Optimization of Process Capability Index for Economic Coalify Assurance Level (경제적인 품질보증수준확보를 위한 공정능력지수의 최적화에 관한 연구)

  • Process capability implies the qualitative capability of a process, and it is necessary to specify the process capability by quantification and to evaluate the level with the specified standardizaion. But the process capability index is currently used to evaluate the performance of quality control activity. without considering the characteristics of process structure or the economy of management. Here the researcher would like to redefine process capability and emphasize its index may be used as the measure of managerial assessment and the objective of process quality control in full consideration of the economic aspects of process characteristics. Too little or too much process capability causes a loss of or excess. The proper economic level of process capability varies to each process. The procedure of taking the optimum process capability index is derived from the expected profit function, whereas each method is studied in cases of normal process with one-sided specification and two-sided specification. In addition, the process capability index is presented as a method of quality assurance. And an example is exhibited on wrapping process of 'A' company. The results of this study are summarized at follows. First, though the norminalization of the process capability index is possible by the existing methods, the optimum process capability index can vary to the situation of each process. So, the optimum process capability index which is suggested in this dissertation should be used as the standard to assess process capability. Second, the process capability index can take its effect not just in indicating quality control or managerial records but also in the management of high qualify assurance.

  • This paper examines the effects on safety index analysis with Level II Second-Moment Method. The general two variable problem is examined by means of Cornell safety index ${\beta}c$ Rosenblueth-Esteva safety index ${\beta}_{RE}$ Rackwitz-Fiessler safety index by iterative method and Practical FOSM safety index ${\beta}_p$, which based partly on the concepts given by Paloheimo and Hannus, proposed the algorithm in this paper. The calculated examples have shown that safety index by Practical FOSM Method proposed in this paper would be similar to those in the method by Rosenblueth-Esteva or Rackwitz-Fissler and be simpler in calculation than the Rackwitz's Advanced FOSM Method, in which the iterative procedure has to be used.

Effective Index and Backup Techniques for HLR System in Mobile Networks (이동통신 HLR 시스템에서의 효과적인 색인 및 백업 기법)

  • A Home Location Register(HLR) database system manages each subscriber's location information, which continuously changes in a cellular network. For this purpose, the HLR database system provides table management, index management, and backup management facilities. In this thesis, we propose using a two-level index method for the mobile directory number(MDN) as a suitable method and a chained bucket hashing method for the electronic serial number(ESN). Both the MDN and the ESN are used as keys in the HLR database system. We also propose an efficient backup method that takes into account the characteristics of HLR database transactions. The retrieval speed and the memory usage of the two-level index method are better than those of the R-tree index method. The insertion and deletion overhead of the chained bucket hashing method is less than that of the modified linear hashing method. In the proposed backup method, we use two kinds of dirty flags in order to solve the performance degradation problem caused by frequent registration-location operations. For a million subscribers, proposed techniques support reduction of memory size(more than 62%), directory operations (2500,000 times), and backup operations(more than 80%) compared with current techniques.

  • In the paper we propose an index method for XML streaming services, where a server broadcasts XML data to a lot of clients in wireless information systems. In order to control the access and tuning time of mobile clients, the proposed method constructs the XML stream through replicating partial index intermixed with parts of data. For this purpose, we propose a two-level tree structure for separating index and XML data into two parts: replicated vs. non-replicated. We analyze the performance of the proposed method with respect to access time and tuning time. With the analysis result, we derive the optimal level value.

The State and Factors Associated with the Level of Physical Activity and Exercise in Adolescents (청소년의 신체활동 및 운동 실태와 관련 요인)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the state and factors associated with level of physical activity and exercise in adolescents. Method: The subjects in this study included 528 adolescents registered at two junior high schools and two senior high schools in J City. The data were collected between October 20 and 30, 2006. Result: The study results showed that 23.8% of the adolescents engaged in vigorous activities for at least 20 minutes, three times a week, while 3.8% of the adolescents participated in moderate activities for at least 30 minutes, five times a week. The subjective level of health was determined to be $3.51\pm.91$ points on a 5-point scale. The level of stress was $2.58\pm.83$ points on a 4-point scale. The obesity index was $4.26\pm20.84$ points. Significant correlations were found between the subjective level of health and level of stress (r=-.201, p=.000), the subjective level of health and the obesity index (r=-.135, p=.004), and between the level of stress and the obesity index (r=.107, p=.024). Conclusion: These results showed that developing a health promotion program that includes an exercise program specific to gender and level of education, individualized strategies of stress control and optimal weight control is required.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the correlation of single-number ratings for sound insulation by floor impact. As a assessment method of impact sound insulation. we selected the IIC contour of ISO, A weighted sound level. Inverse A-weighting curve and L-Index of japanese industrial standard. And we estimated the single-number ratings by application the measured data of impact sound level to each method. The results showed that the coefficients of determination between each two single-number ratings were very high (more than 0.9169). And In the condition of same assessment method, the coefficient of determination for light-weight impact sound was higher than that for heavy-weight impact sound.

Correlation between Mother's Characteristics and Biophysical Index in Obese Children (어머니의 제 특성과 비만아동의 신체생리지수와의 상관관계연구)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the correlation between mother's characteristics and obesity index, percentage of body fat, total cholesterol, and serum leptin levels in obese children. Method: Sixty two students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades were selected from two elementary schools located in the suburbs of Seoul. Mother's characteristics were collected by questionnaires. Biophysical indexes were as follows; obesity indexes were calculated by height and weight, percentages of body fat were measured by a bioelectrical impedence fatness analyzer, total cholesterol levels were measured by a Hitachi automatic analyzer, and serum leptin levels were measured by the immunoradiometric assay method. Result: The degree of mother's concern for their children's obesity showed a statistically significant positive correlation with biophysical indexes such as obesity index and serum leptin level in obese children. However, there were no significant correlations between mother's economic state, education level, occupation and biophysical indexes. Also, there were no significant correlations between mother's concern for their children's obesity and percentage of body fat, and serum cholesterol levels. Conclusion: These results indicate that mother's concern for their children's obesity is one of the most important factors in child obesity.

A New Two-Level Index Mapping Scheme for Pipelined Implementation of Multidimensional DFT (새로운 이중 색인 사상에 의한 다차원 DFT의 파이프라인 구조 개발)

  • This paper presents a new index mapping method for DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform) and its application to multidimensional DFT. Unlike conventional index mapping methods such as DIT (Decimation in Time) or DIF (Decimation in Frequency) algorithms, the proposed method is based on two levels of decomposition and it can be very efficiently used for implementing multidimensional DFT as well as 1-dimensional DFT. The proposed pipelined architecture for multidimensional DFT is very flexible so that it can lead to the best tradeoff between performance and hardware requirements. Also, it can be easily extended to higher dimensional DFTs since the number of CEs (Computational Elements) and DCs (Delay Commutators) increase only linearly with the dimension. Various implementation options based on different radices and different pipelining depths will be presented.

  • We propose some properties of fuzzy p-value and fuzzy significance level to the test statistics for the fuzzy hypotheses testing. Appling the principle of agreement index, we suggest two method for fuzzy hypothesis testing by fuzzy rejection region and fuzzy p-value with fuzzy hypothesis $H_{f,0}$.
