The objective of this work is to reduce drag on a bluff body within a viscous flow by applying suction or injection of fluid along the surface of the body. In addition to minimizing drag, the optimal solution tends to reduce boundary layer separation and flow recirculation. When discretized by finite elements, the optimal control problem can be posed as a large-scale nonlinearly-constrained optimization problem. The constraints correspond to the discretized form of the Navier-Stokes equations. Unfortunately, solving such large-scale problems directly is essentially intractable. We developed several Sequential Quadratic Programming methods that are tailored to the structure of the control problem. Example problems of laminar flow around an infinite cylinder in two dimensions are solved to demonstrate the methodology. We use these optimal control techniques to study the influence of number of suction/injection holes and location of holes on the resulting optimized flow. We compare the proposed SQP methods against one another, as well as against available methods from the literature, from the point of view of efficiency and robustness. The most efficient of the proposed methods is two orders of magnitude faster than existing methods.
The purpose of this study is to compare the webcasting and television from the perspective of genres. It adopted the niche theory in analyzing them, avoiding simply comparing the collective average of the two media's gratification. As a result, television turned out to expand broader at niche breadth than the Webcasting and thus presented more diverse functions thar the Webcasting. The niche overlap was investigated with the average of overlapping values. The competition between the two media was rather eased in dimensions of education, culture, and entertainment. And in terms of competitive superiority, the music service sector was the only function that the Webcasting had superiority to television. Upon the results, the Webcasting was absolutely inferior to television in a whole sense. But one thing which requires consideration is that the Webcasting will have functional mergers among genres and thus develop different functions from the corresponding ones of television.
Background: Mandibular motion tracking system (ManMoS) has been developed for orthognathic surgery. This article aimed to introduce the ManMoS and to examine the accuracy of this system. Methods: Skeletal and dental models are reconstructed in a virtual space from the DICOM data of three-dimensional computed tomography (3D-CT) recording and the STL data of 3D scanning, respectively. The ManMoS uniquely integrates the virtual dento-skeletal model with the real motion of the dental cast mounted on the simulator, using the reference splint. Positional change of the dental cast is tracked by using the 3D motion tracking equipment and reflects on the jaw position of the virtual model in real time, generating the mixed-reality surgical simulation. ManMoS was applied for two clinical cases having a facial asymmetry. In order to assess the accuracy of the ManMoS, the positional change of the lower dental arch was compared between the virtual and real models. Results: With the measurement data of the real lower dental cast as a reference, measurement error for the whole simulation system was less than 0.32 mm. In ManMoS, the skeletal and dental asymmetries were adequately diagnosed in three dimensions. Jaw repositioning was simulated with priority given to the skeletal correction rather than the occlusal correction. In two cases, facial asymmetry was successfully improved while a normal occlusal relationship was reconstructed. Positional change measured in the virtual model did not differ significantly from that in the real model. Conclusions: It was suggested that the accuracy of the ManMoS was good enough for a clinical use. This surgical simulation system appears to meet clinical demands well and is an important facilitator of communication between orthodontists and surgeons.

Many experimental studies have evaluated the in-plane behavior of reinforced concrete frames in order to understand mechanisms that resist progressive collapse. The effects of transverse beams, frames and slabs often are neglected due to their probable complexities. In the present study, an experimental and numerical assessment is performed to investigate the effects of transverse beams on the collapse behavior of reinforced concrete frames. Tests were undertaken on a 3/10-scale reinforced concrete sub-assemblage, consisting of a double-span beam and two end columns within the frame plane connected to a transverse frame at the middle joint. The specimen was placed under a monotonic vertical load to simulate the progressive collapse of the frame. Alternative load paths, mechanism of formation and development of cracks and major resistance mechanisms were compared with a two-dimensional scaled specimen without a transverse beam. The results demonstrate a general enhancement in resistance mechanisms with a considerable emphasis on the flexural capacity of the transverse beam. Additionally, the role of the transverse beam in restraining the rotation of the middle joint was evident, which in turn leads to more ductile behavior. A macro-model was also developed to further investigate progressive collapse in three dimensions. Along with the validated numerical model, a parametric study was undertaken to investigate the effects of the removed column location and beam section details on the progressive collapse behavior.
