송화분이 고지방 식이 섭취 흰쥐의 간장에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Pine Pollen on Serum and Liver Lipids in Rats on a Fed High Fat Diet)

  • 6주간 고지방식이를 섭취한 흰주에 있어 송화분과 탈지 송화분이 혈청과 간장에서의 지방 축적과 대사에 미치는 효과를 관찰하였다. 혈청에서의 total lipid, total cholesterol 농도는 고지방 식이군에 비해서 탈지 송화분과 송화분 투여군이 유의적으로 감소하였다. 혈청에서의 triglyceride 농도는 탈지 송화분과 송화분 투여군이 고지방 식이군과 비교했을 때 뚜렷한 감소를 보였으며, 이는 정상군과 비슷한 농도를 나타내었다. 혈당 농도는 송화분, 탈지 송화분 투여군에서 유의성 있게 감소하였다. 간장을 조직학적으로 관찰한 결과, 고지방식으로 인한 조직의 지방 침착은 송화분 투여군에서 다소 억제함을 보였다. 이상의 결과를 미루어 볼 때 송화분은 동맥경화증 및 순환기계 질환의 예방과 치료에 효과적일 것으로 사료된다.

The effect of thalidomide on visceral fat pad mass and triglyceride concentration of the skeletal muscles in rats

  • Background: Body fats, especially both of abdominal fat pad mass and skeletal muscle fat content, are inversely related to insulin action. Therefore, methods for decreasing visceral fat mass and muscle triglyceride content may be helpful for the prevention of insulin resistance. Methods: Thalidomide, used for its anti-angiogenic and anti-inflammatory properties, was administered to rats for 4 weeks. A 10% solution of thalidomide in dimethyl sulfoxide was injected daily into the peritoneal cavity as much as 100 mg/kg of body weight. Results: The total visceral fat pad mass in the thalidomide-treated group was 11% lower than in the control group. The size of adipocytes of the epididymal fat pad mass in the thalidomide-treated group was smaller than in the control group. The intraperitoneal thalidomide treatment increased triglyceride concentrations by 16% in the red muscle, but not in the white muscle. Conclusion: The results suggested that intraperitoneal thalidomide treatment inhibited abdominal fat accumulation, and that the free fatty acids in the blood were preferentially accumulated in the red muscle rather than in the white muscle.

  • We examined the effects of food on pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of fenofibrate released from sustained-release(SR) capsule as therapy for hypolipidemia. Twenty-four healthy volunteers were used in $3{\times}3$ crossover pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic study; Additional six volunteers were used as a control group (i.e., no fenofibrate administration). A single dose of fenofibrate (SR capsule, 250 mg) was administered on three occasions: after overnight fasting, after consumption of a standard breakfast, and after a high-fat breakfast. Serial blood samples were collected for the next 72 hours. Plasma fenofibric acid concentrations were measured by high performance liquid chromatography, and pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated using ADAPT II program. Plsama triglyceride concentrations were measured by blood chemistry analyzer (CH-100). The pharmacokinetic parameters were significantly affected by food intake. The high-fat breakfast affected the rate of absorption of fenofibrate more than did the standard breakfast and fasted conditions. Plasma concentrations of triglyceride at 24 hours decreased significantly after the administration of fenofibrate compared with the concentration at 0 hours(P<0.05). In healthy volunteers, the bioavailability of fenofibrate was greater when administered via sustained-release capsules immediately after the consumption of food than after fasting condition.

