ddot{o}sung$ entwicklen Das Warschauer Abkommen befa t sich in seinem Art.2 Abs.2 $ausdr\ddot{u}cklich$ mit der Bef rderung von Luftpost. Die $urspr\ddot{u}ngliche$ Fassung von Warschau ist im Haag 1955 $ge\ddot{a}ndert$ worden. Eine weitere $\ddot{A}nderung$ ist in Montreal 1975 beschlossen worden.
