AZ91D 상용 마그네슘합금위에 316L과 420의 스테인레스 스틸의 플라즈마 코팅층의 마모와 기계적 특성 (Tribological and mechanical properties of plasssma sprayed 316L and 420 stainless steel layers on the AZ91D commercial magesium alloy)

  • 316L and 420 Stainless steels were deposited onto AZ9ID commercial magnesium alloy by plasma spray process with various gas flow rate of, TEX>$H_2$ secondary gas. And hardness as well as were track volume, coefficient of friction also had been measured. wear and hardness were measured by using reciprocal configuration tribometer and microghardness tester, respectively. Also, the microstructure of the coatings surface the cross sectional area of coating surface and cross sectional area of coaing/Substrate interface had been analyzed with Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) and Optical microscope(OM). Finally, optimal process parameters for the improvement of coating efficiency such as mechanical property and wear behavior were examined.

  • The experimental study has been performed to deposit to deposit chromia powder on magnssium alloy for tribological and mechanical properties. The optimal condition was obtained by changing the spray condition such as working distance and gun power. As ceramics was coated onto the a light metal such as Mg according to the weight reduection of the car engine block, it could acquire that the engine efficiency deu to the weight reduction and properties such as resistance to heat, as well as wear. Coating qualities are discussed with respect to hardness, tribologicalproperty, and microstructure. The tribological and mechanical properties are investigated by using the reciprocal configuration tribometer and microharduess tester. Wear mode is determined by observing the SEM morhpology of wear track and cross section view of wear track.

  • We prepared diamond thin films on WC-Co substrate in a mixtured $H_2-CH_4-O_2$, gas, using 13.%MHz RF PACVD. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and Rarnan spectroscopy were used to analyze the characteristics of thin film, and tribometer of ball-on-disk type were used to test the wear resistance between thin film and substrate. The good diamond quality and wear resistance was appeared with cemented tungsten carbide substrate treated with oxygen plasma.

길들이기 과정과 표면파괴 과정에서의 잔류응력 변화 (The Changes of Residual Stresses on Sliding Surfaces during Break-in and Scuffing)

  • In this paper the residual stresses on lubricated sliding surfaces were measured during break-in procedure and up to scuffing by the X-ray diffraction method. The cylinder-on-disk type tribometer was used with the line-contact geometry. Scuffing tests were done using a constant load. In the break-in procedure the loads were increased from very low values in several steps. It was found that the sliding surfaces with break-in represented relatively higher values of residual compressive stresser than those without break-in. The residual stresses below the surfaces showed the small amount of stress increases. The results of scuffing tests with and without break-in showed the same trends as break-in tests did. However, in case of tests with break-in procedure the stresses below the surfaces showed very large increases in the residual compressive stresses. From the tests of break-in and scuffing, it was found that the increases in scuffing lives were related with the increases of residual stresses on the lubricated sliding surfaces with break-in.

  • This paper presents the results of the repeated sliding tests to determine the wear-life of TiN coated AISI 52100 bearing balls deposited by PVD method and to show the wear mechanisms of those. The sliding tests were carried out using a ball-on-disk tribometer under ambient conditions. The coefficient of friction, wear volume and the cycles to failures of TiN coated bearing balls were measured with different normal loads and roughness of lower specimens. On the wear-life diagram, the normal loads and the cycles to failure showed the good linear relation on log-log coordinate. With a decreasing normal load, the diagram showed that the wear-limits, at which the coated bearing balls survived more than 4000cycles were under 0.1N of the normal load.

  • An experimental study on the effect of silver particles on the sliding behavior of bearing steels was performed by using a ball-on-disk tribometer. Tests were carried out in ambient air, dry and vacuum. Disks of AISI 52100 were silver-coaled by a thermal evaporation method, and the effects of silver particle transfer on friction were firstly analyzed. In order to understand further the mechanism of silver particles transfer and its effect on friction and wear, pre-compressed silver particles were artificially introduced into the friction interface and the results were compared to those of silver-coated specimens. Results showed that the introduced silver particles produced transfer layers and resulted in low friction. It also showed that this low friction is closely related to the characteristic behavior of transfer layers. Shakedown and rachetting occurred at the friction interface and affected the friction and wear.

  • Water-lubrication ball bearings are required to install in aqueous medium where water is used as coolant or working fluid. However water-lubricated frictional characteristics of stainless steel ball bearing is not will known compared to oil-lubricated frictional characteristics. Furthermore study on friction at high temperature is rare because bearing maintenance strategy for water-lubricated or chemicals-lubricated bearings of equipment is mostly based on change of failed bearings and parts. Ball bearings and ball screws are used to transmit power in the control rod drive mechanism for an integral reactor and are lubricated with high temperature and high pressure chemically-controlled water. Bearings and power transmitting mechanical elements for a nuclear reactor require high reliability and high performance during estimated lifetime, and their performance should be verified. In this paper, experimental research results of frictional characteristics of water-lubricated ball bearing are reported.

