  • Objectives : This study aims to evaluate the add-on effect of herbal bath combined with acitretin in patients with psoriasis. Methods : We searched randomized controlled trials(RCTs) reporting the effect of herbal bath and acitretin combined treatment for psoriasis in 10 electronic databases from their inception to January 2023. Study collection, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment were performed by two independent researchers. Data synthesis and risk of bias evaluation was conducted using Revman 5.4. Results : Ten RCTs with 1,008 subjects were included. Herbal bath and acitretin combined treatment group showed higher average total effective rate than acitretin alone group(RR 1.39; 95% CI: 1.15-1.68, P=0.0006, I2 =0%). Herbal bath and additional treatments such as phototherapy(NB-UVB) and oral herbal medicine, combined with acitretin group also showed higher average total effective rate than acitretin alone group(RR 1.81; 95% CI: 1.47-2.22, P<0.00001, I2 =43%). Herbal bath and phototherapy(NB-UVB) combined with acitretin group also showed higher average total effective rate than acitretin alone group(RR 1.51; 95% CI: 1.18-1.93, P=0.0009, I2 =0%). The overall risk of bias of the included studies was unclear or of high risks. Conclusions : This review showed that the add-on of herbal bath combined with acitretin treatment could be more effective than acitretin alone treatment in patients with psoriasis. However, because of few included studies, heterogeneity between studies, and insufficient quality of included studies, further well-designed RCTs are needed to confirm the add-on effect of herbal bath on psoriasis.

  • The auto industry is demanding more ductile high-strength steel grades to build lighter and stronger car bodies. The hot-dip galvanizing problems of these new steel grades are creating a demand for an improved method to control zinc wettability. The simplest way to improve zinc wettability on industrial hot-dip galvanizing lines is to increase the strip immersion temperature at zinc bath entry for enhancing the aluminothermic reaction. However, this practice increases the reactivity due to overheating the zinc in the snout which induces the formation of brittle Fe-Zn compounds at the strip/coating interface with the formation of higher amounts of dross in the zinc bath and snout contamination. Thus, this simple practice can only be utilized for short production periods of one to two hours without deteriorating coating quality. This problem has been solved by employing a technique that allows the use of a higher and attuned strip immersion temperature at zinc bath entry while still maintaining a constantly low zinc bath temperature. This has been proven to provide the solution for both the improved wettability and a significant reduction in the amounts of dross in the zinc bath.

  • The surface appearance of chromium electrodeposit was studied by employing a pulse curr-ent plating in self-regulating high speed (SRHS) bath containing 20 g/$\ell$, K2SiF6 7.5 g/$\ell$ SrSO4 and 250 g/$\ell$ CrO3. As the pulse frequency increased, the surface appearance changed suddenly from bright a-ppearance in a direct current plating condition to gray one in the range of pulse frequency less than about 20KHz. However the bright appearance is recovered as the pulse frequen-cy exceeded 20 KHz. This phenomena seemed to be related with the preferred orientation of electrodeposits, considering the relationship between the preferred orientation of elect-rodeposits and surface appearance in a SRHS bath. Direct current plating was also applied to both Sargent and SRHS bath and investigat-ion on surface appearance was extended to the high current density of 400 A/dm2. In a Sa-rgent bath, the increase in bath temperature was necessary for bright appearance as the current density was increased within 150 A/dm2, but bright region was shown in the cons-tant temperature of 70-75$^{\circ}C$ above the current density of 150A/dm2. On the other hand, two regions of surface brightness was found in a SRHS bath. One is region in the low temperature less than 25$^{\circ}C$ and the other in the moderate temperature range from 55$^{\circ}C$ to 65$^{\circ}C$.

  • This study was conducted in order to determine the effect of Paraffin Therapy on release of pain, skin temperature and range of motion with joint diseases. This study was performed on 42 patients with general joint diseases and 21 patients with degenerative joint diseases. All the subjects were randomly assigned to three groups with 21 each. The experiment had been done from June, 1. 2002 to September, 30. 2002, in two general hospitals and a social welfare center using Digital Thermometer Kane-May KM330 and VAS(visual analogue scale). Each pint was measured in terms of skin temperature, pain scale and ROM(range of motion). The results of the experiment are as follows : 1. In application of three different heat modalities (Paraffin bath, Infra red, Hydro pack) on the Knee, Ankle, Elbow pints of the subjects for 30 minutes, the elevation of skin temperature and the reduction of pain scale were found to be significantly different. When checked right after the 30 minutes' application, the Infra red resulted in a higher degree elevation of skin temperature than two other modalities, while Paraffin bath resulted in the highest degree of the elevation of skin temperature when it was checked one hour after the application was over. It means that Paraffin bath lasted longer than the other two modalities(F=14.691, p<.000). 2. With Paraffin bath application, pint pain was reduced significantly both in 30 minutes and one hour checks(F=20.675, p<.001). 3. In terms of ROM(range of motion) increase, didn't seem to have any significant differences in 30 minutes and one hour. The results suggest that Paraffin therapy be helpful in maximizing th effects on pint diseases. I strongly suggest that further studies be done on other pints and muscle diseases using Paraffin bath in different methods of applying the therapy.