External morphology and numerical taxonomy by principal component analysis and cluster analysis were investigated to understand the taxonomic relationships on the populations of Hanabusaya asiatica from 6 different habitats. Additionally H. latisepala was used as a outgroup. The distinct characters to each habitat were not present in the measurement of 21 qualitative characters except for some native individuals in the top of Mt. Sorak and Hyangrobong based on leaf shape and bracts. This results were recognized as the continuous variations of external morphology. The populations of H. latisepala and H. asiatica were identified by calyx lobe shape. The results obtained based on the principal component(PC) analysis of treated 78 OTU were divided into two groups by PC 1,2,3, and the sums of contributions for the total variance were 50.07% (PC1 22.3% , PC2 15.7%, PC3 12.0%, respectively), and six populations were not distinctly identified as illustrated in two dimensions with PC1 and PC2. In cluster analysis based on average linkage cluster analysis and Ward's method, there were similarities in the composition of clustered taxa, and each populations were not identified.
Applications in present-day mobile communication systems particularly require miniaturized dimensions and low-profiles of antenna in order to meet the mobile units. Thus, size reductions and bandwidth enhancements are becoming crucial design considerations for practical applications of microstrip antennas. The motivation of further experiments have been stepped to follow those studies for achieving compact and broadband, even multiplied operation modes, which are greatly increased with much attentions recently. To obtain broadband, single-feed, circularly polarized characteristics of microstrip antennas, a design with feed-line ought to be a factor of two. Usually, diagonally balanced-line feeds with hybrid coupler are employed to attain circular polarizations. We firstly formulated DGS (Defected Ground Structures) based operation principles of the entire microstrip components and therefore were able to derive impedance variance of feed-lines. After verifying corresponding experimental results, we targeted the frequency bands of UHF RFID (Ultra High Frequency Radio Frequency IDentification) and approximately of 0.4-2.4GHz have exhibited remarkable two resonance amplitudes as a dual band antenna. Our secondary researches were aimed to design quad band microstrip antenna which represents four resonance characteristics within the identical frequency bands as well. Microstrip patch has been meandered to lengthen the electrical paths, and the other design criteria with respecting physical parameters including radiation patterns and impedance bandwidths measurements will be described for verification. Advisable applications of these antennas can be GSM850, GSM900, GPS (L1-1575 and L2-1227) and UMTS-2110 of cellular systems, which extremely desire multiband and minimum size.

This study was conducted at seven degreasing processes in plating plants located in Seoul, Incheon, Ansan, and Taejeon areas from July 21 to august 27, 1992. This study was performed to assess the TWA exposures to trichloroethylene (TCE) and evaluate factors affecting TCE concentrations in degreasing process. Two-Point Eddy Diffusional Model suggested by Wadden et al. was employed to calculalte emission factors according to degreaser type. Results are summarized as follows. 1. The TWA exposures of the degreasing operators ranged from 1.4 ppm to 123 ppm, and those of three plants out of seven were exceeding 50 ppm of both the Korean and U.S. OSHA standards. Degreasing assistant of Plant B, was exposed to 59 ppm. 2. The average concentrations at the distance 0, 1.5, 3.0 m from the degreasers were 1.014, 24, and 18 ppm, respectively, and showed a signifficant difference by distance (p<0.01). 3. The emission of TCE was reduced by installing local exhaust systems, condensers, and refrigeration lines at the degreasers (p<0.01). 4. The major factors related to exposure of operators were workload (r=.9621. p<0.01) and dimensions of degreansing room(r=-.8667, p<0.05). 5. If the air in degreasing room is mixed violently by other factors in addition to diffusion, the emission factors can not be evaluated because the important hypothesis of the Two-Point Eddy Diffusional Model can not be accepted. 6. The ultrasonic degreaser without the local exhaust ststem, condenser, and refrigeration lines emitted TCE three times greater than the ultrasonic degreaser with condenser and refrigeration 1ines only.