Sliding Wear and Corrosion Resistance of Copper-based Overhead Catenary for Traction Systems

  • In the present study, the electrical sliding wear and corrosion resistance of pure copper (Cu) and six age-hardened copper alloys (CuCr, CuZr, CuCrZr, CuNiSiCr, CuBe and CuBeNi) were investigated by a pin-on-disc tribometer and electrochemical measurement. Various copper-based alloys in the form of cylindrical pin were forced to slide against a counterface stainless steel disc in air under unlubricated condition at a sliding velocity of 31 km/h under normal load up to 20 N with and without electric current. The worn surface of and wear debris from the specimens were studied by scanning electron microscopy. Both mechanical wear and electrical arc erosion were the wear mechanisms for the alloys worn at 50 A. Owing to its good electrical conductivity, high wear and corrosion resistance, CuCrZr is a promising candidate as the overhead catenary material for electric traction systems.

2종의 열가압 도재와 법랑질 간의 마모에 관한 연구 (An in-vitro wear study of human enamel opposing heat-pressed ceramics)

  • 연구목적: 2종의 열가압 도재 (e.max Press, Empress Esthetic)와 법랑질 간의 마모양상을 알아보기 위하여 장석계 도재 및 제 3형 금합금과 비교, 관찰하였다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 열가압 도재 e.max Press, Empress Esthetic 및 금속도재관 제작용 장석계 도재 Cermaco 3, 제 3형 금합금으로 원반형 시편을 제작하고, 상대 마모재로는 발거된 건전한 소구치의 교두를 이용하여 Pin-on-disk tribometer 상에서 마모시험 하였다. 법랑질의 마모량은 마모 전후 치아 시편의 무게 변화를 측정하여 부피로 환산하였고, 도재 및 금합금 시편의 평균 표면 조도와 마모트랙 깊이를 표면조도기로, 마모트랙 폭을 주사전자현미경으로 측정하여 마모 양상을 비교하였다. 결과: 1. 법랑질의 마모량은 Ceramco 3군에서 가장 크고 Empress Esthetic군, e.max Press군, 금합금군 순으로 작았으며, Ceramco 3군과 Empress Esthetic군 사이와, Empress Esthetic군, e.max Press군 및 금합금군 사이에는 유의한 차이가 없었다 (P>.05). 2. 마모시험 후 도재 시편의 평균 표면 조도는 Ceramco 3군, Empress Esthetic군, e.max Press군 순으로 작았으며, Empress Esthetic군과 Ceramco 3군 사이에는 유의한 차이가 없었다 (P>.05). 3. 마모트랙의 깊이는 모든 군 사이에 유의한 차이는 없었고 (P>.05), 마모트랙의 폭은 법랑질 마모량 순서와 동일하게 Ceramco 3군, Empress Esthetic군, e.max Press군, 금합금군 순으로 작았으며, e.max Press군과 Empress Esthetic군 사이 및 Empress Esthetic군과 Ceramco 3군 사이에 유의한 차이는 없었다 (P>.05). 결론: 열가압 도재는 장석계 도재보다 법랑질을 더 마모시키지는 않았다.

다층 다이아몬드상 카본 필름의 윤활 및 마모 거동 (Tribological behavior of multi-layered diamond-like carbon films)

  • 13.56MHz를 사용하는 r.f.PACVD(Plasma assisted chemical vapor deposition)방법 으로 다층 다이아몬드상 카본(DLC)필름을 Si wafer기판 위에 합성하였다. 다층 DLC필름은 2.5$\mu$m두께의 순수한 DLC필름과 0.2$\mu$m두께의 Si이 함유된 Si-DLC필름으로 구성되었으 며, ball on disk type의 tribometer를 이용하여 대기 중에서 다층 DLC필름의 마모거동을 고 찰하였다. 표면층으로 합성된 Si-DLC필름내의 Si함량이 증가함에 따라 다층 DLC필름과 AISI52100 steel ball 사이에 0.1 이하의 낮은 마찰계수를 유지하는 기간이 증가하였다. 44,000cycle과 158,400cycle의 마모실험 후 측정된 다층 DLC필름의 마모율은 각각 $2.5\times10^{-8}\sim1.8\times10^{-7}\textrm{mm}^3$/rev.과 $7.1\times10^{-9}\sim1.8\times10^{-8}\textrm{mm}^3$/rev.로 나타났다. 158,400cycle의 마모실험 후 측정된 마모율은 내마모 특성이 우수한 DLC필름보다도 2배 정도 우수한 것으로 나타났 다. 마모시험에 의해 형성된 debris의 조성을 분석한 결과, 이런 낮은 마찰계수와 우수한 내 마모 특성은 steel ball의 wear 표면을 덮고 있는 Si oxide debris층의 형성에 따른 결과로 판단되었다. 또한, 이러한 steel ball의 wear scar표면에 형성된 debris층을 제거하여도, 새로 운 Si oxide debris층이 wear scar표면에 다시 생성되어 낮은 마찰계수를 유지하고 있었다.
