  • Multi-layered primary linings have been proved to be highly effective for tunneling in severe squeezing grounds. But there still has not existed well-established design method for it. Basically, there are two main critical problems in this method, including determinations of allowable deformation and distribution of support stiffness. In order to address such problems, an attempt to investigate the mechanical response of a circular tunnel with double primary linings is performed in this paper. Analytical solutions in closed form for stresses and displacements around tunnels are derived. In addition, the effectiveness and reliability of theoretical formulas provided are well validated by using the numerical method. Finally, based on the analytical solutions, a parametric investigation on the effects of allowable deformation and distribution of support stiffness on tunnel performance is conducted. Results show that the rock pressure and displacement are significantly affected by these two design parameters. It can be found that rock pressure decreases as either allowable deformation increases or stiffness of the first primary lining decreases, but rock displacement shows an opposite trend. This paper can provide a useful guidance for the design of multi-layered primary linings.

  • Existing mobility support scheme like MIPv4 has the delay at data transfer and Triangle routing problem. This paper proposes the new mobility support scheme and method that can overcome the problem using MPLS LSP in Next Generation Network. The proposed scheme overcomes the problem by introducing the LMS(Location Management Server) managing the location of the mobile terminal and the MPLS LSP between FA for a tunneling. We shows on the mathematical analysis using the queuing theory that this proposed scheme is more superior to the existing method(MIP).

  • This paper presents a fast IP mobility management scheme in heterogeneous networks using the multiple wireless network interlaces. More specifically, in order to minimize the packet loss and handover latency due to handover, the E-HMIPv6, IETF HMIPv6 has been extended, is presented where the multiple tunnels between E-MAP and mobile node are dynamically constructed. E-HMIPv6 is composed of the extension of IETF HMIPv6 MAP, handover procedure, and simultaneous multiple tunnels. In order to demonstrate superior to the proposed method, the NS-2 simulation has done for performance evaluation of TCP and UDP-based application comparison with the existing mobility management method.

  • We investigated theoretically the current-voltage characteristics of resonant tunneling diodes with a single quantum well structure, using a self-consistent method. This method is a numerical analysis which is able to include the effects of the undoped spacer layer and the band bending by charge accumulation and depletion on the contact layers, so that it is better suited to explain experimental results. The structure used is an $Al_{0.5}Ga_{0.5}$As/GaAs/$Al_{0.5}Ga_{0.5}As$ single quantum well. In this work, we estimate the theoretical current-voltage characteristics, and then, the dependence of the current-voltage curves on the thickness of undoped spacer layers.

  • As the traffic increased, the original capacity of the tunnel has been unable to meet the needs, so it must be expanded. Based on the features of tunnel, the intermittent trough method must be supposed for tunnel enlarging. Under the situation on the buried deep of the tunnel, it could be used the reasonable arch axis model to descript the past covered rock pressure for mechanism calculating of self-bearing arch. Then establish the three-arch combination effectible model for the analysis which is relied on the tunneling enlarging to Chongqing Yu-Zhou tunnel. It has determined the proper width for the intermittent trough in shallow buried tunnel enlarging.

  • We propose a new transit time device to extend the operating frequency to submillimeter-wave(extreme infrared) ranges by utilizing velocity overshoot effects in the drift region. We name it a velocity overshoot transit time (OVTT) diode. This device adopts fast heterostructure tunneling as injection mechanism and a short drift region to optimize the velocity overshoot effects. To enhance dc-to-RF conversion efficiencym the drift region is designed with a bandgap grading method. Simulation results demonstrate that a VOTT diode can be operated at THz ranges.

  • A hybrid ad-hoc network consists of a wired network and a mobile ad-hoc network connected by the internet gateway. To provide seamless service for internet user in hybrid ad-hoc network, an efficient internet gateway selection technique and a fast handover technique are needed. In this paper, we propose a seamless handoff technique for providing mobility of mobile hosts in hybrid ad-hoc networks. The proposed technique improves general handoff performance by an internet gateway re-registration algorithm for ad-hoc networks. Moreover, it reduces handoff processing time in the range of certain region by using mobility management agent (MMA) and also the packet loss when handoff occurs out of the range of MMA by tunneling technique.

  • In the initial process of photosynthesis, a biological electron transfer system, photoelectric conversion occurs and then long-range electron transfer takes place very efficiently in one direction through the biomolecules. The metal/insulator/metal structured device consisting of GFP, viologen, cytochrome c hetero-thin film was presented based on the biomimesis. GFP, viologen, and cytochrome c was used as an electron sensitizer, a mediator, and an electron acceptor. Cytochrome c molecules and viologen molecules were deposited by Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique, and GFP molecules were adsorbed by self-assembly method (SAM). Surface morphology of hetero-thin film was analyzed by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Local photoswitching effects of a proposed photodiode were verified by current-voltage measurements using hybrid STM/I-V measurement system.

  • Engineering rock mass classification is extensively used to determine the reasonable support system throughout the tunneling process in the field. Selection of support system based on the results of engineering rock mass classification is simple and straight-forward. However, this method cannot consider the effect of in-situ stresses, mechanical properties of support material, and support installation time on the behavior or rock-support system To handle the various conditions encountered in the underground excavation sites rock-support system. To handle the various conditions encountered in th eunderground excavation sites rock-support interaction program has been developed. This program can analyze the interaction between rock mass and support materials and also can simulate the tunnel excavation-support insstallation process by controlling the support installation time and the stiffness of support system. Practical applicability of this program was verfied by comparing the results of support design to those from rock mass classification for virtual underground excavation at the drilling site KD-06 in Geoje island.

  • Micronization of sensor is a trend of the silicon sensor development with regard to a piezoresistive silicon pressure sensor the size of the pressure sensor diaphragm have become smaller year by year and a microaccelerometer with a size less than 200-300${\mu}m$ has been realized. In this paper we study some of the micromachining processes of SOI(silicon on insulator)for the microaccelerometer and their subsequent processes which might affect thermal loads. The finite element method(FEM) has been a standard numerical modeling technique extensively utilized in structural engineering discipline for design of SOI wafers. Successful thermal behaviors analysis and design of the SOI wafers based on the tunneling current concept using SOI wafer depend on the knowledge abut normal mechanical properties of the SCS(single crystal silicon)layer and their control through manufacturing process
