  • Academia and research institutes mainly use qualitative methods that rely on expert judgments to understand and predict research trends and science and technology trends. Since such a technique has the disadvantage of requiring much time and money, in this study, science and technology trends were predicted using keyword network analysis. To that end, 13,618 AI (Artificial Intelligence) patent abstracts were analyzed using keyword network analysis in three separate lots based on the period of the submission of each abstract: analysis period 1 (January 1, 2002 - December 31, 2006), analysis period 2 (January 1, 2007 - December 31, 2011), and analysis period 3 (January 1, 2012 - December 31, 2016). According to the results of frequency analyses, keywords related to methods in the field of AI application appeared more frequently as time passed from analysis period 1 to analysis period 3. In keyword network analyses, the connectivity between keywords related to methods in the field of AI application and other keywords increased over time. In addition, when the connected keywords that showed increasing or decreasing trends during the entire analysis period were analyzed, it could be seen that the connectivity to methods and management in the field of AI application was strengthened while the connectivity to the field of basic science and technology was weakened. According to analysis of keyword connection centrality, the centrality value of the field of AI application increased over time. According to analysis of keyword mediation centrality during analysis period 3, keywords related to methodologies in the field of AI application showed the highest mediation value. Therefore, it is expected that methods in the field of AI application will play the role of powerful intermediaries in AI hereafter. The technique presented in this paper can be employed in the excavation of tasks related to regional innovation or in fields such as social issue visualization.

  • Purpose: This study analyzed research trends related to childhood and adolescent cancer survivors (CACS) using word co-occurrence network analysis on studies registered in the Korean Citation Index (KCI). Methods: This word co-occurrence network analysis study explored major research trends by constructing a network based on relationships between keywords (semantic morphemes) in the abstracts of published articles. Research articles published in the KCI over the past 10 years were collected using the Biblio Data Collector tool included in the NetMiner Program (version 4), using "cancer survivors", "adolescent", and "child" as the main search terms. After pre-processing, analyses were conducted on centrality (degree and eigenvector), cohesion (community), and topic modeling. Results: For centrality, the top 10 keywords included "treatment", "factor", "intervention", "group", "radiotherapy", "health", "risk", "measurement", "outcome", and "quality of life". In terms of cohesion and topic analysis, three categories were identified as the major research trends: "treatment and complications", "adaptation and support needs", and "management and quality of life". Conclusion: The keywords from the three main categories reflected interdisciplinary identification. Many studies on adaptation and support needs were identified in our analysis of nursing literature. Further research on managing and evaluating the quality of life among CACS must also be conducted.

  • The objective of this study is to review how researches on mathematics education are being conducted currently in Korea and overseas and to examine the current state of domestic researches on mathematics education from a broader view. Although many efforts have been made to understand trends in researches on mathematics education, there have been few in depth studies on research trends in overseas or for comparison between domestic and overseas trends. Thus, this study classified and analyzed 181 domestic articles between 2005 and 2009 in the journals and and 201 overseas articles in the journals and according to year, research area, research contents, school level, research method, and key words using the PME classification system with some modification. Through these analysis, we examined research trends on secondary mathematics education in Korea and overseas. The research findings are as follows. First, 'teaching learning process' was a spotlight area both at home and overseas, and 'realistic mathematics' and 'social cultural subjects' were not covered much either at home or overseas. 'Mathematical communication' occupied a very small portion in Korea but was a highly interesting area in overseas research. Second, research contents of interest were different between Korea and overseas. Research on general area was the mainstream. But geometry and statistics were mainly studied in Korea and algebra and analysis in overseas. Third, research related to middle school was twice more than that related to high school in Korea, But, research related to middle school was the same as high school in overseas. Fourth, qualitative research was the absolute majority both at home and overseas, and philosophical didactical analysis was used only in Korea. Fifth, the order of key words were problem solving - teacher - curriculum - creativity - textbook in Korea, but teacher - teaching - semiotic - affective factor - proo f- problem solving - technology in overseas.
