Troublesome Occipital Neuralgia Developed by C1-C2 Harms Construct

  • Recently, Harms and Melcher modified Goel's approach, the C1 lateral mass and C2 pedicle screw fixation, and the new technique is currently in favor among neurosurgeons. Comparing to the advantages of Harms construct, the disadvantages were not extensively investigated. We experienced a patient with severe occipital pain developed after the C1 lateral mass screw placement for the traumatic atlantoaxial instability. We reviewed literatures about Harms construct with focus on the occipital neuralgia as a postoperative complication and suggest here technical tips to avoid the troublesome pain.

벼 직파재배(直播栽培)의 잡초발생(雜草發生) 생태(生態)와 효과적(效果的)인 방제법(防除法) (Weed Ecology and Effective Weed Control Technology in Direct-Seeded Rice)

  • The paper was reviewed the research results on weed dynamics and effective control methods in direct-seeded rice crop. Direct seeding method resulted in drastic increment of weed growth compared to transplanting method and also changed in troublesome weed flora. Two to three fold more weeds were harvested at the direct seeded rice and weed flora of dominant species shifted toward $C_4$type grass weeds. Some of the important troublesome weeds in direct seeded rice were Echinochloa crus-galle, Oryza saliva ssp spontanea, Leptochloa chinensis. Setaria viridus. Digitaria adsendens, Sesbania exaltata, Aeschynomene indica, Algae, etc. Yield loss due to weed competiton was about 40-60% for water-seeded and about 70-100% for dry-seeded rice while these for transplanted rice were about 25-35% for mechanical transplanting and about 10-20% for manual transplanting, respectively. Integrated weed management concept was neede to approach weed control effectively. Several cultural technologies were very effective to suppress the weed growth. These were tillage operation, water management, seeding date and seeding rate. Crop residues of barley, rice, wheat, oat and italian ryegrass were also effectivly suppressed the paddy weeds particularly to Potamogeton distiuctus, a perennial broadleaf weed. A pathogen of Epicoccosorus nematosporus identified from Eleocharis kuroguwai was an excellent potential bioagent to control the most troublesome perennial sedge weed of E. Kuroguwai without arising any detrimental effect. The herbicidal efficacy of this pathogen was as high as bentazon herbicide. Plant growth regulator of paclobutrazol (pp-333) was another possible alternative to reduce the herbicide use. In current, herbicide exhibited the most conspicuous results to control weeds in direct-seeded rice even though the application technologies were not fully established. Recommendations for herbicide application were suggested for in both water-and dry-seeded rice in USA, Japan and Korea, respectively. To make better and comprehensive recommendations further studies on weed ecology and herbicide development were emphasized.

Microphone Array를 이용한 고압설비의 고장위치인식 알고리즘 (An Accidental Position Detection Algorithm for High-Pressure Equipment using Microphone Array)

  • This study receives the noise transmitted in a constant audio frequency range through a microphone array in which the noise(like grease in a pan) occurs on the power supply line due to the troublesome partial discharge(arc). Then by going through a series of signal processing of removing noise, this study measures the distance and direction up to the noise caused by the troublesome partial discharge(arc) and monitors the result by displaying in the analog and digital method. After these, it determines the state of each size and judges the distance and direction of problematic part. When the signal sound transmitted by the signal source of bad insulator is received on each microphone, the signal comes only in the frequency range of 20 kHz by passing through the circuit of amplification and 6th low pass filter. Then, this signal is entered in a digital value of digital signal processing(TMS320F2812) through the 16-bit A/D conversion. By doing so, the sound distance, direction and coordinate of bad insulator can be detected by realizing the correlation method of detecting the arriving time difference occurring on each microphone and the algorithm of detecting maximum time difference.

제초제 저항성 및 난방제 잡초 방제를 위한 제초제 선발 (Alternative Herbicides to Control Herbicide-Resistant and Troublesome Weeds in Paddy Fields)

  • 본 실험은 국내 논에서 우점하고 있는 주요 제초제 저항성 잡초들과 저항성잡초 가능성이 매우 높은 잡초들의 초종별 방제가능 제초제들을 설정하기 위하여 실시하였다. ACCase 및 ALS 저해제들에 대한 저항성 강피 방제에는 이앙전 처리제인 oxadiazon, pyrazolate, pretilachlor, benzobicyclone+thiobencarb들은 강피 0.5엽기에서 효과적이었으며, benzobicyclon+fentrazamide+bensulfuron, benzobicyclon+mefenacet+bensulfuron와 benzobicyclone+cafenstrole+pyrazosulfuron-ethyl은 강피 2엽기까지 효과적으로 방제되었다. 국내 논에서 발생하고 있는 주요 SU계 제초제 8 초종들에 대한 대체약제들의 반응은 benzobicyclon과 mesotrione은 방동사니과 및 광엽잡초, bromobutide는 매자기를 제외한 방동사니과, carfentrazone과 pyrazolate는 광엽잡초들에 각각 효과적이었다. SU계 제초들에 대하여 저항성 가능성이 높은 다년생 벗풀에는 carfentrazone과 pyraclonil, 그리고 일년생 여뀌바늘에는 carfentrazone, pyraclonil과 mesotrione이 효과적이었다.

Development of Software for Coarse Classifying

  • In general, the coarse classifying procedure splits the values of a continuous characteristic into bands and the values of a discrete characteristic into groups of values. Coarse classifying improves the robustness of the credit scoring system but it is complicate and troublesome procedure. Thus, in this paper, we develop a software for coarse classifying by using Visual Basic Language. By using the developed software, we can find the best split easily. Also, this software will help learners to study credit scoring.

  • A resonance is the one of major reasons of vibration problems occurred in industrial fields. To reduce vibration level due to resonance, structure reinforcements or change of the dynamic characteristics is generally applied. In this paper, the troublesome vibration levels of the motor shaft and auxiliary condensate pump are reduced by avoiding resonance.

  • Multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) have become one kind of the most widely used electrical components in recent decades. And the technology of MLCCs is developing continuously towards a direction of high capacitance and miniaturization. While the tiny thickness and the large quantity of the layers often make it very troublesome to do analysis with the full model MLCCs. In order to solve this problem, reduced model with fewer layers of MLCC was designed and verified in this paper.

기관지늑막루를 동반한 농흉의 외과적 치료-3 치험례- (Surgical treatment of postpneumonectomy empyema associated with bronchopleural fistula; A report of Three cases)

  • Persistent bronchopleural fistula still presents a troublesome therapeutic challenge and demands an aggressive approach when conventional measures fail. Empyema associated bronchopleural fistula developed after resectional surgery and their primary diseases were lung abscess in one case, bronchiectasis in two cases. Three cases of postpneumonectomy empyema associated bronchopleural fistula were treated surgically with a pedicled intercostal muscle grafting and concomittent thoracoplasty. After the procedure, patients had no recurrent symptoms or signs of bronchopleural fistula and discharged from hospital with improved condition.

  • High speed linear motor feed system has been simulated using neural network technique. Due to the limited resources, control gain tuning has been the most troublesome part in controller design. Regardless of the system structure, conventional control gain could be adjusted minimizing the resulting error using the proposed method. Slight performance deterioration was observed at the small value of training epoch.