대두올리고당이 당뇨 유발 흰쥐의 혈당 및 지질대상에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Soyoligosaccharides on Blood glucose and Lipid Metabolism in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of soyligosaccharides on improvement of diabetes mellitus. Sprague Dawley rats were divided into three groups. Control and one experimental group were fel AIN-93G diet(mixed diet) and the other experimental group was fed a similar diet containing 5% soyligosaccharides(oligosaccharide diet) for 6 weeks. Experimental groups were divided into two sub-groups after streptozotocin(STZ) injection and fed th mixed diet or the oligosaccharide diet for the next 2 weeks. Followings are final experimental and control groups: MM (mixed dietlongrightarrowSTZ injectionlongrightarrowmixed diet). MO(mixed dietlongrightarrowSTZ injectionlongrightarrowoligosaccharide diet), OM( oligosaccharide dietlongrightarrowSTZ injectionlongrightarrowmixed diet), OO(oligosaccharide dietlongrightarrowSTZ injectionlongrightarrowoligosaccharide diet), C(mixed dietlongrightarrowplacebo injectionlongrightarrowmixed diet). Blood glucose was analyzed at d1, d8 and d12 after streptozotocin injection. At the end of the experimental period, fecal bifidobacteria, plasma insulin, total lipid, triglyceride, cholesterol, and leptin concentrations was analyzed, After STZ injection, blood glucose level was significantly elevated in experimental group compared to a control group. Elevated blood glucose level declined faster in OO group compared to the other experimental groups. Meanwhile, insulin concentration decreased in all experimental groups compared to a control group. The number of bifidobacteria was significantly increased in oligosaccharide diet groups after STZ injection (MO and OO) than a mixed diet group(MM). Plasma cholesterol concentration significantly decreased in oligosaccharide diet groups(MO and OO) compared to mixed diet groups (MM and OM) after SZ injection. Plasma triglyceride and liver cholesterol concentrations significantly decreased in MO group compared to other experimental groups. Meanwhile, plasma leptin concentration was significantly lower in oligosaccharide diet groups after STZ injection(MO and OO) compared to a control group. The results in this study suggest that the dietary soyoligosaccharides has strong on reduction of reduction of blood glucose and lipid concentrations in streptozotoicin-induced diabetic rats. Thus, the use of soyoligosaccharides at a diet for IDDM patients may help to improve diabetes mellitus symptoms.(Korean J Nutrition 34(1) : 3-13, 2001)

쑥 및 엉겅퀴가 식이성 고지혈증 흰쥐의 혈청 지질에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Artemisia Princeps Var Orientalis and Circium Japonicum Var Ussuriense on Serum Lipid of Hyprlipidemic Rat)

  • The effects of Artemisia princeps var orientalis(mugwort), Circium japonicum var ussuriense(Unggungqui) on serum lipid componets in rats was evaluated. Thirty rats divided into 5 experimental groups were fed with the diet containing 1% cholesterol, 0.25% sodium cholate, 10% coconut oil and 5% lard(control diet), supplemetned with 5% plant powder or its water soluble extract(experimental diet) for 4 weeks. Proximate analysis data and compositions of ash, dietary fiber and fatty acids in plants were presented. The concentrations of the total cholesterol was significantly lower in Ungungqui powder, Ungungqui extract and mugwort powder diet groups than the control. Serum HDL-cholesterol level was significantly higher in Unggunqui powder and Unggunqui extract diet group than the control. The concentration of LDL was significantly lower in Unggungqui power or extract diet group compared to the control. The values of VLDL and chylomicron were comparatively lower in Unggungqui power and mugwort powder diet group than in the other diet groups. The concentration of seum triglyceride and phospholipid was lower in Unggungqui powder diet group than in the control.

고들빼기의 급여가 고지혈증 흰쥐의 지질대사에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Lxeris Sonchifolia H. on Serum Lipid Metabolism in Hyperlipidemic Rats)

  • The effect of lxeris sonchifolia H.(godulbaegi) on lipid metabolism were studied in S. D. rats. Twenty four rats were divided into four groups and fed diets containing 1 % cholesterol, 0.25% sodium cholate, 10% coconut oil and 5% lard(control group)f for 3 weeks. An experimental diet group was added with 5% leaf(PL group) or root powder(PR group) of godulbaegi. The lipid components and enzyme activites of serum and liver were assayed. The concentrations of total cholesterol, triglyceride and phospholipid were significantly lower in the PL and PR groups than in the control group. The levels of HDL-cholesterol were not significant but showed somewhat higher values in the PL and PR groups compaired with the control. The activities of glutamic oxaloacetic transminase(GPT) and glutamic pyruvic transaminase(GPT) were significantly lower in the PL and PR groups compaired with the control. In view of these results Godulbaegi is expected to be an effective food in preventing and improving the hyperlipidemic state.