The authors carried out an experiment to find out the response of filefish, Navodon modestus (Gunther), to the colored nets. The experimental tank of dimensions 360L$\times$50W$\times$55H cm was set up in a dark room. Six longitudinal sections, each being 60cm intervals, are marked in the tank to observe locations of the fishes. The depth of water in the tank was 50 cm. Two light bulbs of 30 W, placed at the both ends of the tank, projected the light horizontally into the tank. Two different colored nets selected from seven colors(white, black, gray, red, green, blue, and yellow) were placed 60 cm distance from each side of the tank. The fishes were acclimatized in the dark for 60 minutes before they were employed in the experiment. After the light was turned on, the number of fish in each section of the tank was counted for an hour in every 2 minutes into interval, the mean value of fishes in each section was used as the distribution rate of the fish. The order of colors disliked by fishes was found to be white, red, green, black, blue, yellow and gray. The distribution rate of fish in front of colored net shows a decreasing tendency as the lapse of illumination time increases.

This study examines whether CSR (corporate social responsibility) activities of the public sector affect on its corporate evaluation in their perspective of consumers. Both public and private sectors are being encouraged to conduct the CSR activities in the four dimensions of economic, legal, ethical, and philanthropic responsibility. While many previous studies have examined the relationship between CSR and corporate's business performance, these studies focus on the private companies, not the public sector. In this paper, we offer a consumer-side study about the effect of CSR on the corporate evaluation on the public sector. The purpose of this study is to understand the effect of fit of CSR activity, perceived engagement, and perceived authenticity on the consumer's corporate evaluation of the public sector. We conducted two quasi-experiments involving 223 respondents using the actual CSR cases of two Korean public sectors. As a result, consumer's perception of engagement and authenticity about the CSR of public sector affects the corporate evaluation in a positive way. The 3-way interaction effect among fit of CSR activity, perceived engagement, and perceived authenticity was significant in corporate evaluation. To achieve successful CSR of the public sector, the public organizations need to increase the communication with their consumers and to implement the strategic CSR activities which can improve the consumer's perception of authenticity about CSR.
This study aims at observing the coupling behaviours between suspended ceilings and partition walls in terms of their global seismic performance using full-scale shake table tests. The suspended ceilings with planar dimensions of $6.0m{\times}3.6m$ were tested with two types of panels: acoustic lay-in and metal clip-on panels. They were further categorized as seismic-braced, seismic-unbraced, and non-seismic installations. Also, two configurations of 2.7 m high partition wall specimens, with C-shape and I-shape in the plane layouts, were tested. In total, seven ceiling-partition-coupling (CPC) specimens were tested utilizing a unidirectional seismic simulator. The test results indicate that the damage patterns of the tested CPC systems included failure of the ceiling grids, shearing-off of the wall top railing, and, most destructively, numerous partial detachments and falling of the ceiling panels. The loss of panels was mostly concentrated near the center of the tested partition wall. The testing results also confirmed that the failure mode of the non-seismic CPC systems was brittle: The whole system would collapse suddenly all at once when the magnitude of the inputs hit the capacity threshold, rather than displaying progressive damage. Overall, the seismic capacity of the unbraced and braced CPC systems could be up to 1.23 g and 2.67 g, respectively; these accelerations were both achieved at the base of the partition wall. Nonetheless, for practical applications, it is noteworthy that the three-dimensional nature of seismic excitations and the size effect of the ceiling area are parameters that exacerbate the CPC's seismic response so that their actual capacity may be dramatically decreased, leading to important losses even in moderate seismic events.