  • PURPOSE. This study evaluated the dimensional stability of a complete-arch prosthesis processed by conventional method in water bath or microwave energy and polymerized by two different curing cycles. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Forty maxillary complete-arch prostheses were randomly divided into four groups (n = 10): MW1 - acrylic resin cured by one microwave cycle; MW2 - acrylic resin cured by two microwave cycles: WB1 - conventional acrylic resin polymerized using one curing cycle in a water bath; WB2 - conventional acrylic resin polymerized using two curing cycles in a water bath. For evaluation of dimensional stability, occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) and area of contact points were measured in two different measurement times: before and after the polymerization method. A digital caliper was used for OVD measurement. Occlusal contact registration strips were used between maxillary and mandibular dentures to measure the contact points. The images were measured using the software IpWin32, and the differences before and after the polymerization methods were calculated. The data were statistically analyzed using the one-way ANOVA and Tukey test (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. The results demonstrated significant statistical differences for OVD between different measurement times for all groups. MW1 presented the highest OVD values, while WB2 had the lowest OVD values (P<.05). No statistical differences were found for area of contact points among the groups (P=.7150). CONCLUSION. The conventional acrylic resin polymerized using two curing cycles in a water bath led to less difference in OVD of complete-arch prosthesis.

  • A series of microporous PVDF membranes were prepared by isothermal immersionprecipitation of PVDF/TEP casting dopes in both soft and harsh coagulation baths. Morphologies of the membranes' top surfaces were found to depend strongly on the bath strength, which could be controlled by the TEP content in the bath. By changing the bath gradually from pure water to 70% TEP, the top surface evolved from a dense skin-like (asymmetric) to a totally open porous morphology (symmetric). The latter structure could similarly be obtained by precipitation of the same dope in an alcoholic bath, e.g., 1-butanol. Membrane distillation processes to desalt sodium chloride aqueous solutions were conducted using various prepared membranes and two commercial microporous membranes, PTFE (Toyo, Japan, code: J020A330R) and PVDF (GE, USA, code: YMJWSP3001). The permeation fluxes were compared and correlated with the morphologies of the tested membranes.

  • In this study, we show the maximum cavity radius prediction model that a droplet impacts an inclined bath. Surface tensions, viscosities, inclination angles of a bottom substrate, droplet diameters, falling heights of the droplet are varied for the experiment. We experimentally observe that the cavity grows in hemispherical shape like the cavity formed in a deep bath although the depth of the bath is non-uniform due to an inclined bottom substrate. We derive two theoretical models to predict the experimental results of the fully developed cavity. Although each model has error, we observe that qualitatively theoretical model predicts the trend of experiment results well.

  • Old people and patients with cardiovascular disease could die of a heart attack in the bath with heated water for a long time. Various researches have been studied to prevent these accidents from happening such as measuring the ECG signal when taking bath. However, these devices are hard to use and the higher price is not easily accepted by the public. In this paper, a low-cost and use-friendly, real time high precision water temperature monitoring device to prevent heart attack in the bath was developed. The device with waterproof design that lets the device can float on the surface of the water, and an accurate way to make water temperature measurement method was proposed by this paper that is immerging the sensor into water with 4cm depth to measure the temperature of underwater. The manufactured device was conducted to two experiments; one was to verify the basic functions of the device, and another one was for compare the proposed device with commercial products for monitoring the water temperature in the bathtub. As the experimental results shown, the proposed device has stable performance for the water temperature measurement and communicating with laptop in wireless.

  • In this study, the dyeability of m-aramid fabric with various cationic dyes using two bath two step dyeing method were investigated. The exhaustion properties of Doracryl series recommend for aramid(Doracryl® Red GL 100%(DR), Doracryl® Blue GL 300%(DB), Doracryl® Yellow XGRL 200%(DY)) and commercial cationic Synocryl series(Synocryl® Red GRL ED(SR), Synocryl® Blue GSL ED(SB), Synocryl® Yellow 3RL ED(SY)) for acrylic were measured by using Dye-O-meter. In the presence of carrier, the exhaustions of Doracryl series were higher to those of Synocryl series and the opposite phenomenon was observed in the absence of carrier. And the severe migrations of cationic dyes to acetate, nylon and wool fabrics were observed without carrier.