T-2 toxin이 흰쥐 혈철 중 지질농도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of T-2 Toxin on Lipid Concentration in Rat Serum)

  • This study was designed to observe the effects of T-2 toxin on total cholesterol and lipid concentration in rat serum. T-2 toxin is a secondary metabolite produced by Fusarium sp. which is often found on agricultural products including cereals, and it is a causal material of liver injuries in cattle and humans. When we fed rats with standard diet treated with T-2 toxin, the body weight and feed consumption of rats treated T-2 toxin were decreased. As the results of lipid analysis, the concentrations of total cholesterol and free cholesterol in serum of treated rats were increased compared to non-fed control group, On the other hand, the levels of triglyceride and phospholipid in the serum of T-2 toxin treated experimental groups were declined. In conclusion, T-2 toxin largely influenced on the total cholesterol and lipid levels in rat serum.

Effect of Glutinous Barley Intake on Lipid Metabolism in Middle-Aged Rats Fed a High-Fat Diet

  • This study was designed to determine whether dietary glutinous barley (GB) affects lipid metabolism in middle-aged rats previously fed a high-fat diet. To induce obesity, 20 male 9-month-old Sprague Dawley rats were raised for 1 month on a diet containing 20%(w/w) lipid. The rats were allocated to 1 of 2 groups of 10 rats each and for the subsequent 2 months were fed an 8%(w/w) lipid diet containing well-milled rice (WMR) or GB powder. Rats fed the GB diet had significantly lower concentrations of plasma triglyceride, plasma total cholesterol, and liver cholesterol than rats fed the WMR diet. Fecal excretions of triglyceride and bile acids were significantly greater for the GB group than for the WMR group. In conclusion, dietary GB has positive effects on lipid metabolism: it decreases plasma cholesterol concentration by increasing fecal excretion of bile acids.

녹차유부 섭취가 실험쥐의 혈청지질에 미치는 영향 (Antihyperlipidemic Effects of Fried Beancurd Containing Powdered Green Tea in Rats)

  • 본 연구에서는 녹차분말이 포함된 녹차유부의 시제품 섭취가 실험쥐의 혈청지질에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 녹차분말이 포함된 유부 제품의 성분을 HPLC로 분석한 결과 녹차의 기능성 성분인 epigallocatechin, epicatechin, epicatechin gallate, epigallocatechin gallate 등이 공정단계에서 파괴되지 않고 잘 보존됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 개발된 녹차유부 시제품을 실험쥐에 섭취시킨 후 혈청의 HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride과 포도당농도를 측정한 결과 일반 유부를 섭취한 대조군에 비하여 혈중 LDL-cholesterol 농도와 혈당량이 유의성 있게 감소되었다.

  • The effect of Artemisia princeps var orientalis(mugwort) and Circium japonicum var ussuriense (Unggungqui) on lipid metabolism was examined . Thirty rats of 5 experimental groups were fed with a diet containing 1% cholesterol and 0.25% sodium cholate(control diet) and 5% plant powder or its water soluble extract(experimental diet) for 4 weeks. The activity of enzymes related to liver function, lipid components of liver and principle organs, and fecal steroids were assayed. The activity of enzymes was significantly lower in the unggungqui and mugwort powder diet group than in control. Liver total cholesterol , free cholesterol, and triglyceride levels were significantly lower in Unggungqui powder diet groups that in the control. The concentrations of total cholesterol , triglyceride and phospholipid in heart and kidney were comparatively low in the Unggungqui powder diet groups. In each plant powder diet group, the values of serum bile acid were significantly lowe ran the fecal steroid excretion was higher than in the control and the extract diet groups.
