Temperature-Compensative Displacement Sensor based on a Pair of Fiber Bragg Gratings Attached to a Metal Band

  • This paper proposes a new temperature-compensative displacement sensor with a pair of fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) attached to the inner and outer surfaces of an elastic metal band. The sensor can be also used as a temperature sensor with high sensitivity. The FBG pair shifted Bragg wavelengths in the same direction according to changes in the temperature. However, because the pressure of the metal band shifted a pair of Bragg wavelengths in the opposite direction, the displacement sensor could compensate for the effect of the temperature change in the proposed FBG pair. Results of the experiments showed that the two FBG displacement sensors responded linearly and symmetrically with respect to the displacement, and the displacement could be obtained using the difference between the two Bragg wavelengths.

  • In noninvasive temperature measurement within body, this paper is presented temperature measurement method in security and with effect from Applicator by electromagnetic, and it is analyzed heat generation quantity or temperature rise distribution by computer simulation within body. In this paper, two-dimensional model is considered and temperature distribution produced by RF capacitive heating system is analyzed by using Finit Element Method (F.E.M). A passibility of temperature distribution control is examined based on the position and size of Applicator.

The effect of peak cladding temperature occurring during interim-dry storage on transport-induced cladding embrittlement

  • To evaluate transport-induced cladding embrittlement after interim-dry storage, ring compression tests were carried out at room temperature(RT) and 135 ℃. The ring compression test specimens were prepared by simulating the interim-dry storage conditions that include four peak cladding temperatures of 250, 300, 350 and 400 ℃, two tensile hoop stresses of 80 and 100 MPa, two hydrogen contents of 250 and 500 wt.ppm-H and a cooling rate of 0.3 ℃/min. Radial hydride fractions of the ring specimens vary depending on those interim-dry storage conditions. The RT compression tests generated lower offset strains than the 135 ℃ ones. In addition, the RT and 135 ℃ compression tests indicate that a higher peak cladding temperature, a higher tensile hoop stress and the lower hydrogen content generated a lower offset strain. Based on the embrittlement criterion of 2.0% offset strain, an allowable peak temperature during the interim-dry storage may be proposed to be less than 350 ℃ under the tensile hoop stress of 80 MPa at the terminal cool-down temperature of 135 ℃.

고강도 Fe계 합금의 고온 변형 특성 (High Temperature Deformation Behavior of Fe-base High Strength Alloys)

  • Fe-base amorphous alloy and two crystalline phases composite were fabricated. The effect of temperature and strain rate on mechanical properties was evaluated utilizing compression test. Mixture of non-crystalline and crystalline phases were found using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) tests. Based on glass transition temperature and crystallization temperature. compression tests were performed in the temperature ranging from $560^{\circ}C$ to $700^{\circ}C$ with $20^{\circ}C$ interval. Relationship between microstructure, including fracture surface morphology, and mechanical behavior was studied. The peak stress of Fe-base amorphous alloy was over 2GPa and expected to have a good wear resistance, but it is expected hard to deform because of low ductility. The peak stress and elongation of two crystalline phases composite was over 1GPa and about 20%, therefore it is possible to deform high strength wear resistant materials such as engine valve.

  • Gas sensors that operate at room temperature have been extensively studied because of sensor stability, lift time, and power consumption. To design effective room-temperature gas sensors, various nanostructures, such as nanoparticles, nanotubes, nanodomes, or nanofibers, are utilized because of their large-surface-to-volume ratio and unique surface properties. In addition, two-dimensional materials, including MoS2, SnS2, WS2, and MoSe, and ultraviolet-activated methods have been studied to develop ideal room-temperature gas sensors. Herein, a brief overview of state-of-the-art research on room-temperature gas sensors and their sensing properties, including nanostructured materials, two-dimensional materials, the ultraviolet-activated method, and ionic-activated gas sensors, is provided.

  • Phosphor particles ((Sr,Mg)2 SiO4:Eu2+ were suspended in deionized water in quartz cuvette and used for measuring liquid temperature field by using two-color-ratio method. In the temperature range of 23~77℃, it showed the relative error from 2.4% to 4% and the temperature sensitivity of 0.65 %/℃ at 30℃ and 0.95 %/℃ at 77 ℃. This performance is comparable to measurement techniques using thermographic liquid crystal or laser induced fluorescence or other thermographic phosphor particle. Among investigated potential error sources, the particle number density affected the intensity ratio and the temperature, but the effect of laser fluence was not evident.

디젤엔진에서 국소 순간 화염온도와 Soot 생성 및 산화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Local Instantaneous Flame Temperature and Soot Formation and Oxidation in a Diesel Engine)

  • The instantaneous flame temperature and soot formation and oxidation in a D. I. diesel engine are measured by using a two-color method. The proposed method based on the continuous spectral radiation from the soot particles in flames is applicable to industrial diesel engines without major modifications of their main characteristics. Measurements are performed at one location inside the combustion chamber of a D.I. diesel engine. Effects of different engine speeds and loads on flame temperature and KL factor which is an index of soot concentrations were examined. A little temperature change were observed with increasing engine speed, while increased with loads. The higher the flame temperature is, the lower the KL factor is.

SPECTRAL LINE-DEPTH RATIO AS A PRECISE EFFECTIVE TEMPERATURE AND SURFACE GRAVITY INDICATOR FOR WARM STARS

  • In order to determine the precise effective temperature and surface gravity of warm stars, all synthetic spectral lines in the wavelength range of $4000-5700{\AA}$ with T=6000-7750 K, and log g=3.5, 4.0, and 4.5 for [M/H]=0.0, $V_{rot}$=10 km $s^{-1}$, and $V_{tubl}$=2 km $s^{-1}$ were calculated using the SYNSPEC package(Hubeny, et al., 1995) and the Kurucz(1995) model. Then, the depth-ratios for all line pairs were investigated and we selected two and six depth-ratios appropriate for the surface gravity and temperature indicators, respectively. We plotted six grids with X- and Y-axes for the depth-ratios of surface gravity and temperature, respectively, for the simultaneous estimation of these two atmospheric parameters. This method was applied to the spectum of $\delta$ Scu for the determination of its temperature and surface gravity simultaneously.

연속바닥난방시스템에 대한 외기예측제어적용 연구 (Application Study on the Outdoor Air Temperature Prediction Control for Continuous Floor Heating System)

  • For the radiant floor heating system, the possibility of suboptimal prediction control was investigated by computer simulation and experiment. For this study, TRANSYS program was used and an experimental facility consisting of two rooms (3$\times$4.4$\times$2.8m) was built. The facility enabled simultaneous comparison of two different control strategies which implemented in a separate room. Results showed that outdoor air temperature prediction control was superior to the conventional outdoor air temperature compensation control for radiant floor heating system. However, more research for fine prediction of outside air temperature was required in the future.

도체접속부 열화에 대한 수명온도상승 모델 (Lifetime Temperature Rise Model for the Degradation of Electric Connections/Contacts)

  • In this study in order to find out the trends and the residual lifetime for electric connections/contacts using infrared image camera, "lifetime temperature rise model" is theoretically proposed on the base of "lifetime resistance model" and to prove this theory, experiments have been performed for various kinds of electric connections/contacts. Two suggestions have been builded up or the "lifetime temperature rise model" ; one is the linear relationship between the temperature rise $\Delta K$ and contact resistance, and the other is the functional relationship between the temperature of electric connections/contacts and the operating time which ascribed in the "lifetime resistance model". From the experimental results, measured values were quite similar to the theoretical value so that two suggestions in "lifetime temperature rise model" were appeared to be correct.
