  • Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common type of arrhythmia and has a large global burden. In general, treatment of AF is based on medication and consists of rate and rhythm control together with anticoagulation. However, surgical treatment may be required in patients with AF combined with organic valvular heart diseases or who experience recurrence despite medication. In addition, surgical treatment plays a role in the treatment of lone AF. This article reviews the various surgical treatment options for AF.

  • Superalloys which can be devided into three categohes, i.e. Ni-base, Co-base, and Fe-base alloys are widely used for high temperature applications. Since superalloys contain many alloying elements and precipitates, its chemistry and processing parameters need to be carefully designed. In this review, current state-of-the art in the superalloy technologies is described with special attention to the heat-treatment for the control of the microstructures and mechanical properties.

  • Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) plays an important biomechanical role for the stability of knee joint. ACL injury often leads to injuries of articular cartilage, menisci, or other supporting structures, and subsequent development of degenerative arthritis. Controversies still exist in the best treatment modalities of ACL injuries. hut the author considers it most important to make the appropriate patient selection for operative reconstruction or nonoperative treatment. and describes the treatment principles of ACL injury, including diagnosis, patient selection and the treatment modalities for successful treatment of ACL injury.

The paper gathered so far the leachate treatment technology, including physical, chemical and biological treatment technology, and found the technology to be improved, the paper expounds the advantages and disadvantages of each method, applicable scope in the future, leachate treatment technology.

  • In the present study, effects of autohydrolysis treatment on the properties of rice hull were investigated. Two temperature condition such as $160^{\circ}C$ and $180^{\circ}C$ and thee treatment time such as 15 min, 30 min and 45 min were applied for autohydrolysis treatment. The pH of extract after autohydrolysis treatment decreased as increasing of the temperature and the treatment time. The ash content and the lignin content of rice hull were not decreased by the autohydrolysis treatment. The structure of rice hull after autohydrolysis treatment became more weak, the better efficiency of the fiberization with PFI-Mill was shown for the autohydrolysis treated rice hull with the higher temperature and the longer treatment time.

A COMPARISON STUDY ON DENTAL TREATMENT TIME OF PATIENTS WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF DISABILITIES (장애유형별 치과진료시 소요시간에 관한 비교연구)

  • The objective of this study was to confirm the validity of classification of dental disability by measuring the dental treatment time required for disabled patients and identify the disability type that requires more of chair time. As a result of measuring a total of 123 patients who were admitted to the Seoul dental hospital for the disabled on Oct. 2014, I was able to make the following conclusions: 1. For dental counseling and check-up, the chair time did not show significant differences between the different types of disability. 2. For periodontal treatment, restorative treatment, root canal treatment, and surgical treatment, the difference of the chair time for dentally disabled patients was significantly longer than that of non-dentally disabled patients. 3. The difference in the total chair time for prosthetic treatment was statistically insignificant. However, each of the prosthetic treatment steps did show statistically significant differences.

Cryosurgical Treatment of Ameloblastoma: Case Report (법랑아세포종의 냉동수술 치험례)

  • Although an ameloblastoma is a benign tumor histologically, it may act malignantly. It has locally destructive and recurrent tendencies. Many different strategies have been attempted in order to cure an ameloblastoma including curettage, enucleation, marsupialization, and resection with a safty margin. Curettage, enucleation, and marrsupialization can be classified into a conservative treatment and resection with a safty margin can be classified into a radical treatment. Radical treatment has better results than the conservative treatment. Thus, more radically conservative treatment methods are needed in order to improve the treatment results. The cryosurgery can be applied an ameloblastoam. In particular, with regards to the solid and intramural type, the application of the cryosurgery has its advantages over the conservative treatment. After resection of the diseased area we don't need to discard the diseased segment. Instead, by placing the segment in liguid nitrogen, the diseased segment can use the autogenous tray for packing several bone materials.

  • Objectives : This study was undertaken in order to establish clinical application of Taegeuk acupuncture treatment by Sasang(4-type) Constitutional medicine. Methods : 1. Dr. Lee Byung-haeng suggested nine applications of Taegeuk acupuncture treatment of Soyang(lesser Yang) type men. 2. The author summarized the application of Taegeuk acupuncture treatment gathered by clinical experience. 3. The author researched the effect of Taegeuk acupuncture on patients after treatment. Results & Conclusions : 1. Taegeuk acupuncture treatment is effective against psychogenic disease. 2. Taegeuk acupuncture treatment is effective against autonomic nervous system dysfunction(For example, blood circulation disorder, etc.) and has an effect on recovery from sub-health. 3. The author conclude that Taegeuk acupuncture treatment for incurable diseases or diseases of unknown etiology needs a further clinical study in the future.

Sewage Treatment Characteristics and Efficiencies of Absorbent Biofilter Systems (흡수성 바이오필터 시스템의 오수처리 특성 및 효율)

  • In this study, on-site sewage treatment tests were conducted using the Absorbent Biofilter System (ABS) under different hydraulic loading rates to examine its treatment characteristics and efficiencies and to determine its feasibility as a small on-site sewage treatment system in a rural area. Results showed that the removal rates of BOD and SS were satisfactory at hydraulic loading rates of 100~150 cm/day, meeting the Korean effluent water quality standards for the riparian zone (10 mg/L). In the case of nutrients (N, P), however, the system did not perform well, necessitating further improvement for nutrient removal. A comparative analysis indicated that as a small on-site sewage treatment system, the ABS would be more suitable than other treatment systems in terms of performance stability, maintenance requirement, and cost-effectiveness and could be applied as an alternative treatment system in Korean rural areas.
